Report: 49ers offering LB Michael Wilhoite in trade "...the 28-year-old Wilhoite was a 16-game starter for San Francisco in 2014, notching 87 tackles, six passes defended and two picks." "The club seeks a sixth- or seventh-round pick" They have an embarrassment of riches at LB so this guy is no scrub. Yes, he's 28 but will we be able to find a LB in this draft in the 6th or 7th as good as Wilhoite? I would strike this deal with a quickness. When Willis was out, Wilhoite called the defensive signals. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/03/04/report-49ers-offering-lb-michael-wilhoite-in-trade/
profootballtalk's comment sec: xnihilofan says: Mar 4, 2015 5:38 PM Wilhoitte is a solid LB and filled in very well last year. Any LB depleted team would be getting a solid dude. ______________ ninerfan94954 says: Mar 4, 2015 7:37 PM This guy is a real solid pro, if this is true I will be sorry to see him go… stepped up big-time during last year’s mess. Leaves it on the field every Sunday. ______________ coachwolf49 says: Mar 4, 2015 7:44 PM Sorry to see him go. Solid LB with a great work ethic. Somebody will get him for a steal… ______________ niners816 says: Mar 4, 2015 5:44 PM He’s good! It’s just that Borland outplayed him a.d Willis and Bowman will be back. Some team is getting a great value trade for a 6th or 7th round pick.
It's a joke that this made national news. He's not an upgrade on Jason Trusnik, much less any starter spot.
I would rather see Jenkins,McCain, and Tripp get the snaps. I wouldn't mind if they relented and moved Jordan to OLB either.
Tom Brady was a 6th round pick and Donald Driver a 7th round pick. But how often does that happen? Most of the time a 6th or 7th round pick has a career for 3-4 years tops.

I get if you don't wanna trade a pick for him as I agree with you but he would def be an upgrade to Trusnik, may even be an upgrade to Misi.
I've watched all the defensive snaps in a couple of 49ers games this year? He's not an upgrade over any of our starting linebackers. He's not even the best back-up 49ers linebacker available this off-season, I'd rather they sign Dan Skuta.
I think if San Francisco wanted to get the best deal possible over a very crowded Linebacker room then they should trade Patrick Willis to us.
So you watched all the defensive snaps for 49ers and the Fins and can't see with your eyes Wilhoite > Trusnik and then the stats back it up?
He would probably be an upgrade over the backup LB's the Dolphins have at this time. Yet the mere fact the 49er's are looking to trade him for a 6th or 7th round pick tells me he probably isn't someone who will likely come in an become a starter, even though the Dolphins have a BIG need at the LB position. As a veteran backup and someone who should be able to step in if a starter goes down, I would have no problem with the Dolphins trading their 6th or 7th round pick for him.
