The dunk over ONeal was Wade telling the eastern favorite Pacers that this isnt going to be an easy series. SVG screwed up that series though benching Wade for 3 point shooting....

Take it with a big grain of salt but a Bucks "insider" on RealGM is saying that the Bucks are trading for Cole, no details.

No idea of his veracity but he seems to have some credibility over there, and why lie about Norris Cole of all people?

I doubt we get a player for him. Though with the roster space, we probably can do Deng for Thomas/Green..

Some people on the Real gm board said the insider may have heard Norris Cole Sucks but instead confused it with Bucks..

My favorite Wade dunk and maybe the best dunk in Heat history:

I was sitting behind the Cavs bench for that game. That happened right in front of me, Lebron turned around and started laughing as he asked Mike Brown to change the lineup.

    More RealGM stuff:

The Suns board is talking about a Deng for Isaiah Thomas/Gerald Green swap, and now Woj just tweeted that if the Suns make a move those two are the most likely to be involved

Would be great if that happens.. Love Deng.. but if you can get two serviceable players for one.. you do it....

Make that trade happen.. trade away Norris for a second round pick, or anything....

Only issue is it's just fan speculation. We have to hope that Riley isn't being stubborn about 2016.. just get players that can play..

Hopefully they're not just reading the ESPN article that seemed like speculation. That would be a nice deal for the Heat IMO. It weakens you at the 3, but not a ton and gives you the point guard you need for now, and a very good 6th man if you can land a guy like Conley moving forward.

That deal looks great on paper....but....

If you take on Isaiah Thomas..you are taking on another contract you have to move in the next year. MORE WORK for Riley...unless you think Thomas is a longterm piece. I don't. I think he is a short term fix, and merely moves Miami back into talks of being top 4 in the east.

I don;t care about being top 4. I care about building the next champion.

I'm a little surprised at the support for the idea of trading Luol Deng. He's a good player and the Heat have horse **** sitting behind him at that position. Who the hell is going to play small forward when Deng is ditched? Danny Granger?!?

I guess if the idea is to throw Ennis into the fire then maybe. But that's like cliff diving with a parachute that got packed by a known crackhead.

Well..in that scenario, Gerald Green would be the starter and swing guard. Ennis and Granger would have to split about 20 minutes off the bench.

That's the sentiment I've had all year and why I would be in favor of tanking. I am for this trade though because I do think it fits long term. I think Thomas fixes the hole at PG for now and is a nice player off the bench going forward. He's only going to be making about $6.5M in 2016 and 2017. If you can dump McBob's contract by 2016, you should still be able to get a max player, no?

Like Section said, Green would be your starting 3. There would be a dropoff there, but Deng's PER is 16.75 compared to Gerald Green's 15.84. Isaiah Thomas has a 19.69. If you buy into these advanced metrics, you are getting the most efficient player in the deal and not even losing THAT much from Deng to Green. Plus you are adding some much needed (IMO) athleticism and replacing a guy who's had some injury struggles with a guy who's played 7 more games this year.

So Gerald Green is a 3?

Does he play defense, at all?

We'd be losing a lot in rebounds, no? Or are we suddenly thinking that the Heat are awash in rebounding ability due to Whiteside?

Presuming the union holds firm on rejecting "cap smoothing" the cap in 2016 is going to be around $90 million. Could be a bit more or less but $90 is a good round number.

After this proposed deal the Heat would have the following approximate committed salaries:

    Bosh: $24 million
    McBob: $6 million
    Napier: $1.5 million
    Ennis: $1 million
Tyler Johnson RFA tender of about $1 million
    Thomas: $7 million

That's only $40 million plus the cap holds. I'm also assuming we waive everybody else not named Wade or Hassanity. Even if you presume a Whiteside max at $20 million, you'd still have enough for another max. And this is also assuming you actually keep McBob, Napier, etc.

In 2010 we managed to dump all our dead weight. Might cost you a 2nd round pick, but for valuable guys on reasonable contracts it shouldn't be hard. I make the deal.

Strictly going by the Hollinger PER formula, we gain 7 wins due to this trade, presuming the ESPN trade machine is correct.

Our reb. rate would not suffer at all really.

Gerald Green can score, but as far as a def. player, he will be asked to do far different things that Deng could do.

The Dolphins burned the phone for some big names that would have this forum creaming themselves 2 years ago, and then again this past deadline. The NBA is worse. NBA GM's love talking trade.

If you think my Fins info is pretty good, my Heat info is 2x as good.

In the NBA, damn near every team talks to everybody for every NBA Trade Machine wet dream and nothing usually comes of it.

So I would hold off on any parades down Biscayne Boulevard for the time being. I would put the possibility of that trade at 10% because SOMEBODY ALWAYS gets cold feet. My GUESS is that Isaiah Thomas' contract is a deal killer. IMO.

Sadly there is no NBA/Heat forum within the Club

I would really hope Thomas's contract would not prevent this deal. He's making a pretty low salary for a player of his caliber. He's the 11th ranked PG in PER, just behind Bledsoe who's making more than double what he is.

I think the Deng for Thomas/Green thing has a chance.

It's a rare trade that actually does help both teams.

Ethan making some good points about Thomas:
I already thought Thomas's deal was pretty good, but when you think about the kinds of massive deals that will be given out in 2016, it may look pretty ridiculous even if he's just a good bench player.

He is a second tier Starting PG. He is much better than that. I am not sure how he will work in the Heat's system though. he will have plenty of a green light.

In games where he gets hot...the Heat will look championship good. In games where he is not....well....you know the result.

Oh, I agree. I would be very comfortable with him as our starting PG moving forward. I was just saying, say we go out and sign a Mike Conley and at worst Thomas becomes a 6th man, that's still probably going to look like a steal come 16-17.

Dragic's reps advised Suns today he will it re-sign and wants to be traded by the deadline

7-8 teams have shown serious interest

The Dragic developments throws a monkey wrench into any Phoenix plans to trade Isiah Thomas and Gerald Green. Part of the reason they were trading Thomas/green was to make room for Dragic this summer and to appease him.
