That's pretty silly WADR. There's a salary cap to be conscious of, and you never know what bidding length another GM is willing to go or when they're willing to bow out. This year GIK increased the minimum bid to such a degree that an increase by the minimum amount is more than adequate, so stop whining and take a Valium. If people are continuing to bid after you've done so, then obviously you yourself are also being too friggen cheap, so nut up yourself if you want it to be one-bid-and-done.

Not to mention, when your own bid increments are so high, you're essentially putting the other GMs in a situation to employ the minimum bid to balance out your jacked up bids.

I should have made different minimum increments for teams with 100M in cap space though...

Just to throw in my opinion, that no one asked for. If we want the game to be more realistic - I think there needs to be a requirement for a minimum salary carried by each team going into free agency. I also think there needs to be a requirement for a minimum number of guys on a roster going into free agency. I cant honestly say i have ever seen a team sell off 35 of their active players in one single off season. Their fans would have a mutiny and the NFL would have a tough time explaining that.

If Paul would be game, I can run a simulation style league with full dead money hits to make it ultra realistic... then he can run one arcade style with no dead money.

I think minimum salaries should reflect the inflation of salary caps along with bids, which means $750,000 should be the starting point with salaries $135,000 being the minimum raise.

while i like the fantasy aspects of this league - i think making it truer to life only enhances the strategy people would have to use. Which in turn makes it more challenging and more fun. JMO

It's a little difficult balancing that out, without taking away from what most of the GMs do like constant trades. Otherwise most GMs will lose interest quick, especially when the amount of trading goes down to my level of trading. Everyone has a different strategy to this, and taking away how many players someone can cut is akin to the number of trades one can make. Besides it's not the first time that a GM has cut the number of players/salary down to that level.

Also to any GM (not you FFG) complaining about high prices, you should worry more about cap % hits because that tells a better story of where player prices are in line, right now we have the highest cap number to work with, especially with a low minimum player costs compared to five years ago.

    2010 ($58 Million) - 2011 ($75 Million) - 2012 ($85 Million) - 2013 ($124 Million) - 2014 ($130 Million) - 2015 ($150 Million)

*If all players were equal and paid the same amount for a roster of 53 players --- similar to the XFL Pay scale.
    (2010) $1,094,339 -- (2011) $1,415,094 -- (2012) $1,603,773 -- (2013) $2,339,622 -- (2014) 2,452,830 -- (2015) $2,830,188

    * Minimum Player Salary and Salary Cap %
    (2010) $300,000 [0.5%] -- (2011) $300,000 [0.4%] -- (2012) $300,000 [0.35%] -- (2013) $405,000 [0.3%] -- (2014) $495,000 [0.38%] -- (2015) $510,000 [0.34%]

I do too, I like the cerebral nature of it, but as schisno says, it's a balancing act. If we made it like real life, in which the first trade results in all dead money going to the original team, it'd curb a lot of things, but activity too. On the flip side the 2nd team could then do whatever with no fear of dead money, which would bring an interesting dynamic, but trading would plummet.

As far as being cheap, speaking as someone who has the third most cap space, I will tell you that I'm absolutely being cheap. If by cheap you mean having a set amount you'll pay for a guy and not go over that amount.

I'm not going to win the league, I was never going to win the league, so in my return I just wanted to try and build something that I was proud of and that would have some feasibility of happening in real life.

So I don't care if I end up with a bunch of $510k guys and 35 million in cap space at the end of this, I'm going by my numbers. Which is not to knock anyone and how they are bidding.

Just you know I wasn't nor will I complain about prices. I'm paying 13.5 mill for demarco and in ok with that. I fully expected some player to take up a large percentage of my cap. I don't mind the prices. However, what I am saying is that if we have a minimum salary requirement and roster requirement it would level the playing field a bit more. I fully expected Todd to come in like Oprah....you get 15 million, you get 15 million...you get 15 million. So I was afforded the opportunity to bid the prices up. If he didn't have like 80 mill in space, I totally wouldn't have taken the chance. If we all have to be say around the 50 mill mark it levels the prices if free agents out too.
That being said, I did pick the team with the highest cap space knowing that would be somewhat of an advantage in both trading and free agency.

Edit: I see you weren't saying I was complaining.

I'm all for full dead cap hits (but also for getting rid of cap hits for players that simply never had them..*coughTAGGEDPLAYERS cough*....just got to find options for those teams that start off most cap hit/have a crapload of UFA's/RFA's to actually make moves.

I would be down for a realistic dead cap hit on every move league, but only if it was in addition to this league.

I look forward to this league every year so that I can build my own team, fantasy style, getting all the players I like and not being restricted to the real rosters. My favorite part is talking and making constant trades for a few months and if we went to a realistic league, we would lose a lot of activity.
