Damn. I don't mind the cuts - its just putting us in a weird spot come draft time unless we do get some one else in FA.

Gibson, Hartline were obvious. Wallace will be the mini shock of the group.

Jarvis Landry will catch 100 balls this year, pick him up on your fantasy teams.

Who will speak on behalf of Mike Wallace now?

Any good free agents with a media relations degree?

Saves 3.26M against the cap right away, seemed like an obvious cut. Given this (and injury) is what I will remember him for in Miami.

Not surprised. Totally rebuilding the unit. Let's hope it goes better than the linebacker unit.

I think it will, because unlike that LB unit, we'll build through the draft and won't pick up overpriced FA's (hopefully).

Boy, I hope so. You'd think if they release Wallace, they'd had to dabble in FA at some point. I wouldn't be opposed to them signing an FA stud, drafting a receiver high and putting a bow on it for the next 5 years to be honest. It's a group that's been way too in-flux the past couple seasons.

This year might turn out to be a real surprise. I'm really hoping for some draft magic and avoidance of FA splurges. I don't care about the win-now nonsense. I just want to see good, wise moves leading to 'win consistently'.

Only if you get points for receptions because he might only gain 700 yards doing so.

I think with the way Tannenbaum is talking about this 3 year plan, they might just target a mid-priced veteran FA to provide veteran leadership and compete for the 2nd spot, and then double down on WR in the draft, taking two in the first few rounds.

I understand it. But I was hoping Brandon (and Mathews) would get a bigger opportunity this year. He's a big tough receiver.

New Offensive Strategy - Ditch all the WR's except Wallace (9 route decoy), Landry (short ball escape valve) and Matthews (new return guy) - and focus completely on the OL and run game. Ground and pound Dolphins. :D

If things are looking as it is now, Miami is going into the next season with Hazel, Landry and Matthews returning.

Yeah, it's looking like there really is a plan. In some sense that's refreshing because I didn't always feel like they had one in past offseasons.

Two of the top four WR's on the roster have been cut. They want to trade or possibly cut the best WR on the roster and their #5 WR from last year no longer wants to have anything to do with this team anymore.

Right now, especially if Wallace isn't on the roster next year, this teams receiving corp may just end up being worse than the WR's the team has in Tannehill's rookie season.

I guess Philbin is already looking at using a below average group of WR's as his excuse for another mediocre or worse season in 2015.

It's a good thing Tannehill has experience at WR. Because at the rate the Dolphins are getting rid of his weapons, he might have to throw the ball to himself next year.

I liked Gibson and Hartline, but this opens up the door for guys like Matthews and Hazel and maybe a guy we draft.

These cuts are all about scheme fits. Check out the YAC of our receivers last year. Landry is our only receiver with respectable YAC. I think we'll go after Cobb.

Ross already did that when he decided to bring Philbin back for next year.

I guess Tannebaum is just starting to clear out the players who have contributed to mediocrity in recent years and is setting it up for the next head coach to have young players and cap space available, so the rebuilding process won't take another decade.

Right now some of the veteran players are being shown the door because of their failure to help provide a playoff team. After this coming season, it will be Philbin and the coaching staff who will be exiting the facility one last time.

Maybe we cut all our wrs, therefore making Tannehill have a bad year, thus making him cheaper to resign.
