If we're gonna splurge I'd rather do it for a guy like AD. Send the Vikes a pick, put him in the backfield and let him + Miller run it 30-35 times per. We might literally run for 170 yards per game. That would put RT in the 25-30 passes per game range, increasing his efficiency. Wallace could run wild in the secondary while teams over commit to stop the ground game. The defense would improve simply from sitting on the sideline for 33-35 minutes a game. Add a young WR who can run slants, digs, screens and fades, with some YAC ability, he'll feast on single coverage along with Landry and Clay.

Thats ts a path I can see clearly.

I'm pretty certain CK could talk me into anything. That's a persuasive argument. How many teams are realistically in the Suh hunt?

Except it's about getting the richest deal for Suh. Can Miami do that?

They might be able to if they clear some cap space. A few people on this board already gave examples of how to do it.

I hope not. He may be a great DT, but IMHO he's not worth the cost or the risk. Let someone else take that gamble.

Next year. And, let's be honest here, Mike Wallace is NOT worth what he's being paid. He's not. He doesn't fit with what Tannehill does well, so I'd be in no hurry to keep him around. Miami could, and it's certainly an option, but I believe his salary spikes back up again next year so I think if you're going to end up extending the three players you mentioned - Tannehill, Vernon and Pouncey - with our without Suh, this is most likely Wallace's last season here if Miami chooses to keep him in 2015.

And if you can't see what Suh would do to benefit the defense, I'm just not sure what to tell you. His presence alone makes Wake and Vernon better, and he's better than any DT Miami had on the roster in 2013 or 2014. He walks into the locker room and is the best player on the Dolphins roster.

I think the dislike of Brady is no more than jealousy by the fans of other teams.

I don't know a single fan who doesn't wish their team was playing in the Super Bowl tomorrow and for Brady and Belicheck this will be the sixth SB they have been to together.

I have no doubt that if Brady and Belicheck had been in Miami, instead of New England and the Dolphins had the same success as the Patriots over the past decade, fans around the country would probably hate the Dolphins, but Dolphin fans would be the first to come to the defense of Brady and Belicheck.

I love the Dolphins and I will be pulling for the Seahawks tomorrow, but I also admire the career Brady has had with the Patriots and I would have loved to have seen him have that career as the QB of the Dolphins.

Maybe for some, but I'm a Dolphins fan who plays in the same division as the Patriots, so I hate the Patriots and Tom Brady with his little temper tantrums every time he gets touched by somebody or doesn't get a call. I hate the Patriots, simple as that. I hate the Bills. I hate the Jets. Thats just the way it is. Has nothing to do with jealousy. They had their success (granted, cheating to win 3 Super Bowls*), so congrats to them, but doesn't change the fact I dislike that whole organization top to bottom.

BTW, they are a cheating organization, so it's easy for other team fans to hate the Pats as well. Jealousy might play a part for some, but for others/most, its the fact that the Pats are a classless, cheating organization that shows a lack of integrity for the game.

When I was as young as you are, I probably stated my dislike for other teams the Dolphins played against in their division, just as you do now.

My dislike for the Raiders and the Cowboys probably started because these were the teams which prevented the Dolphins from winning more Super Bowls in the 1970's.

As I've gotten older, I have realized that there is no reason to hate the other teams or the players. It's not their fault that the Dolphins can't compete with the Patriots over an entire season. The fault lies completely with the Dolphin organization.

I have no desire wasting my time being upset that other teams are consistently better than the Dolphins. My disgust is for the ownership of the Dophins and how inept Ross has been with hiring the right individuals to turn this franchise into a winner again.

I just wish Ross was smart enough as an NFL owner to hire someone like Belicheck and that the offense had a QB as effective as Brady.

I remember when Marino was at the height of his career and fans of other teams didn't like him because he was frequently shown on TV yelling at his teammates. As Dolphin fans, we understood that this was just Marino's way of getting his teammates to respond in the game and it was part of his makeup as a professional athlete.

To outsiders he might have looked like a jerk, but for Dolphin fans, He was our QB and he could do no wrong.

