Stringer, do you have a link to where you found this? I'd love to read entire article. Or did you compile stats yourself? Either way, good stuff!

  5. This is why i am boycotting the game if they are bot not suspended from being in it. I am not watching a game that rewards cheaters. If enough people do this and tank the ratings the nfl will be forced to react.

The nfl has already set precedent that they do not need incontrovertible evidence before handing out a punishment. Inconclusive evidence is not going to wash with this one. Something happened to those balls while in the custody of the team. They are responsible and short of having a reasonable explination, which they don't, they need to be penalized

Right. And to think that it became such second nature for the Patriots to deflate the balls during home games, and then re-inflate them to the proper PSI before the next game- to get inspected- then deflate them again for the game..etc.etc.... Its sickening to think that theres even a chance that this will amount to nothing in the leagues eyes. This happened every home game but yet Belichick and Brady were unaware of it.??? PLEASE.

" Home field advantage"... Is it any wonder that this team was almost unbeatable at home .Cheating bastards.

You guys realize that slightly deflated balls mean nothing, right? Statistical differences between balls borders irrelevant... As far as grip, gripping a ball that's deflated is worth an extra millimeter...

a deflated ball relative to the opponents footballs makes it easier to grip, easier to catch, easier to throw, easier to hold on to..doesnt matter what any numbers show.

There is technically a "natural" explanation. If the Pats inflated the footballs in a hot room (~90 deg or more), but then brought those footballs very quickly over into the cooler room (~70 deg) where the refs checked the pressure inside the balls immediately after. The air inside the footballs would still be around the temperature of the hot room. If the refs check the pressure at that point, then it's effectively asking how big the decrease in psi would be from 90 to 51 degrees (51 deg = outside temperature at kickoff), instead of from 70 to 51 degrees. It's estimated that you only get a 1 psi loss from 70 to 51, but 2 from 88 to 51.

I guess if the Pats were smart enough to do that, then it's technically not cheating since they didn't tamper with the footballs after the refs checked them. But I really doubt they were that smart; if they were, that story would've come out by now. And interviews with the refs would confirm the balls were unusually warm/hot to the touch (so far no news like that).

Then why do it? Why risk all this to do it?

The fumble numbers prove what you're saying to wrong.

I suggest you take a look at the data in the charts and link Stringer posted. It doesn't mean nothing. It's given them a competitive advantage. That's why they have taken the risk. And now it's time to reap it.

This game (likely more through the years) was arrived at with the integrity of the game having been compromised (in many ways).

Besides Aaron Rodgers there's no other quarterback better in cold/rain conditions that is fact. Brady has played in those conditions since his collegiate years.

Because no one else has played in those conditions year after year.

The jealous haters are just trying to bring him down with yet another cheating accusation.

I don't know what to believe, I know that Brady is a great qb but in the cold if the balls were defeated on purpose it could help.

But I don't know what to think anymore, I just don't understand why the colts balls are not being compared to the oats balls in every way.and I'm not smart enough to digest everything that is being said at this point and come to a conclusion..

You're asking the right questions. Belichick's purpose today was to create confusion and doubt.

Also, I know Brady is a great QB, or at least he's close to the top, but a deflated football makes playing in cold weather a lot easier. Remember, Brady's reputation was partially made by how well he has performed in bad conditions. I believe this has been going on for a long time, and it should hurt Brady's reputation. I'm not naive enough to think his reputation will suffer, though. "Haters are trying to bring him down" will be the entire story soon. That's why I made my sarcastic post, unfortunately without labeling it as such.

Based on the assumption that fumbles per play follow a normal distribution, you’d expect to see, according to random fluctuation, the results that the Patriots have gotten over this period, once in 16,233.77 instances”.
Which in layman’s terms means that this result only being a coincidence, is like winning a raffle where you have a 0.0000616 probability to win. Which in other words, it’s very unlikely that it’s a coincidence.

Belichick was getting knocked by the press for seemingly throwing Brday under the bus in his first interview. Today was nothing more than trying to make himself look better and praise his team in the meantime. He even got mad at times to try and drive his point home. I don't buy it, not for a minute. Will the NFL buy it? Only if they want to.

I have only read transcripts of today, but Brady's presser the other day was something to listen to. Tom sounded as uncomfortable as I have ever heard him.

To me, it seemed like such a straight line to say "I like the football a little light, but I always thought it was within the legal limits. Sorry for the honest mistake."

Instead, we get what we got. Topped off with a heaping help of disdain today. Pats' fans are being their usual charming selves online. I guess all is right with the world.

Most Pat fans are morons. The cheating has been proven once, even though they still minimize Spygate, and it's not a huge leap to believe that they are still doing it. The study I posted above is just one more thing that points to their not only current cheating, but a long history of continuous cheating. All these years I always thought the Pats were the luckiest team ever. It seems now that their luck may have been cheating.

If Brady altered those balls, or had someone else do it, (the latter seems to be the best bet) I'm sure BB knew about it. This has been going on for years.

If , and I mean IF that's the case, then Bradys shaky press conference makes more sense. But, I still don't believe Belichick, at all.
