Peyton's arm is getting weaker and weaker.. I've watched many Broncos' games this season and the last 5 games they went to "Fox Ball" to cover up Peyton's shoulder/rotator cuff injury... and with the weather conditions that may come in Foxborough.. I've seen Peyton throw some ridiculous weak passes lately, and against Kansas City in Arrowhead, it was glaring how weak his arm has become due to that injury. Peyton might win tomorrow, but Andrew Luck is the best shot at beating the Patriots.. That weak arm is not something you want to have against Revis.
I like Green Bay too, I wrestled/played football in High School with one of the Green Bay D-Lineman, DE-Mike Daniels, that dude was such a high motor back in the day and he still is, his dad would tell me to rip the heads off of my opponents before my wrestling matches lol you thought Gregg Williams had a mouth on him? You should meet Daniels' dad... great motivator nonetheless.
Smarty pants pats- Not many teams can do this Ravens coach John Harbaugh was a bit peeved by the Patriots' unorthodox, if not questionable substitution tactics. Baltimore found success getting to New England quarterback Tom Brady, and Patriots coach Bill Belichick needed a stop-gap. In the third quarter, Belichick deployed an unusual group of blockers and combined it with some late eligibility reporting to officials. Harbaugh wasn't happy, and let reporters know it afterward. The ever cheeky-in-victory Brady was quick to fire back at the Ravens coach. "Maybe those guys gotta study the rule book and figure it out," Brady said. "We obviously knew what we were doing and we made some pretty important plays." http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...om-brady-on-ravens-complaints-study-the-rules
Brady is so classy and humble. I wasn't aware you could just randomly declare guys to be ineligible, but it looked like that's what the Pats were doing.
Why does always seem when the Pats win there's always something fishy about it? Why does it seem like there's one set of rules for them and another set of rules for everyone else? They seem to always get away with stuff going back to 2001. Seriously, no other team in NFL history has had the special privileges that they do. I can't think of another team in pro sports who get the kind of treatment they do. It's worse than Jordan's Bulls and Shaqs Laker teams. Worse than the Yankees.
Was a little curious to see the refs helping the Pats keep up with all those "taunting" and ticky tack calls against the Ravens.
Agreed (since you didn't mean it). After every legal hit on him he cries for a flag. He even tries to kick players in the groin while sliding. But yeah, others have to study the rulebook. To me he is an arrogant winner, a classless loser and most for all, he is a hypocrit. I guess that's why he is a true Patriot and Goodell and the media love him so much. I hope the Seahawks take care of them in the Superbowl, because that's what I think it will come down to.
The Patriots always stretch the rule book as far as they go. Putting Brady on the Questionable list all season, recording practices, etc. They look for loopholes in the rule book and exploit them. They might go over the line from time to time but for some reason the NFL accepts these rule bending acts. I think it is sneaky and devious and it gives me another reason to hate them. I wish a team would just smack them back down. That is why the Wildcat game was such a great game - because the Dolphins unleashed a rare technique on them and killed them. I hope they get demolished next week. The Patriots are like Gods in New England right now and I feel like moving somewhere else. KP
Every other team, especially our Miami Dolphins, would get called out and penalized for pulling what the Patriots routinely do every year. They have been the NFL's lovechild since 9/11(no coincidence during the height of patriotism that the NFL selected them to be their Cinderella team and rewrote the rulebook for them.) Everything that has happened since the Tuck Rule game has been downright fishy. They replaced the Jets and Cowboys as my most hated team.
I dont see anything the Patriots did wrong yesterday. That was a very well played game by both teams and the Ravens / Kubiak can only blame themselves for the loss. Your bias/hate for the Patriots is blinding all of you. The calls were even, Revis was getting penalized more than he's usually does. Ravens had a two touchdown lead twice and didnt capitalize on it.
