Wow, what a play by Luck!! That is the kind of play I think DJ is longing for with Ryan. I think Tanny can be a better version of Alex Smith and that may be enough if we build around him. But plays like that are special.

 

AL12 was under duress all day and his receivers were dropping passes all day (some phin fans might find this hard to believe that other teams besides Miami have broken pockets on a consistent basis and dropped passes), but he overcame it because he is an ELITE QB! These are things RT17 obviously can't overcome as these are 'go to' excuses for RT17 fanboys...

 

Fin tries to show the kinds of plays we are hoping to see RT make in the future, with the skill set DJ pushes for.....and you make it a pissing contest vs RT17 "fanboys"? Who ever said Ryan is Andrew Luck? Even the most ardent RT supporters never mention Luck.

Luck is stronger which allows him to escape some pressure that Tannehill can't. Just because a QB can't shed pass rushers like Luck or Roethlisberger doesn't mean they can't be pretty good. See Tom Brady.

Dont kid yourself, RT17 will never be as good as AL12. The intangibles that AL12 possesses cannot be teached or learned... Lets just stick with the better version of Alex Smith.

 

You're right about one thing...he is an elite QB. You know, there's a reason Luck went #1 overall. He's a special talent. A once in a generation QB prospect really. Comparing Tannehill to him really isn't fair IMO.

Your right, he was #1 rightfully so, RT17 was a reach at #8 and should of been in round 2.

 

He absolutely still can be very good, I just always thought with his history as a WR that one of his strengths would have been elusiveness or scrambling ability. It's kind of what I thought we were getting to an extent when we drafted him.

 

We would of made the playoffs the past two seasons if we would have sucked enough to draft AL12.... I can only dream...

 

Miami isn't making the playoffs with Luck as their quarterback.

Not completely sure I agree with that but there's no denying that playing in the AFC South instead of the East would be extremely beneficial to anybody. The Colts were 6-0 against the south. No way they pull that off playing Brady twice and Buffalo's defense twice.

 

AL12s offenses have been leading the league in scoring, I highly doubt he would of scored just 7 points in the last two games in 2013 against lame duck NYJ and BUF teams... but keep living in your fantasy land, sometimes I hate the fact that I dont live in fantasyland like some here.

The NFL isn't Madden. Andrew Luck isn't the only player on the offense. Read a book.

No, I do not. At least not a big enough difference in the win/loss category. I have seen too much Luck in this three years. He is in the playoffs because he plays in a terrible division.

I think Luck is going to be one of the best of all time however in his first three years, he looks like a young quarterback, making young quarterback mistakes.

what are you talking about? andrew luck was groomed from childbirth to be a QB. It's all learned and taught. Andrew Luck doesnt play the game instinctively. He plays intellectually. He is this generations peyton manning

 

He still makes mistakes but that's also because he has the confidence in himself to make throws that involve risk...we don't have a lot of that in Miami.

Again I like Ryan's chances of becoming a top 10 QB, but his talent and playmaking ability are nowhere near Lucks...and that's not an insult because not many QBs are.

No, I am just talking about your post. Still do not see anyone comparing RT to Luck. So what exactly did Luck overcome today? Bad OL play and drops. Ryan is not at a point where he can overcome that yet. Seems to me there are not more than a few QB's in the NFL that CAN overcome that. And where did anybody say Ryan is elite?..because he is not. But he can be very good in the future to get us where we want to be.

 

Yes, I am not saying that Ryan has been as good as Luck. I am saying that Luck hasn't been playing so much better than Tannehill that he would make a difference between playoffs and not playoffs.

When I am watching the Dolphins and I am not thinking, "If only they had a better quarterback." I see so many other problems. They would need a quarterback like Rodgers or The Real Manning or Brady to make the playoffs. A quarterback who is so great that he would make a huge difference.

Or what would help Miami is playing in a division with the terrible Titans and worse than terrible Titans Jaguars and the mediocre Texans.

 

AL12 would make a difference for us, AL12 has never put up a combined 7 points in back to back games to finish a season like RT17 did in 2013 (especially against two bad teams like the Jets and Bills, can't blame the D either because they did their part in those games, our anemic offense led by RT17 cost us the playoffs in 2013)

Well it was Andy Dalton without his best two weapons....not hard to look good defensively against that guy.

 

One way to solve that would be to play the Dolphins in the last 5 weeks this season. Andy Dalton would have looked great.
