Each team is allowed to designate two free agents (whether it be UFA, RFA, or ERFA) they may attempt to re-sign. Teams may make an initial offer that is no lower than $510,000; there is no limit to how much a team can initially offer their free agent. You must be salary cap compliant by the deadline or else your offers will be void.

Once the deadline passes (March 1, 10:00PM ET) to designate their players they'd like to re-sign, those players will enter a free agency pool on March 2 at 12:15AM ET where all teams may bid in the normal GML format. Once a player receives a competing offer (bid), he must go 24 hours without receiving a new offer (bid) before signing with his new team. Minimum bid increments are listed in the rules.

When the clock hits 10:00PM ET on March 7, any player that has not yet been bid on must be offered a minimum of $1,000,000. This is to prevent people from bidding the minimum amount right before the deadline solely to ensure teams won't be able to re-sign players.

The re-sign process officially ends on March 8 at 10:00PM ET. If a player has not received any competing offers, he will re-sign with his original team at this point. If a player has an offer from another team attached to him but hasn't passed through the full 24 hour process yet, he will enter unrestricted free agency with the same offer. However he will have to go through a full 24 hours during unrestricted free agency (the clock resets) before he signs.

    Examples:
New England offers James Morris a $510,000 contract to re-sign with the team. The deadline passes on March 8 at 10:00PM ET and Morris has not received any offers... he officially will re-sign with the Patriots at $510,000.

New England offers Brian Tyms a $510,000 contract to re-sign with the team. The Dolphins offer him a $750,000 contract on March 3 at 8:00PM ET. 24 hours pass and Tyms has not received an additional offer, he officially signs with the Dolphins at $750,000.

New England offers James Morris a $510,000 contract to re-sign with the team. The Titans offer Morris a $1,000,000 contract on March 8 at 9:30PM ET. Morris enters unrestricted free agency with a $1,000,000 bid attached to him from the Titans and his time stamp would list the bid at March 9, 12:15AM ET (when unrestricted free agency starts).

Just want to clarify something you said:

Once a player receives a competing offer (bid), he must go 24 hours without receiving a new offer (bid).

I think you meant to add this: he must go 24 hours without receiving a new offer to sign with the competing team Surely we don't have to wait 24 hours to bid on him again... :wink2:

Just here to help mang...

How many offers can each team make for an opposing teams players? 1? 2? Unlimited?

The Dallas Cowboys would like to re-sign the following and will send Michael Irvin with scissors to your house if you bid:
DeMarco Murray $1 million (Go to town folks!)
Rolando McClain $8.75 million (insuring compensation level minimum...bid away and BID HIGH!)

24(hour)/7(bid) rule will be in effect for everything once cut free agency starts.

I prefer they just ask questions here if they are referring to the re-sign portion. I can filter out everything.

sorry, this is confusing me. I put 510k on both Williams and Kelly. Can someone offer 610k on either one of them today? Or do they have to wait until March 1st or 2nd or whenever it is?

So if every team posts two players, someone in theory could offer 64 bids on those players? Seems a bit odd but rules are rules as they say.

EDIT: NVM Im stupid. It didnt work this way last season, it was a silent bid by opposing teams to the commish. That is what I thought this was. Read to too fast. Obviously 7 is sort of the limit.

You're allowed a maximum of 7 simultaneous bids during cut free agency and re-sign process/unrestricted free agency.

I was thinking it worked like last year for some reason where the bids were silent and no-one knew how many they won/lost on. In that case you could make a million bids and only win two...it made sense in my head damn it. I already admitted Im an idiot
