It wasn't useless when Rodgers completed the pass on the 3rd and 4 in the New England game to close out the game keeping Brady from having an opportunity to come back. Its hilarious you guys can't see how valuable making that play is. Its obvious why you can't see how valuable it is, because our guy can't do it. Just this season I saw Alex Smith do it. I saw Aaron Rodgers do it. I saw Russell Wilson do it on that spectacular play to Lynch. And I even saw Drew Stanton do it. Thats 4 defenses that didn't have to step out on the field again to protect the lead. In those instances the offense took it upon themselves to protect the lead their own damn selves. That is huge in terms of increasing your chances at winning the game. Again, our defense runs at about 50% in closing out games. My guess is that's average. Do you have any statistical evidence to show they actually are terrible relative to the league in protecting leads? Or you think they should be able to protect the lead 100% of the time? I don't know but I do think our QB should be able to protect the lead in a one score game more than 0% of the time.
And those games are sure going to happen, and certainly you need the ability to close them out both offensively and defensively. However, what this team needs more of, and what the better teams have more of, are the games where no late-game close-out is needed, because the team has been dominant enough throughout not to have the game be at issue late. This team is nowhere near having the number of games in a season in that regard the best teams do. We're stuck talking about single play calls and whether our coach feels "queasy" or whatever, while the Packers, Broncos, and Patriots, for example, are winning convincingly far more often.
Wallace and Landry are keepers, Clay too. If Mattheqs can get his head on straight... We both like #9 from Louisville, I'd love to add him now that OT is taken care of. Add An alpha RB to go with Miller & we'd have a damn good offense then.
Agreed. I'm hoping we can roll with Smith, Turner and Thomas to avoid spending high picks or FA cash. But Colledge has got to go.
I'm all in on turner, liked the pick, but I think we're gonna have to go after a guard no, unless your saying Smith can pass protect well enough.
Well now, whose fault is that? You have to trust your guys, so what if Tannehill got sacked. What a 4th and 17 is very different from not even trying on a 3rd and 9?
