Are you really comparing fans quitting on their team to a professional football player quitting a game he's paid to play like a 5 year old? Seriously?

I'll tell you what's funnier... watching Wallace attempting unnecesary one handed catches and dropping touchdowns.

probably hoping he gets released. Being underutilized and he knows the situation isn't going to get better with this coach and owner still here.

How is he being underutilized? His three best years (2009-2011), he was a low volume target.

philbin already has said it was a coaches decision for him not to play. Gibson said the same thing. So did Tannehill.

So a guy who wasn't happy with ben roethlisberger as his Qb is now not happy with Tannehill...how surprising. They should cut him, but if they do, it's exactly what he wants...take the money and run to another team who will pony up big cash and not get results from him...and it will be yet another's QBs fault.

I don't like the fact that he quit on his team, but it sounds like he was one of the very few players and coaches who are not ok with being 8-8 yet again. The owner is OK with being a 500 team, the coaches are OK with it, players are OK with it, and sadly, the fans are now blasting a player who's not OK with it.

The article about the organization being OK with mediocrity is evident in this forum.
People are OK with the QB who is trying to win, the coach trying to win, the owner trying to win....None of this happens to winning franchises like the Phins of the 80's. David Woodley took the team to the playoffs, won the AFC Championship, was the youngest QB to start in SB history, and we still drafted a QB in the 1st round a year later.

I'm not going to be mad with a player who wants to win. I will be mad at him quitting on his team, but if it was truly a coaches decision to sit him because he has too much passion and fire, I blame the coaching staff for keeping players and the franchise down.

The logical theory (and I won't dramatize it) is that he threw a mini piss fit after that drive and told coaches if you aren't going to get me the ball then I'll just sit on the bench. I can imagine halftime had some interesting events and Mike had his bluff called by the staff.

A terrible reaction, he should've sucked it up and got through one last game.

It's also logical to think that getting Brian some targets was part of a much bigger picture, he undoubtedly won't be a Miami Dolphin next season and Hickey needed SOMETHING to build on when talking trade. WRs and their mindset leads me to believe Mike wanted his 1,000 yards and the lack of looks sent him into a frenzy. Inexcusable

Did you miss this last night? or are you just conveniently overlooking it because it benefits your position???

@JeffDarlington: Wallace wasn’t “benched,” according to several sources. It wasn’t initially “coach’s decision.” Wallace told Philbin he didn’t want to play.

@JeffDarlington: After Clay scored with 2:49 left in 1st half, Mike Wallace came off the field and told Joe Philbin he no longer wanted to play in the game.

@JeffDarlington: Many Dolphins teammates were very displeased with Wallace’s actions today. Several tell me they felt like he abandoned them when needed.

I dont know how to link the the actual tweets... but here... see for yourselves if you dont wont to believe it.. https://twitter.com/JeffDarlington

Omar tweets are saying SEVERAL players are not showing up for the last meeting of the year due to the displeasure with Philbin n Co. So in essence we are seeing many more players "quit on this organization".

    When it rains it pours.

I'll withhold judgment until the players actually fail to show up for the last meeting. I have a feeling everyone is rightfully upset and are venting. Its easy to say "I'm not going to the final meeting". Its another thing to actually not show up.

I'd like to sit here and ***** about those guys being pros and not doing their jobs, but I'm *thisclose* to saying eff it all with this team myself. If it takes something like a walkout to get some attention on this crappy staff, I'm cool with it.

NFL players are weird birds. The Seahawks deal with much worse than this and they are Superbowl champs.

Wallace's production never matched his cap hit, so he is gone regardless.

Wallace has dealt with s**t ALLL YEAR. He's taken on a new role that's befitting a player with half his speed. He's worked hard in this role and worked hard to become a better player. He's maintained a higher level of focus. He's physically fought for extra yards. He's fought harder for the ball in the air. He's fought to hold blocks and make them downfield. He's sacrificed himself as a decoy all year to clear out space for OTHERS underneath so that the dink-and-dunk offense could operate at a high level. He's been a very selfless player this year, and he's been so while receiving little reward from the part of the game that provides him the most pleasure- catching a deep ball. After all, that's why he was made one of the highest paid receivers in the game, and Mike knows it's what boosted his paycheck..... and for all we know, it could be eating at Mike that he's being deprived of the ability to earn his full paycheck.

