Probably should've clarified myself about the prior 5-tech comment. There seem to be a bunch of them in this draft, just not as many that fit my personal preference of 6'4+ and 290+ (on the minimum side).
Thanks for the Gotsis stuff. Hadn't seen much GA Tech this year, missed the MissSt game...but that is one exciting prospect. Good grief the raw athletic potential there is tremendous. Looks like he's strong as hell for that size, nice broad frame, relentless motor to go with that ability, quick and obviously explosive. At the first glance/initial eyeball level he just has that look of being a totally natural athlete. Complete control of his movements and abilities...the kind that makes you think he could play any sport or position he chooses. For a guy with his gifts the potential is huge. Technique obviously a work in progress. He hasn't declared, has he?
I haven't heard of him declaring. He could be one for next year. I'd like to see him stay in school and maybe take that one more step which could allow him to make some statistical noise and then make him an elite prospect. When I've watched him over the last year sometimes I really get J.J. Watt type vibes from him.
Oooooooh... I like me some Jean Sifrin. He's a 6'7" & 250 lbs tight end out of UMass. Only one year of college football because...well, combination of things. He's 27 years old. He got into trouble in high school and decided to get work right away (has a kid) and worked at a Publix warehouse. Then he broke up with his baby mama and started playing flag football in Miami where he got noticed by a college recruiter who recruited him to play at ASA College in Brooklyn. But he got into trouble there and had to transfer to El Camino Community College in California. He claims he got into trouble for something he didn't even do, kind of implied to me is there was stuff he did actually do that he could have gotten into trouble for. He stood out at El Camino and had teams like USC and Oklahoma looking at him but they didn't pull the trigger. The guy who recruited him to ASA evidently was still looking out for him though. That's a plus as he's evidently not such a dastardly fellow that friends are willing to abandon him. The guy had connections with The U and asked him if he wanted to go there, but Sifrin actually refused. He said that being back in Miami would have been bad for him. That's a pretty mature decision. The guy also had a connection with Mark Whipple at UMass (probably for the same reason he's recruiting kids out of Miami and has connections with The U) and he set up a meeting. Whipple loved him. Signed him up. Whipple you may remember did this with Jimmy Graham at The U. OK fast-forward. I knew absolutely nothing about any of this when I watched his Colorado film. My reactions to this film: 1. This guy has no clue what he's doing out there. He's like a baby deer out there. A monstrous, incredibly athletic baby deer. 2. Catches the ball like he's slapping together two tennis rackets (considering the size of his hands that's pretty much what he's doing). 3. This dude is pretty fast. He's outrunning Jimmie Gilbert who runs in the mid-4.7's, and it's not long before Colorado starts putting 200 lbs DBs on him. 4. Obviously, some pretty damn good potential. Frame is massive, wouldn't be shocked at 6'7". Great athleticism for that frame. I decided to look at a second film: I got one play in before I could tell that he was already 150% better in terms of technique and knowing what he was doing out there. I still didn't know anything about him. I didn't even know whether the Colorado game came first or whether the Toledo game came first, but I sure had a good guess. So that's when I looked, realized he's played one year of college football, and the Colorado game was only his first game since El Camino. The Toledo game was toward the end of the year. That all made a hell of a lot of sense. So that's when I checked out his story and you can read all that above. Let me show you something: http://www.nfldraftscout.com/members/ratings/profile.php?pyid=96324 That's the NFL Draft Scout profile for CB Chris Dukes of Toledo, who supposedly clocks in the 4.49 range on campus testings. Now let me show you this and you go ahead and look for jersey #5 on Toledo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGQfhSPVOLg&feature=player_detailpage#t=200 Granted, Dukes displays a little hesitation...but that's a 4.49 corner trying to tracking down a 6'7" tight end, and he looked so helpless as to be flat out SCARY. You love a guy with massive physical potential that is asked to play a big role right away at a stage he's never been to before and can do it immediately. You also love when a guy shows such a steeply-inclined learning curve. These are the things that attracted me to Jimmy Graham way back when. I'm not saying he's Jimmy Graham. But he damn well could be Julius Thomas.