With regard to yesterdays game, I agree. They probably didn't do anything wrong, but let's not forget everyone thought so about every game they played between 2001 and 2007. With this team you never now and they do not deserve the benefit of the doubt. As for the officiating. I still think they got the better calls (the non holding call on the Brady run TD was big), but I can't remember a game in Foxboro that seemed to be called so evenly like the one yesterday. And while Revis was called more often than usually, he wasn't called as often as he should have been (there was clearly holding on the one play in the endzone). And I think that should be the measurement.
I don't see it, it was fairly called, multiple Raven touchdown drives had DPI/holding calls on third down that if the referees had any bias toward the Patriots, they would have let it go and then it would have truly been a Patriot blowout win. But the facts are they came back down 14 twice. And that ineligible/eligible receiver controversy is actually legal. They played it by the book and outcoached the Ravens. You all want to complain about 2001-2013 okay go ahead, but I read comments about why aren't they flagging Brady he yelled at ref, blah blah blah, if Tannehill got flagged for yelling at a ref (which he wouldn't, the guy is a robot just like Philbin), we all would be *****ing and moaning. I wish Tannehill would show some emotion on the damn field like Brady, maybe the referees will open their eyes on some of the blatant penalities they missed on our receivers all year long.
FOX Deportes had Brady Poppinga pre-game reporting speaking Spanish on the sidelines. Major props, Brady. Stand up guy.
So ridiculous how much better FOX is at showing games than CBS, or NBC for that matter. CBS - Straight up commercials, 70% of the time. They'll cut out entire plays in favor of commercials. NBC - Waaay too many graphics for my taste. Just an information overload with the on-field statistical displays. Way too many stupid sidelines closeups when they should be showing the action on the field. FOX - Just football. Maybe a Ford/Chevy commercial here and then. Just football.
This drive by the Cowboys is a punch to the gut... 7 minute 21 second drive.. Multiple third down conversions... Need a good drive by Rodgers to give that defense a rest...
That pass interference call was nonsense, I mean in a playoff game in the redzone you call that ****? Cmon NFL, lets decide it on the field.
It's funny to me (in a sad kinda way) to see Gene Steratore as part of an All-Star crew. I still don't expect as many shenanigans as yesterday.
I agree that the Ravens should have held that lead, but if Revis commits 15 penalties, there should be 15 flags. As for the loophole, I expect it to be closed off the field by the competition committee in the offseason. Before then, I'm hoping to see it closed on the field by a defensive player who keeps laying Patriots little guys out until they refuse to be "linemen" in the slot.
Here's a little blurb on Deadspin about the formations: http://deadspin.com/the-patriots-annoyed-john-harbaugh-by-having-fun-with-e-1678818453
the ravens had just as much penalties not called against them as did the Patriots... You guys really need to criticize without bias.. And that still is no excuse for what Kubiak did at the end.
Its the playoffs, its a lot more physical, there will be holds not called on both sides. Thats the way it is, the rules are much more loose than in the reg season
[understand I'm not mad and I'm not trying to antagonize you. read my response as you would read the response of a friend!] The first bold part is impossible. Everybody has a point of view. Anybody claiming to be unbiased on any topic is claiming the impossible, because they're claiming an imaginary "God's eye" point of view. I do understand that you feel our views are a bit distorted against the Patriots. Noted. That doesn't mean we don't have legitimate beef. To me, it's not just about yesterday's game. Revis was called for holding 2 times the entire regular season. The NFL refs act in a similar way to the NBA in some cases, where stars get huge benefit of the doubt. IMO, the Patriots receive more benefit of the doubt than any team in the league. The holds in the end zone--if called--would have changed the outcome of the game, IMO, and they happened. I agree that the play call that essentially ended it was abysmal. I also agree that the throw was even worse. And I agree that the Ravens should have run more to close it out, especially with the 2nd lead. However, coaches who coach conservatively and lose are ripped to shreds by the media. Look at John Fox. I'm sure Kubiak wants to work as a head coach again, so he rode the hot hand in Flacco and it backfired.
