If there is a yes vote, we'll know Ross reads the forum.

wasting time discussing Philbin since we know he's coming back. I'd prefer to spend my time hoping, dreaming that someone forces Philbin to fire Kevin Coyle. Given the choice, I'd rather fire Coyle at the moment. what a disaster of a coach. teams have figured out how to beat his defense and he just can't adjust.

    Bonkers really isn't it?

For a rich guy he really is cowardly. Keeps quiet whilst the team collapses, but when they scrape a win against a poor Vikings team he comes out to say Philbin is staying. Team utterly capitulates against the Jets with fallouts amongst the team members and coaches... Silence again.

As as the owner he should be showing leadership, strong leadership. Even if he was going to keep Philbin you say something along the lines of, ' The record this year is not acceptable and we will take a looker things in the off season etc etc...' . Make it known that any more of this crap and you are gone rather then backing the guy after a meaningless win against a poor side thinking that he was announcing the news from a position of strength after a win.

The one thing that gets me is even though Ryan has left the jets, those players wanted to play for the guy. You don't get that feeling with Philbin.

And now as I write this Smith has just been fired from the Falcons. Other teams being decisive.

Ah, buck up. We've all been at this long enough to have a sense for the swings in collective sentiment driven by cognitive dissonance. Approximately 5 months from now everyone will be talking about how Dennis Hickey is personally putting the Dolphins over the top with his great personnel moves, how Joe Philbin is really just a mediocre coach (not a particularly bad one) and that it's the rosters that drive how good a football team does anyway. Dennis Hickey's roster. Which will be lauded as top 5 or 10 in the NFL.

No. Zero improvement. Locker room in disarray. He will be gone after next season at least. Tough to lose an entire year because Ross is always one year too late to can people. He is probably the worst owner in the league at this point.

    LOL.

    Dead on.

    This is such a disaster.

    Had to love Darlington's tweet:

Being a Dolphins fan really has to be in the bottom five this season (at least other teams will be changing coaches, etc.).

My only hope at this point is that no one offers Rex Ryan a HC job and Miami fires Coyle and pays Rex big bucks to be the DC. Then let Joe be a figurehead.

It's really all we can do at this point. Swallow the **** sandwich, and then once the awful taste subsides, we can fool ourselves into thinking, "It didn't really taste all that bad." Until the server brings the same steaming **** sandwich next season, we foolishly bite into it again and remember just how terrible it really was.

Remember when even the banner-flying people started admitting (publicly) in 2012 that it looks like Jeff Ireland has changed? Remember 2013 after spending huge money on Mike Wallace, Philip Wheeler and Dannell Ellerbe, then trading up from #12 to #3 to get Dion Jordan?

Time does things to a crowd.

Something wrong: Wallace ends season on bench. Tannehill ends season on ground. Dolphins end season with loss. Philbin ends season with job.

Or when they brought Sparano back after the Harbaugh fiasco and he did that nonsensical Gladiator speech at that luncheon that fans ate up? Only to lose a pile of games in a row and get fired midseason.

The rumormill is strongly hinting that Rex Ryan will entertain HC jobs or go to broadcasting. Not interested in being a DC.

Which is why Ross is highly likely to offer Rex a D.C. job, ask him to keep Coyle as DB coach, and then be publicly rejected by Rex and decide to extend Coyle's contract one year longer than Philbin's as an apology.

The craziest part of Philbin being retained... if we had of beaten Baltimore, he would have been fired for sure.

Could you imagine if that Jets game had playoff ramifications and Geno goes crazy on us like that? It would have went down as one of the greatest choke jobs ever! Ground hog day all over again with the Dolphins losing 3 straight clutch games against garbage teams!! People would have been 10X more upset and the fan base would have been borderline riotous.

So Miami loses to the Ravens and Jets and Philbin keeps his job, but if we beat Baltimore and lost to the Jets he would surely have been fired IMO.

That Darlington quote sums things up perfectly.

Could be...could be that he has signed a contract with ESPN that has a clause in it about leaving this for anything other than a HC position...could be...

EDIT: I'm not the biggest Rex fan and IF he somehow ended up here as a DC I wouldn't be too upset, but I'd pay to sit in some of the production meetings with RR and a few of those other guys at ESPN, just to hear Ryan...

    Amazing consensus.

Pretty sure you can get more than 1.5% of internet voters to vote that Hitler was just a misunderstood romantic. But you can't get more than 1.5% of internet voters to say Joe Philbin is a good coach.

Philbin is good at some things, namely developing young players.

Philbin is not so good at rallying the troops for games

Yeah. Anything more than 95% is unusual, even in unscientific internet polling. Joe Philbin being such a lousy coach that he can't even polarize the fanbase is kind of amazing, when you really think about it.