Defensive Ends B.J. Dubose Louisville https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMIOpAVkIqM Mike Reilly William and Mary https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OrOtpfZzlk
LT Tayo Fabuluje TCU 6'7 360 lbs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkP3N7yJjso He quietly gets the job done- at the end of the day that's what made Ju'Wuan James a darned good RT- an efficiency that will kind of lull you to sleep. This is Oklahoma that Fabuluje is playing against- he just subtly dominates, like Andre the Giant going against a smaller wrestler who says f*** it, this guy is just too damn big. It's like Oklahoma doesn't even want to challenge him- Oklahoma. Fabuluje wins most of the matchups, often unchallenged. And he moves pretty darned well for 6-7 360 lbs. Oklahoma DE/LB Geneo Grissom does knock Fabuluje on his butt at 6:10 in the clip, good for him, I'm going to try to find out a little more about him. Reminds me a little of that Auburn LB tossing Cyrus Kuouandjio.

Total Buckeye homer here. Love the guy. Physical freak w/ incredible ups. I am dying to know how fast he is and what kind of vertical he puts up at the combine. Love how he goes after the ball in the air. Crazy yards per catch he has put up and that he has surpassed some great OSU receivers like Chris Carter, Terry Glenn and Joey Galloway in TD catches with 30. Honestly I'm dreaming of a WR more in the 6'3" range, but w/ that kind of ability to go up and after the ball he might as well be 6'5".
Been doing some research on small school guys lately. The more tape I see of TE Jermaine Clemon of Concordia, the more I like him. The guy really shows up every play, every game. He's right in Charles Clay's mold.
CB Damian Swann of Georgia had one HELL of a game against Tennessee. And what I like most about it is he didn't have a hell of a game because he got some flashy picks that came right to him or anything like that. He just played almost perfect football for a corner, was used everywhere on the defense, competed like HELL at everything he did, and showed the speed and physicality to take on anyone. I mean I'm already watching the game and my jaw is dropped he's playing so well, and now with like 5 minutes to go in the 4th quarter up 28-25, Georgia punts and the Tennessee returner fakes like he's going to catch the ball at the 20 even though the thing is is about to land at the 6 yard line, Swann recognizes it once the ball hits the ground, hits the afterburners and swats the ball to keep it from going into the end zone. This pinned Tennessee at their own 1 yard line. He's out there playing perimeter, slot, safety, lining up with the linebackers as he's matched in man coverage against a 6'5" & 240 lbs tight end. He had 4 interceptions this year, 4 forced fumbles, a 99 yard fumble return TD, 65 tackles (4th best on the team). He might be this year's Kyle Fuller, to me. Maybe not QUITE as good as Fuller. Although, maybe he is.
I believe in this draft with the Dolphins a punter is top priority. In round one get that franchise punter. Then in the second they should grab that illusive long snapper followed with a holder for field goals to round out the first 3 rounds. Then they should finish of the draft by getting all special teamers like long snappers, place kick holders, onside kickers and shotgun centers. Then with free agency they can lure away top notch special teamers away from teams by throwing loads of money and huge signing bonuses. Miami can set the market value for special teamers for years to come. By having the highest paid shotgun center, the Dophins will be set. The Dolphins need that super place kick holder that they have been missing for so long and once they have him in place, more players will follow when they see that cash waved in their face. They should also set their sites on third down nose tackles which the draft is loaded with along with a good second down over the center center. Filling these needs will not only clear a path for the Super Bowl, it would make them a great destination for fourth down signal callers and first down dime package cornerbacks. Lets keep our fingers crossed.
I don't even know or think he will be drafted, but what do you think of the report of Marshall switching from QB to CB to increase his chances in the NFL... Barely has a body of work in that position for scouts to look into...
I had not realized Chris Hackett declared for the NFL Draft. That's a big name to drop on the safety board. He should be among Miami's top targets in the 2nd day. Meant to say this about Devin Smith. He, and lots of other starters for the National Champion Buckeyes, plays special teams. Not only does he play them he does so w/ intensity and passion. Like a real football player. Love the attitude.
Melvin Gordon write-up. Apparently he's not afraid of hard work. http://host.madison.com/sports/coll...cle_d10d9800-a9bc-5139-af51-76b879b6718f.html
I really wish Karl Joseph was declaring for this draft. Dude has so many flashes of Earl Thomas to me and I think this is the draft that we need to get a safety early within the first 3 or 4 rounds.
Grady Jarrett out of Clemson is a mid round DT that I like a lot. Watched him work offensive linemen in the Senior Bowl. Has a really quick first step and a high motor. There's not much tape of him specifically, but all you have to do is look up Vic Beasley tape and you'll see that just about every QB hurry that isn't #3, is usually #50.
