Why did he have to swim back?? Did no one on the boat realize that he had fallen off??

Sounds like he was out fishing alone. That's an immpressive swim. There are some elite ironman athletes that would have trouble making that swim

He had a good career in Miami. One of the best FB we've had in the last 15 years

The article suggests he was out by himself and fell over. I'm assuming he was trolling and apparently not using a kill switch?

Swimming for nine hours is pretty goddamned impressive, as dumb as he was to get into that situation. I've seen people fail the 10 minute treading water test that PADI makes you do(or did?) for getting scuba certified.

Almost lost my life this past summer saving a kid that got pulled out into the ocean by a vicious undertow, that's a real workout.(treading water, I was treading for maybe 8 mins and i was drained afterward) Lol and I'm in pretty good shape.

I can only imagine swimming 9 miles lol that's navy seal level accomplishment.

When I was a kid, a father of two from my neighborhood drowned after falling overboard between the Bahamas and Florida. He was alone. Boaters, use a kill switch.

Amazing that he did that. Always liked him as a player. Really good receiver out of the backfield.

Always liked Rob Konrad. He wrote something about the Dolphins lack of success around the time he played for us, something to the effect of "For example, the Dolphins drafted me in the 3rd round, as a fullback! You can't win like that!"

I AM A HUGE KONRAD fan and he made a remarkable catch outside the goaline when he slid on his bellie for a touchdown in the Oakland game back in 2002 or 2003 . I wish we had more players like him instead of the sulking monkey shines .

Rob Konrad is underrated as a pass catching fullback . I would have him on our roster any day of the week. man that is impressive to swim that far he deserves a medal .

a 35 ft boat would be tough with a kill switch, aren't they teathered to the starter? A life jacket way way more important. I think they make them with a beacon inside them too.... With his cash he should have had one of those. If he did that without a life jacket all the more impressive.

I did not play fullback for the Miami Dolphins or anything but, if it were me, I would have just climbed back on the boat. Nine hours swims are for LOSERS

the story is that he was alone (well maybe someone was with him but they weren't paying attention), he put the boat on auto pilot when he was fishing, he fell of the boat... then couldn't catch up to the boat because it was... on auto pilot.. so he decided to swim 9 miles... when he made landfall, he only had his underwear on. They didn't say if it was boxers or briefs or other..
