I'm interested in people's opinions on how much, if any, influence Dan Marino had on Stephen Ross in deciding to keep Joe Philbin for another year. We've all heard how Marino has had an influence on Ryan Tannehill, and so it looks like he's involved himself in the inner workings of the team enough to have opinion of his own about how the team is doing, who is responsible for its problems, and how it should move forward in the future, and I think it's likely that he was either asked for his opinion by Ross or offered one of his own. One of the issues with the team historically is that its owners have seemed to make important decisions without the guidance or advice of people who know football and are heavily emotionally invested in the franchise. Now that the Dolphins have such a person in that sort of position within the organization, I'm wondering how much influence people believe he may have had in this process and in this recent, important decision by Stephen Ross.
Can you give us the cliff notes? Some of us don't have the cash for it. Personally I think Ross is a dummy who made a dopey decision in the heat of the moment after a meaningless win against a crappy team. And if that is true, and I'm just speculating, but if it were true, I'd be pissed if I were Marino especially if I had a different opinion.
Stop spamming with your club advertisements.... Seriously, Rasheed Wallace, fight club? Hard to say, but I voted yes. The wheels didn't fall off completely until the end. And while the offense struggled w/o Albert, it was mostly a defensive collapse. At the same time, Ross could of easily made this decision on his own. He hired Dennis Hickey to a two year deal, which was writing on the wall (matching Philbin's). Tannehill is coming off of his best year under Lazor... And the best coach available (Harbaugh) was likely headed to Michigan, where Ross wanted him.
A lot of that info is on the interwebz. Jason Cole has reported on it. The Dolphins shot a lot of it down but Cole still has sources within the org
I don't think Marino endorses Dumbo, but I do think that Marino is a sounding board for Ross to a certain extent...I think the decision to keep Dumbo was based purely on the fact that he has one more season on his contract and that decision was made by Ross... But that's what I've come to expect from Ross...
Who's spamming? Club information isn't discussed outside of it. Sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk
How is it spamming for someone to try to nicely offer a hint when they could offer people in the mains nothing at all instead? And if there IS good info available at another level, why is it wrong to let people know that? Also, how in the heck is it spamming for the owners of their own site to mention another part of their own site? I mean, maybe it bugs posters not to have access to that info... but clearly it's not bothering them enough to pay the cost of a lunch on a Wednesday to have year-long access to that info and more. So.
Also... for the answer to your question re: Marino, see my SigPic... taken in lockeroom after Vikings game. This is when Ross knew he was keeping Philbin. And I'll bet Danny knew too. Does Danny look happy?
Yes, 4 posts referring to information you don't have access to. It's annoying whenever club members come into the main and tease information that non club members don't have access to.
I voted no because I don't think Marino opinion was sought after . but if things keep deteriorating maybe the 72' dolphins can persuade Ross to sell the team because we know that they cant be happy.
You guys want to not share information that's fine. The fight club nonsense isn't going to get me to sign up again. I'll find what I need to know somewhere else.
Here is what convinced me to vote yes. Who needs club level with great intel like this! http://www.thephins.com/forums/show...o-Tannenbaum-and-Marino-are-Ross-top-advisors
I've gained a lot of valuable information, a few friends, and had good times having been a member of this forum for six years. There's a really good livelihood preserving reason why people always tell you to join club and to be fair, you, like I did before I subscribed to club, make use of these guys's servers and technical expertise to bring this forum to us for free. If members not even affiliated with management suggest contributing to the forum we value, it's not a bad thing. You want completely free access to this forum then without contributing back or even having to read a suggestion that you contribute?
I was a member of club when this forum first got started. I won an essay contest to get the first year and then I paid for the next couple of years. Then the administrators decided to go with ads. I don't fault them. It's their decision. They deserve to earn income on their investment. But don't act like they are losing their *** if we don't pay for club. Maybe it's changed but when I was a member of club but days and sometimes weeks would go by without new threads. It wasn't active. And the little bit of insider information that popped up often had very little basis in reality. I did like the camaraderie of it. But when my PC started getting viruses from the ads on the board and the only way I could access it was to use a Macbook I decided not to pay for club anymore. Personal decision. Again, I value the admins and the environment they provide here, but I like others get a little annoyed when club members tease us with information from club. Being an admin myself of a different message board, I know it's the main page hits that generate the ad revenue. Keep pissing on the users who keep the main forum active and it won't be a very successful business model.
There have been times when there was little activity in there particularly in the offseason but thats ancient history.Nothing is static. We rival the posts in the mains now and the insider information is considerably more than those days. We have recently closed a thread that has 6024 posts 88000 reads and that only part 3 of a topic .It got too big as the first parts did too. If you look at whose online you will note the members with blue user names. Those are current Club members .Over 60 pct of our active members are current Club members .We do not promote memberships. It promotes itself by the comments of our members. We do not encourage that. Its spontaneous commentary from members who appreciate the forum Its not elitism .Members are sworn to not disclose any insider information that is shared in there .There are jobs and possible lawsuits on the line .Ergo the reference to fight club. We have had NFL scouts, coaches, players, journalists and members who are close to the SF sporting community share info there . If any general member wants to take a look we can give you a peek .All is required is having being a member for 6 months, having at least 30 posts and having good behaviour and posting standards. BTW You havent been a member since 2010 .The offer is good for to you too.
I know it can be frustrating not being able to access information about something we all clearly love so much. Info in Club has to stay in Club because of where it comes from. Your much less likely to find a troll who's willing to shell out funds to access Club and then run with the info in there. Trust me, if that info was in mains, there wouldn't be any more info. There's no way to protect the sources in such an open environment. And like Crunch said, they have never asked me once to push Club. But I will sell it on my own because in my opinion the close knit group we have in their is amazing, and want people to know more about it.
Oh.. And anyone who watched all of Dans career here in Miami would know the answer to the Poll question.
It's not that the information in Club isn't shared. I understand that completely. It's when it gets teased. Ignorance is bliss!
OKay, let's talk about the thread topic now, shall we...? Maybe we can start a discussion about club and how people are made aware of it in the Site forum or something. Just sayin'. (and p.s. - if anyone t3eases club to you it's because they'd be cool having you in club and want you there, so it's kind of a compliment... only insofar as if ya hate a poster you're not about to encourage him to hang out in a forum where he currently isn't. lol.) Re: Marino's influence on Ross... Ross has a history of convening advisory council's etc and then doing absolutely nothing with them... so there's that.
I think you are probably kidding since you have a Club badge .On the chance you are serious there are no invites required .Just as stated above.Join us .We could use some comic relief .It gets too serious at times.
Yes, $22 a year is very expensive. Wonder how anyone who cannot afford that can even afford to pay for the internet every month?
This team will never be a post season contender under philbin's direction. Ross should not need anyone to tell him. His eyes should be able to see it for themselves.
