That be great.. I'm almost certain Ross loves New York more than Miami.. he can sell the team here and buy the Nets instead...

I think it doesn't matter if Whiteside starts or not, as long as he spends most time on the floor.
As for Bron, I think if he plays about 7-8 more years he will be top 5 all time, even if he doesn't win another title.

    Birdman's minutes in the last 3 games: 12:17, 26:44, 17:13. Total: 56:14.
    Whiteside's minutes in the same games: 28:55, 21:16, 28:43. Total: 78:54.

It's like a broken record with you. What part of total minute count being more important than starting is so difficult? Seriously. What is your problem?

Dude bought the Nets for something like $220 million. The Clips just sold for TWO BILLION!!!

I'd sell too! That's a crazy return on an investment.

My problem is I don't see starting Whiteside as a deterrent to success. We seem to disagree with that. I think he'll get better playing starter minutes. The more experience he gains the better. Sure if he can get more minutes even if he's not starting, but why not start him? Sure he might pick up early fouls, but let him work out the kinks and he should be fine. Now if he continues to habitually pick up fouls early on games for a sustained period, then bench him. But I just don't see the downside to not starting him at the moment. Unless you give me a logical reason why we shouldn't start him, what's the big deal?

I disagree with your reasoning that the season is lost, therefore we might as well start Whiteside and develop him. The season's not lost, and Whiteside's development doesn't hinge on starting him, his development hinges on how many minutes he plays—and he's playing more than Birdman!

I never said the season is necessarily lost, just that we're not very likely to be contending for a title. Why would starting Whiteside hurt us even if we're contending? In either case, I just think Whiteside should be starting since he's younger and more talented to those who have started at C ahead of him(or before he got here). In the short time he's been here, he's earned a starting spot in this team.

This is the first time all season I'm actually looking forward to a Heat game. I really like watching this kid play. I don't get as many Heat games up here but I try to catch them nationally or online whenever I can. But tonight I wanna see them play. It's a weird feeling I haven't felt since....last summer. :shifty:

6 minutes in and he already has two personal fouls... Hassan really needs to clean that up.... this is what is limiting his minutes .. and other teams are starting to notice he's foul prone so they're going at him..

Anyone know where I can stream the Heat game?

Ah never mind. Game's over. Now 18-22 with upcoming games against Charlotte and Indiana. Not bad. Then Chicago, Milwaukee and Dallas. Then Boston, Detroit and Minnesota. Then the Spurs.

Whadya think...back to .500 after the Cleveland game?

According to the Herald, the Heat are rumored to be looking to make moves and it mentions Cole, Anderson, Deng, Chalmers, McRoberts, and Haslem as guys being talked about as possibilities to get moved. Anyone hear anything other than the Lopez deal?

I dont think Deng gets moved unless he is packaged for an all star in return, but it wont be Lopez.. Deng stays.

Heat go 3-2 on the road trip of death. Much better than the 1-4 some expected. Heat are still under .500, but have gone up to the 7 Seed and are 3rd in the division. No one's catching the Hawks, but getting a mid-level playoff Seeding seems realistic at this point.

MIA vs CLE in round 1?

My problem is that your entire logic is predicated on not contending. As in, "just play the young guys and see what we have for next year." I reject this logic because this Heat team is not in that position. This isn't the Lakers. Whiteside may very well earn a starting spot—but not because the Heat are not contending. It is too early to determine who is and is not contending, especially since this team has two Hall of Famers on it.

Your supporting reasoning is a gigantic knee jerk reaction to something that isn't true. That's my problem with it.

More like let's play guys who have upside for THIS YEAR and see how it works out. What I meant was, we're not a top seeded team at the moment, so starting Whiteside now would not hurt us for the playoffs. That would be a different situation if we were. Since we're a borderline playoff team right now and needing something of a spark to get us playing better, my logic says start Whiteside, have him work out his kinks, then hope we play better after the All-Star break to hopefully catch fire as we make a run for the playoffs.

I don't see starting or not starting Whiteside as a factor that matters for this season. Personally, I would focus on developing Whiteside for the long term. That would involve some starting and some coming off the bench (for the slightly different dynamic), but more importantly it would involve minutes. The minutes are what matters. The starting or not starting designation is largely meaningless.

I agree with you for the most part. I do think when those minutes occur can be important though. When he's out to begin the 3rd quarter and doesn't play for much of that quarter, and your team has clearly been struggling in that quarter, I think you have to change things up. If he's in foul trouble that obviously changes things, but I think it is unwise to sit him for a long period of time in a portion of the game the team has struggled with all season. I don't really care if he starts or not, though, if he's getting his minutes.

You think they make a big trade or fire the coach? Or should I say do you see Lebron making a big trade or firing the coach? I still think the tank is on to get Mark Jackson there.

It is fun, but the coverage isn't the same.

If you think back to that 2010 season, literally every game was a life or death referendum on the entire Big 3 experiment and on LeBron's heart/clutch gene/legacy, etc.

Are the Cavs taking any sort of heat (no pun intended) at all? It certainly doesn't seem like it.

I think most reasonable people thought the Cavs would struggle some to get it together. No one was promising 7 rings, everyone understands that it takes time.

They should have thought the same thing about the Heat, but they didn't.

And it had nothing to do with anybody "promising" 7 rings, which never actually happened anyway.

The Cavs are beyond merely struggling to fit everything together while still winning. They just aren't that good. Unless finally cracking the .500 barrier in the East is a great accomplishment for a team with 3 All Stars.

Kevin Love should be getting killed and having his manhood questioned everyday like Bosh did, but he's not. LeBron should be getting killed for loafing around on defense and only playing hard for the last 2 1/2 games, but he's not. And Kyrie should be getting killed for being, well, Kyrie, but he's not.

The media loves this cockamamie horse-crap story LeBron spoon fed to them that has allowed them to escape criticism. It's bull.

Well I think you hit the nail on the head. Everyone outside of Miami hated the big three and how that got put together so everyone was rooting against them. Honestly, you Heat fans just need to move on. I guess the fact that your team stinks right now adds to the hate but cmon, I mean move on already.

    Move on from what?

    Enjoying the Cavs struggling? Why?

And I wouldn't say the Heat "stink". We're not a championship contender but we have a pretty good team that if it stays healthy will make the playoffs and maybe put a scare into somebody the first round. We understand our goals are more modest now.

The Cavs goals on the other hand should be championship or bust, though nobody seems to be holding them to that

Finally cracking .500? They've been under .500 for all of 2 calender days recently, and like 17 days total this season and been ahead of Miami nearly all season I believe despite the Heat having the "better coach" and Riley, and not Dan Gilbert. Oh we have 3 All-stars? So do the Heat, in Wade, Bosh, and Deng (and two of those three have played multiple seasons together unlike the Cavs all-stars). I'm sure you'd pin that on injury issues though, while failing to recognize any of the same with the Cavs.

No, it is not some great accomplishment, but no one has said it was either.

Deng's certainly not an all star this season and I think he's only made it once before.

And why are you comparing yourselves to the Heat? We're not your competition. I thought the Cavs goal was to compete with the Spurs and Warriors and Rockets.

If the Cavs are satisfied finishing a few games ahead of the Heat then I'm sure they'll accomplish that goal.
