Anyone need a decent starting RT?
Gosder Cherilus can be had for a 7th in my quest this year to reach 100 million in cap space.

    How 'bout a starting LB?
DQwell Jackson can be had for free.

    Need a pass rusher?
Robert Mathis, sack leader of 2013, can be had for free as well.

First to hit me up gets the cookie.

I know I inherited a pretty crappy roster but it did have a few bright spots, one of which being OLB/DE Jonathan Newsome who finished 2nd in rookie sacks with 6.5 [more than Khalil Mack & Anthony Barr] and was one of 17 AFC players to win NFL Defensive Player of the Week. PFF ranked him their 17th best defensive rookie which places him as a borderline 1st rounder in a re-draft.

Mel Kiper's take on Newsome in his re-draft grade of Indy:
Flabbergasted that none of you guys are on the ball this year, especially where pass rushers are concerned, cheap ones at that. Not one of you nutsacks [minus Michelle] have PM'd me about him.

I like Newsome, good value there for someone...Just not a fit for my 4-3 scheme.

For the record, not sure I'd call the Colts' roster crappy. More middle tier, meaning there are about 15 more rosters out there that are crappier.

As the current GM of the Colts, I can tell you its roster is fairly crappy as far as GM League goes. I know what interest I've gotten in its players, as well as the 12 contracts of $2.5+ million [$56 million in total] that I netted a whopping 4th round pick from in its entirety.

I would argue that the Colts roster away from the GML aside from Luck is actually worse then the Bucs in real life. Without Luck, the Colts are literally the Bucs with fewer receivers and a worse running game (if thats even possible). They have, imo, the worst roster in the league. Theres Luck, 5-7 real good players and a bunch of backup types.
    Bottom 3 roster, easily imo.

I don't mean to be a smart alec by any means, but how did a bottom 3 roster reach the conference championship? I'm not a Colts fan, but bottom 3 seems like a bit much

Todd certainly has a better grasp of the market value that's out there than I would. And this league is all about perception, for better or worse. And I agree that a flawed roster was masked tremendously by Luck. But the D was graded better than about dozen other units And featured the top CB in the NFL. Not saying the Colts in real life are great by any means outside of Luck and Davis...but I don't think they're terrible.

For the record, I would've taken the Colts if I was picking up there, too. Some nice cheap pieces - including a frfranchise qb - and a ton of cap to work with. Todd is doing a nice job there, playing it exactly the right way by making room and obtaining assets.

sheit, if I decide to keep Arthur Jones [one of the few solid pieces on this team] & Robert Mathis, and if I give away Gosder Cherilus & DQwell Jackson, I'll have burned through just about alllll of my available roster [roughly $85 million worth], and all I have in trade to show for it is an extra 1st rounder, two extra 4ths, an extra 7th, and Marquess Wilson whom I'm apparently much higher on than everyone else. I have a lot of cap space but I don't know if it'll be enough to cover 2 starting safeties, 3 starting corners, 2 starting ILBs, 2 starting D-line, 2 starting tackles, a starting RG, a starting WR, a starting RB, a backup RB, a #2 TE, and necessary depth, especially with the way top FAs in GM League frequently go for more than in the real world.

    3 ways...
    1. They played the Bengals in the playoffs. That's an automatic win cause Dalton sucks and the better qb usually wins playoff games provided the rest of the team doesn't play like complete dog poop.
    2. They then beat Peyton Manning who by that point had half an arm left or something seriously wrong because he sure as heck wasn't playing like the Peyton Manning we've watched for the last 15+ years.
    3. Their second best asset is their coach and Andrew Luck is a freaking gangster. 2nd best qb in the league after Rodgers. Even he can't make up for the rest of that trash

By having a lot of overpaid players who are good as a collective in the real world but are worth little in a 1 year GM League.... plus what Kingdom & Boik said.

To be clear my criticism of the colts roster is not of Todd. He knows this and I told him during trade discussions. Yes they have an elite CB. Like I said they're carried by Luck and 5-7 really strong players and good coaching. The rest of that roster is a hot mess. Their D is where all their talent is aside from Luck and Hilton. Their TEs lead the league in drops isn't drop %. Their best wr, moncrief, wasn't ready to play much last year. Hilton is Mike Wallace with a better catch radius but more drops. That OL...next question. The DL is solid with run stuffers and Arthur jones but not much push towards the qb. Robert Mathis is 107 years old. There's some talent on the back 7.

jesus... I don't even remember the cafeteria... wait... thinking... yeah I do... I never ate there... I did however frequent the book store to... buy.... books... the book store was on the left... the cafeteria was on the right... same building... when I went there... I'm sure it's changed... I haven't been back since I graduated really. It's a really good CC though. I mean for these lower level... GED.. or whatever you guys call it now, it's fine. And it's close for you... better than Pierce. Better than anything in Camarillo/Oxnard/Ventura/Channel Islands.

oh my... wonder if any of the same teachers are there... the memorable ones... Mr. Herman... economics teacher.. holy **** was he an *******... if you were 1 minute late to class and you walked in front of him when he was talking... holy ****... meltdown mode. you may as well just walk back out of the room... ****ing Econ class... i hated econ!!

History teacher... Mr. Baker... I'm sure he's not there anymore... but we called him Baker the A Maker. You didn't even have to go to class.. just spend money on his field trips that he put together and you'd get at least a B. He was cool... no not that kind of field trip.. sick ****s.. we actually went to Medieval Times... the space center out in Edwards/Mojave desert. Always on Saturday... and we'd watch his favorite comedy movies on the bus trip out there...

Then there was Mr. Brown... the Anthropology teacher...dude was definitely a hippy... I'd doubt he's still there. walked into class with sandals and long hair. The girls liked him for some reason... never understood why

ah... college... those were the days man... enjoy it.. all of you ****s that are going or on your way... best times of your lives right there...

Of course, I didn't think you were being critical of Todd and didn't mean to imply that, sorry. My point is just that the roster -- while not great -- is in better shape than about 10-12 other team. sure they're aided by Luck, but you could make a similar argument for other teams with top QBs, although maybe not to the same extent.

I guess my point is that the Colts were easily my top choice before the draft order was decided. I think there are some challenges, but plenty to work with. And tons of cap. That's a factor too when determining the value of a roster. my guess wouls be that typically a team with more cap space has more holes and less assets to work with.