The fans of the Patriots love Brady and Belicheck and I am sure that is all both of them care about. The fact they may not be liked by the fans of other teams around the league probably doesn't matter to either of them one bit.

Once again, your failing to look at the FACT that the Patriots are a cheating organization, making it easy to hate them. Your making this out to be like i'm 'jealous', im not. They are PROVEN CHEATERS! TWICE! I'm a die hard football fan that is a die hard Dolphins fan, so of course I hate the Patriots, Bills, and Jets. Maybe your not. We aren't all the same in our fandom.

As far as my problems with the Dolphins go, those problems always change.... But my hate for the Cheatriots, Bills, and Jets will always stay the same.

Instead of trying to sound smart, perhaps you should read the terms of the bet again. I'm not betting the field. I'm betting the teams I listed.

Well, lets see. The best player at his position is a FA.
Starks is old and Odrick is meh.. Ross has the money but not sure on the cap implications.
We are missing attitude on this team and I don't give a hoot about what Philbin likes or dislikes with players like this.
Of course I'd try to get him, at least make an effort and prove to the Dolphins' faithful that they mean business.

    Dj,

Suh is NOT going to be a Dolphin next season. I don't believe Philbin wants him on the team and I just don't see Suh wanting to play for a coach like Philbin.

My prediction is he will end up with the Raiders, Cowboys, or one of the New York teams.

No more than the Dolphins are, but some individuals still think the Dolphins are going after Suh.

I think he will end up with the Raiders, but if the Cowboys, Jets, or the Giants decide to go after Suh, they can always cut players to get enough cap room to go after him.

The Jets already have the cap space, but they also have less of a need at DL then at other positions. So I would be surprised if they made a run at Suh, but with all the money they have to spend in free agency and a new coaching staff, you never know.

To me, if he is looking to go to a team with a legitimate chance of winning multiple Super Bowls over the next five years, Suh should sign with the Colts if they show interest in him in free agency.

The Colts have over $30 million in cap space and Suh would upgrade their defense immediately. With Luck as their QB and Suh heading up their defense, the Colts could easily become the next team to dominant the AFC conference over the next decade.

I have no idea if the Colts are looking at signing Suh, but if they are smart, he is the one player in free agency who would instantly make them the SB favorite in the AFC heading into next season.

I hate it when people talk like this.. "when you're older, you'll be wiser and will see things the way I do" LOL. Dude, there are lots of people around your age (whatever age that is) who hate certain athletes or sports teams. Are you going to say all of them are just not "mature enough"?

As for me, I respect the hell out of Brady because he's really good at what he does, but I hate him too because he's an enemy. This is not unlike how you can have respect for an adversary (even in wartime) but still hate them. Has nothing to do with lack of maturity.

If the Dolphins paid Earl Mitchell 4 year, $16 million, how would Odrick's contract not be worth more? I feel like $6 million per year for Odrick would be very well worth it. Maybe I just feel like Odrick is more of a presence than some of you....

I don't doubt Suh will make the defense better - but is he the missing piece for Miami? If you're willing to pay $15 million for a defensive tackle, he better be the key to a championship. The Dolphins would still have a plethora of different issues that would need to be addressed after Suh (NT, ILB, CB, FS, WR, RB). Also, would giving Suh such a large contract jeopardize Miami's ability to re-sign Tannehill next year?

You are certainly entitled to your opinion regarding my refusal to hate individuals who play a game for a living. I was in Vietnam, so using a comparison of someone trying to kill me and a player who is the QB of an opposing team is about as ridiculous as anything I have ever read on this forum.

I guess a lot of younger fans just want a reason to hate today. I don't understand the need to hate the opposition, but I guess there are a lot of things I don't understand about the younger generation.

Answer my question. Is every person, regardless of age, that hates an athlete or sports team, not "mature enough" in your mind? This has nothing to do with age, as I pointed out, because you find people of all ages that hate athletes or sports teams.

And my analogy was right on. You don't seem to understand it's possible to respect and hate at the same time. THAT is what that analogy was referring to.
