    Hes gonna hit the market...

would you make that run and who would you cut to do it?

I wonder if their waiting on signing odrick to see if he wants to be here.

how would it make you feel of the team going into the year with that beast owning the middle of the field..?

one way to beat brady..collaspsing the pocket up the middle, if that dude wants to play 5 more years, then this might be the way to go.

Of course, but if we sign him let Odrick walk, he ain't THAT much better than Earl Mitchell, get another DT in the draft, we could get an Eddie Goldman in the 2nd or even Carl Davis in the 3rd

Ellerbe, Wheeler (Jun 1), Starks, and Shelley Smith, that's 13.3 mil saved, 16 mil if you designate Ellerbe a Jun 1 cut too.

I agree LB..cut everyone, and find him a young player with hi upside in the draft like goldman to make up the talent loss and where you don't have to drop a first round contract on..

Exactly, you gotta think having Suh here would raise Earl Mitchell's game as well, along with Wake and Vernon.

As much as I would love to see them sign Suh, I just don't see it as a possibility. He is going to be looking to be paid more than $15 million a year at least and the Dolphins just don't have that type of money to spend on one player. Especially when they have so many needs on the team at this time.

I believe the best place for Suh would be with the Colts. They have the cap space to sign him and with him on their DL, they would probably be the favorite in the AFC next year and for the next several years.

That saves 13-16 million, 7 of which goes to Clay for his 1 yr deal. Subtract the cost of replacing the guys you listed, say 3-5 million total if we sign scrubs, leaving maybe 3-4 million, half of which will be needed for draft picks.

    Who else you gonna cut?

We already have enough money for everything you listed without including the guys LBsFinest did. Not that I think signing Suh is a good idea.

Yup I'd do whatever I can to land him as long as he comes a shade cheaper than JJ Watt. Probably the best DT in the game. This kind of player does not hit the open market too often. Elite!

Okay I fooled around a bit at overthecap, after Clay's tag we currently have 9.5 mil in cap space, you cut Shelly Smith and Starks, Ellerbe and Wheeler for Jun 1, that gives us approx $26.9 mil. But 11.4 mil of that wouldn't become available until Jun 1st, so we'd have about 15.5 mil for free agency, then another 11.4 mil clears in June which is more than enough to sign all our draft picks.

if we just cut Ellerbe outright we'll have 21.1 mil for the immediate free agency period. And obviously we can sign Pounce and Clay to long term deals to lower those $7 million cap numbers and free up a little more space.

I dont have a problem with it..That defense with all three healthy didn't do anything of substance, and none of them require a double team..

lets look at this from a team perspective...He is immediately the leader of the team..he's the most dominant at the position..He matches up well with the pats..no injury history..

I have a feeling, just a hunch, he's not gonna ask for more than JJ watt, maybe a lil but not as much as some are saying.

Went to fanspeak's free agency simulator fanspeak.com/mtc/ ...restructuring Wallace and Albert's contracts free up another 12 mil. 33 mil for FA, now we're talking.

All good points. I'm just philosophically opposed to giving that kind of $$$ to an interior lineman, especially a guy from another team. You assume he'd be the leader but he could also be the new guy no one likes bc their buddies were cut to make room for him, you just never know. It's a high risk high reward type of move, makes me a little queasy ;)

Agree with a lot of the points in regards to $$$$ spent on the interior line especially with some significant money being spent.

With that said there are TWO DL who I'd spend that type of money on because they are worth it is Watt and Suh. He would change the direction of the defense and attitude within the team and it would be infectious. With Suh in fold, you can let Odrick walk, and cut Starks. From there it might be a gamble to just have Johnson/Francis as backups but you could add cheaper Vet or Draft mid rounder. Either way Suh on inside with Wake/Vernon on outside collapsing the pocket Brady would not sleep for months guaranteed.

But I'll pump the brakes cause Philbin can't handle personalities that is proven, how could he handle who most consider the dirtiest person in the NFL? Maybe Suh could scare him out fo town lol

Bump Philbin. If he can't handle the strong personalities of upper tier players he needs to go back to being an assistant.

I just try and put myself in his shoes, to me it's about playing where I'm most comfortable and where my myself and family is gonna be happy, if the coach get replaced next year I'm still confident that my game is going to cross over into any coaches philosophy..so as long as the contract is right, and I'm protected like I would be for any team, even teams that would have stability at the coaches position, it's all good...

There are lot of examples of great players going thru coaching changes..

If it comes down to money t him and that's how he's motivated then cool, if he wants to ride coat tails then so be it, if it just takes financial security and be a part of making your own mark then Miami would be perfect for him..

It's not easy to play in this town, it can turn players into slobs, the stadium makes it Imperative that you are intrinsically motivated to play 100 percent to the whistle..we need players who play with an angry demeanor.

Hard to scout how a guy will react to getting 100 million, no? Serious question, how good would Suh have to be to make giving him 13-15 million per worth the cost?

If you are going to pay for a QB and a player like Suh your scouting staff better be above average when it comes to the draft b/c those boys are going to have to play.

Yup, real hard, no doubt about it..

How good would he have to be.?.. I would just say if I knew he was passionate, angry and will play 100 percent, whatever that level is I'm good.

Don't ignore the contribution DeAndre Coleman can make as a run stuffer. He has always been stout against the run and could probably do well as a rotational guy playing limited snaps, and hecomes almost free.

A.J. Francis may be ready for prime time as well.

I like Xavier Williams DT with our 5th round pick.

Behemoth NT Kendrick Ellis could be a cheap addition and he may be ready to breakout.

Dolphins could easily drop Starks and Mitchell. PFF had them ranked 42nd and 36th in the league last year.

Mitchell may even be tradeable. Give the Chargers a call and offer them their hometown guy Rishard Matthews as well.
