That's pretty good and let's face it we could beat some of the AFC North teams they have ahead of us. I like that we're ahead of potential playoff teams like the Sains, Panthers, Texans, Chargers, 49ers. If we get those late season wins under our belts, we're definitely moved in the right direction next season.
Great point here. We've seen so many QB's from the same few classes struggle and regress after initial success, while RT17 just keeps getting better. I get the impression that Miami has done things the right way with Tannehill - more of a classic ascension for a QB. It's starting to pay off. Even Sherman may have helped by not having him run all over the field early on.
I'd agree from an offense standpoint, but not from a defense or special teams angle. Our STs, except some Landry highlights, was subpar IMO. How many fake punts burned us?
#13 and we don't even know if we're losing our 2 starting defensive tackles, our starting safety, our starting corner back,Questions galore with our linebackers,Gibson,Hartline, and Wallace are all question marks,Albert might be ready for the start of next season,Offensive line depth problems, 2 offensive guard question marks,no idea regarding the draft yet we're #13
Pretty impressed with what Hickey did in one offseason. Kind of excited to see what he can do with resignings, FA and the draft.
If Ross had made the Intelligent move and fired Philbin, I might buy into the Dolphins being a playoff team next year with a decent head coach. I have zero confidence in Philbin as a head coach and I think it is far more likely the Dolphins will end the season next year below 500, than it is they will be a playoff team. Right now I see the Patriots and Bills as the two top teams in the AFC East and Miami just a bit better than the the Jets heading into next season.
I like the signing of Albert and the drafting of James and Landry, but let's not go overboard on Hickey just yet. He took over as the GM of a team which went 8-8 the previous year and all the talent he added did nothing but help the team finish 8-8 again this past season. If the Dolphins don't improve next year and make the playoffs. I imagine Tannenbaum will be looking to hire not only a new head coach, but also a new GM after the 2015 season. I think Hickey is a better GM than Ireland, but with just one year left on his contract and with Tannebaum now his direct boss. Hickey has only this coming off season to prove to Tannebaum that he deserves to be this teams GM in the future.
Yeah, I'm on the record questioning Rizzi and the ST play this year. KO return was average or better, but I think most other units were subpar, even factoring out Fields and what's his face.
I can just remember one fake punt this year. I think the best thing the STs did was number of blocked punts/field goal attempts this season. I think we had at least 6.
Lions twice in that game - I believe Miami stopped the second one, and Jets in the finale. I don't know if there were others aside from those three.
I know people like to point our defense but we were decimated at injuries this year. If we can get anyone step up from Jordan, Taylor or Davis plus upgrade our LB corp through the draft or FA they can be elite in no time.