Was snooping a little on DeVante Parker and came across this chart. Did Megatron really run a 4.35?!? http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...ith-amari-cooper-kevin-white-as-drafts-top-wr Point of the article is top WR prospects typically either have elite size or speed. Shocking.
I love that White-Julio and Parker-Green comparison they made. I've been saying this for a while. I'll take either one with the 14th pick and if they are both going to be gone by then I would be willing to trade up to the 8-10 range to grab one.
Totally agree. Grady Jarrett flashes NFL talent. If we sign a free agent DT1, I'd be all for him as our DT3 in the later rounds.
My hope is that we bring Odrick back and go after a good DT3 that can learn behind Starks/Odrick/Mitchell for a few years.
I've been watching a decent amount of film on Vic Beasley, Dante Fowler Jr, and Randy Gregory. The thing I really noticed is these guys are all athletic, but really can't get off blocks. Gregory just looks weak to me and I haven't really been impressed with any of the film I've seen of his. Beasley is a freak and probably has the best pass rushing moves of the group, but it seems like all he has is his spin move and quickness to beat OTs off the edge. Whenever he is engaged, he's pretty much taken out of the play. Fowler is my favorite of the group with his versatility. This guy can play about 5 different positions. I noticed that he contains well on every single read option. He's strong. Whenever a TE or a back tries to get their hands on him, he throws them around like a rag doll. He did it some too against Kentucky offensive linemen. I would like to see him use his hands more when pass rushing and develop some pass rushing moves. He relies on his athleticism too much. I'm going to start watching some more of Shane Ray. He interests me as well but I haven't watched as much film on him as the other 3.
If we were looking for a guy to put behind Cameron Wake to eventually take over on the left end.....who do you see in the first/2nd or even the 3rd round who would be most viable to being that complete guy?
I don't watch film like you and some other guys do, but what I had seen of him I loved. Attitude and ability all over the place. Oh well.
QB Paxton Lynch of Memphis already has my interest for next year but a guy on the defense that I will be watching is DE Ricky Hunter. Flashed on the tape a little bit. BIG guy, some explosive movement.
I really want to like the other Mizzou edge man, Markus Golden. Maybe a day 2 guy (depending on where teams see his best positional fit, which is the issue). This is just an awesome kid who loves the game and plays with a fantastic motor. Pretty explosive, heavy hands, pretty stout, passionate. Trouble is he's undersized, really lacks length...possible conversion to LB. But man I just love his attitude, and he played almost exclusively on the left like Wake does. I'm curious to see where he weighs in and how he tests with some of the lateral/quickness drills at the combine. So yeah his body is not the prototype which raises lots of questions, but there's a lot to like about this kid. Just a football player.
Got a full-on man crush over Nelson Agholor. Thoughts on pairing him with Landry? Inside-outside? To me he seems like just the kind of guy Tannehill loves throwing to...then you get the big plus with his RAC ability. Looking forward to seeing how he times this weekend. Want to see him run fast, but not...too fast.
I concur. Especially if Tannehill actually has a problem throwing TDs from outside the redzone. Agholor can replace Wallace's production (TDs) in the redzone, where he excels.
Was it Todd who was high on Eddie Goldman? I think I like him better than Malcolm Brown and Jordan Philips, and there are instances where I like him better than Danny Shelton. I guess it depends on what type of DT you need.
Tyler Lockett- look at the stop and go at 1:50 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCAdtzKnIDs Plays smart, has a burst and has the wheels, all wrapped up in a smart and by all accounts good human being. Not to mention being a stellar kick returner.
Is Shane Ray definitely a better prospect than Bud Dupree? I've been going back and forth, and even though I feel like Ray's power is more natural with leverage, Bud's combine today again has me...piqued (at 6'4 269 he ran 4.57, 42 vert, 11'6 broad...I mean damn). I'd liked to have seen Dupree play on a defense that wasn't Kentucky, frankly. Are either of them in play for us at 14? Are they a fit, particularly with the Dion Jordan experience going on? Dupree's first step is sick, and even though he can get kinda high I feel like Dupree holds up better at the poa against big physical linemen than Dion did/does. But I guess these guys would do the same kind of stuff (roaming LB at los, chasing sideline-to-sideline, rushing in nickel/passing situations). I dunno, I just like him a lot.
