Whatever extra revenue generated is also subject to revenue sharing. So Stephen Ross is reaping the benefits of that stadium as well.

That win was pretty mystical and will do down in history as one of the best ever.

Wanting your team to play like a Super Bowl team does not make one less of a fan. If you are ok with Dolphins being average which is what they have been for what seems like forever now that is your choice.

a wait list of 35,000 people and going on over a 100 sellouts in a row is a small stream?

see if the design is right, there will be no more empty sets, there will be demand..when there is demand, there is only so much supply, raise prices..

Garfinkle posted some new pics today on Twitter of the upper corner being torn out, and some of the old retractable baseball seating being torn out. I saw them on my phone, but can't access twitter here at work. Someone may want to grab them and post them.

no sir, I watched all fans on their feet in the fourth quarter screaming their ***, and believe me I was watching closely, I commented on it in the game thread, the fans were amazing considering how the team was performing, they never gave up as a whole..

Why do I talk highly of seattle?....because they got their venue right, and they drafted the qb I wanted, and both entities have performed at a high level and proved my point..

Im really not a fan though of the team, i just respect what they did with their venue the most and how they continue to evolve it.

I'm not sure merchandise revenue on "12th Man" shirts, etc. is subject to revenue sharing. I think the teams keep their own for that kind of merchandising. But I could be wrong on that.

I guess folks trivialize their individual and team accomplishments to make themselves feel better about our situation.

sure, but our citizens are not having that so its not relevant in this case..just talking about the concept...The fact that were doing something about reconfiguring the lower bowl is an great achievement initself, and a sign that something was really wrong.

The wait list isn't much of a stream. I think its like $100 per person for their Blue Pride club and there are 12000 of those. so that's $1.2 million. Yeah, pretty small in the scheme of things.

And pro sports season tickets don't respond to supply and demand in a dramatic way. For example, the cheap seats in Seattle are $51/game for season tix, despite the wait list. While that is higher than in Miami, keep in mind that Seattle has no real endzone uppers, so the cheapest seats there are comparable to somewhat "better" seats at Sun Life. Those comparable seats at sun Life are $42/game, so while there is a difference, it is not huge. That $9/game difference is $90/yr, which comes out to about $1 million per year for around 12,000 of those. Again, pretty small, especially when you consider that the revenue is shared. Also, keep in mind that most things are less in Miami as the overall cost of living is lower by around 10% or so, which probably explains more of the ticket price difference than supply and demand does.

well, if your like me and you believe in what something like this concept accomplishes, then extra games in playoffs are a big stream..culture developing is a stream...

I agree that the venue is worth something to team success, but I think even you have to agree that its the players, and not the stadium, that put them in their second straight Super Bowl. They were poor to mediocre for several years in that exact same stadium and it wasn't magically getting them into the playoffs.

of course without a certain level of talent on your ball club it doesn't matter, but whatever level you do have, iits going to be raised in a building like that..it matter Fineas and is worth points..

It's worth something, I just don't think there is a tangible economic return on the hundreds of thousands in additional investment that would be involved in a complete rebuild compared to what they are doing.

its hard to prove because we have no numbers, and there are some intangible things like publicity thats hard to put a price tag on..but I believe it would pay off, especially culturally and competitively.

in our situation you also have to remember were talking about two programs that could be directly affected and I always accounted for that when begging for a new one.

Ill let you know what he says. It may explain your concerns as to why they didnt just build a new stadium with the benefits of the likes in Seattle.

Thanks buddy but I already know the answer..you'd have to really get into the concept of intelligent design and how that impacts a franchise culturally, competitivelyand monetarily to engage what he isn't thinking about..better yet if you get a chance just point out sthe Seattle blueprint and why are owners and execs like him ignoring the blueprint and the tremendous affects it's having on all three things I mentioned.

"Should be" because I've never been to Miami, however I see that 130k work downtown and live else where. So, it seems like it must be there, I just cannot say for sure and could easily be corrected.

I live in Portland and see games at CenturyLink. I've driven directly (parking at park and rides and downtown) back after a game, taken a train back, and stayed in a hotel downtown and never had an issue. Granted, it's not in the middle of downtowns buildings, but it's like 5 blocks away. 10 minute walk at most.

Timbers games are played on the edge of Portlands downtown in an area without major parking structures for a number of blocks. They just run free shuttles and extra light rail trains.

I guess when I think of downtown stadiums I don't just mean in the defined downtown area. As long it's less than a 10 to 15 minute walk, it feels downtown to me, and what ever infrastructure is in place to support down town should work for the stadium.

Since TAMU owns the rights to "12th Man", I think they are the only ones entitled to monies which is like 5k a year to use. I don't see how the NFL could weasel into a business relationship with non-NFL licensed apparel.

They sued the Seahawks for $100k and a $5000 annual licensing fee. It only allows them to use it for marketing and promotional. No merchandise sales. That deal is up in 2016 and because of the Seahawks use of social media which blew the regional use out of the water...that deal is expected to be much bigger.

And yah as far as stadium design etc goes. Miami puts together a consistent winner and people will show. Miami averaged around 71,000+ (bigger then Seattle's capacity by several thousand) during the Wanny years and we never really did much then in the postseason either.

They're making good progress by the looks of things. Cleaning that cement is a good idea while you have all the seats ripped out.

I think they are. And I think that's due to the lower bowl being extended closer to the field on the sidelines; you wouldn't be able to see from those corners.

''its tough to come out flat with the place is rocking''

mark few..coach of gonzaga, lil off topic but very relevant to why structures are being moved..

he went into details of the home field advantage saying that he notices that when the stands are not full that players respond negatively, and just the opposite when full.

how the dolphins and canes have competed is a serious matter.

We avg'd 71k during the Wanny years. A consistent playoff winner will create quite the wait list in Miami since they are cutting down the max seats.

And holy crap they are making good progress, but then I guess it's easier to destroy stuff over putting in fresh.

its just gonna look quite funny I think to have the sections from the 20 to the 20 moved closer and everything else the same..of course it will be a better atmosphere, but I'm not sure how their going to symmetrically fuse it together with the corners and end zones.

just because we average that number doesn't mean thats how many asses were in their seats..point remains van, hopefully this venue will encourage folks to become more of a serious 12th man, its so important..

Just from the projected pictures, I don't think there's really a way to mesh the corners with the sideline stands just based on the structure of everything else. I think the sidelines being closer will help. I think the canopy should have an effect similar to Seattle where it's able to project fan noise back down on the field. While I don't think it's as great as a new stadium would have had the potential to be, I think it's pretty damn good for what they've had to work with all things considered.

I can attest that for the last playoff victory, against the Colts in 2000, the place was rocking. There were 73k plus that day.
I had seats going back to the OB and it will never compare to that, but the place can get loud.

It is good that seats will be moved closer to the field and that sound will bounce off the roof. However, there could be as many as 8,000 fewer people that can attend a playoff game due to the reduced capacity. 8,000 people can make a lot of noise.

its about how the current design deflates fan interaction..and its all relative to what you define as rocking and what level it has to be to make a difference in players, attendance, and competitive advantage.