People just need to chill the hell out for a minute with all this crazy hate talk. Normally when someone gives so much of himself like Wallace did this year, you actually throw him a f***ing bone to get his tail wagging, but there he finds himself, in the final game of the year, the final opportunity to throw him a bone for all his selfless hard work, but he's deprived of it. You guys are full of s*** if you think such an instance wouldn't get you emotional. Wallace may have handled his emotions less than ideally, but humans are capable of a lot of less than desirable actions in the heat of the moment after a lengthy build up of trying emotions. If you wanna be upset with his actions, fine, but be sympathetic simultaneously for all that he endured that led to his melt down. This is a horse who wants to go out and run, who was born to run, but instead he's been hitched to a metal apparatus attached to a wheel that goes round in a circles for kids to ride at a fair. He just wants to be unhitched and enjoy being a horse for a day.

Furthermore, does no one find it a coincidence that Mike has this "meltdown" the week following Ross's announcement that Philbin will be returning? You guys shouldn't be hating on Wallace; you should be thanking him for highlighting Philbin's ineptitude as a coach and inability to properly lead his team because that's what all this boils down to.

Mike Wallace counts more against his team's salary cap than any other wide receiver in the league. The team is paying him to do what it needs him to do, not necessarily what he enjoys doing. Certainly if he's displeased with what the team needs him to do, there are other avenues though which he can express that appropriately.

What does that have to do with the price of tea in China? He wasn't paid all that money to be a possession receiver, and the current GM now signing his check isn't the same one whom Mike sat down and agreed to terms with, genius, a discussion that I'm sure involved more than just money. And that original GM most certainly made Wallace the team's highest paid player to do the things that Mike incidentally enjoys doing. Mike is now under contract, a contract that he believed would involve the aspect of the game he loves the most. Stop acting like Miami was the only place he could've signed. It's a free market dude. If he knew things would transpired this way and he would've been reduced to a possession receiver, I guarantee you he would've signed elsewhere, even if it cost him money.

Blah blah blah, all of this is easy for you to say up in the peanut gallery when none of your own emotions are involved. I'd LOVE to see you get raked over the coals at your job after putting everything into it and then see you get up and say with a smile, "Thank you sir, may I have another please!". GTHO here [metaphorically of course].

Again, this is a GAME, one which is played on emotion!!!... and emotion is directly tied to whether or not you enjoy what you're doing!!! You wanna talk about this like it's any normal job? Gimme a friggin' break. If your heart isn't fully into your NORMAL job, you yourself can give 90% and no one would be the wiser, as you'd still be viewed as "doing your job". If you're having a bad day and decide to give the final quarter of it 80%, who actually notices? Nobody. You're still viewed as "doing your job" b/c you're still going through all the necessary motions etc. If an NFL player, however, drops from 100% to 90% for the season or from 100% to 80% in the 4th quarter b/c his heart isn't in it and because he isn't enjoying himself, it most certainly will go noticed. Just a giant LOL that you actually think emotion has nothing to do with professional football.

Last year was the time to criticize Wallace for whatever effort he didn't give last year. If you failed to get it out of your system, then that's your problem. Wallace most certainly should be receiving praise this year for effort and hard work he gave this year since it's an entirelynew seasonrather than a continuation of the last. Holding people to what they did in their past despite change being made is patently absurd. If the world held your attitude, no one would be left striving for improvement b/c no matter what they did, they'd always be known for whomever they were in the past. I hope you're not an AA sponsor. Just sayin.

Emotion can be good or bad. A disgruntled wife doesn't lop her husband's wiener off b/c of good emotion. Philbin has this team playing under bad emotion.

A "star" player half-assing a season isn't really a forgive-and-forget type thing, and it's most certainly pertinent information when a guy with Wallace's total lack of accountability feels like he's been victimized by his benching. He's a huge risk to do it again.

And I'm pretty sure that Mike Wallace related things aren't going to be my problem anymore soon enough.

I'm not disputing that. I can disprove of how Mike handled his emotions while simultaneously understanding what led to his actions and sympathizing with him for it.

Now, if his outburst had more to do with frustration of knowing Philbin would be retained, then I wouldn't take much issue with it at all. I'd wish more players lashed out like that out of contempt for their detrimental head coach.

Not only did the pos quit on his team. The complaining started after a TD by Clay.

From everything, sounds to me like Mike had a moment of emotion and told Joe he wanted to sit out a series... and then when he wanted to go back in, Joe told him to keep his *** parked on the bench. Just an ugly situation all around.
