Atfer I had a stint put in a couple of years ago I keep asking myself will Miami ever get back into the playoffs and I cant really help but to say , I hop so but I hope it happens soon. Realistic I think it will take another head coach to make it happen . I figure the Patriots , jets and Bills can make the playoff but Miami has the capability to make it to the first rd but many things have to go right for it to happen.

What I want to know is how much patience do you really have with MR. Ross ? players and coaches use Miami in a bad way so the talent isn't on the roster or last no one really stands out at least not on offense ,so how many more years before we get some big names either through the draft or through f/a before we can say we are playoff ready ?

I know for me time is running out so I feel the pressure to win something whether or not it is 10 wins and a first round exit .

what will the expectations for this next season and how patient you will be before you are ready to boycott games and all ? to me 10 wins is a must or it is a ho hum year.

tell me what constitutes a ood to great season.

    Aqua,

Really what choice do we actually have ?? We are seemingly stuck in mediocrity with Philbin, Ross continues to swing and miss...BADLY for a big acquisition (P. Manning, Harbaugh, 4 candidates for Gm before settling for Hickey, etc)... I like the Tannenbaum addition, I like Lazor, but pretty much the rest of the staff suks... Why is Coyle still here?? What power does Philbo have anymore... It's really too soon to really tell about Hickey, but he was clearly not a first or second choice a year ago... There is a ton of stuff to be negative about but waiting it out is all we, as fans, can really do...either that or change allegiances which is hard for most of us to even think about...

I've been back-and-forth with them, but, I'm pretty patient with Ross and Philbin. I really did not like Ross at first and I'm still skeptical of him. Philbin, I believe, is a good man and a good coach. He hasn't exactly wowed me, or anything, but I think he takes a lot more heat than he deserves. They're both learning.

However, I am getting less and less patient with fans who consider themselves football experts.

winning a playoff game is the only thing that makes it a good season IMO. Just being there and ****ting the bed like we did against the Ravens is not good enough.

unless we get Suh and a significant player at linebacker and guard, i think we should expect six wins as it would obvious be a rebuilding season.

I think you need to define patient...like..will we stop watching if they don't win? Or how patient before I want a regime change?

Honestly I almost tried to change my team allegiance one year (this is embarrassing to admit for me.) It was during the offseason and it didn't even last 2 games into the regular season. I felt gross, disgusted with myself. Like I had been cheating on my wife or something. This will never happen again. As much as the Dolphins piss me off they are my team for better or worse til the day I die.

Hmmmm .... patient in thinking/believing we've turned the corner and headed straight up? Not at all.

Patient in hoping and cheering and anxious for another season? Of course.

Frustrated is probably the best one word answer . Some positives but yet again not enough to ultimately matter and likely another regime change shortly .

I have said for many many years , one step forward , one back and one sideways .... still the same MO imo .

    Back in Miami
I'll always be a Dolphins fan but I have almost become completely disengaged at this point.
Losses don't even phase me and I enjoy the wins but don't get overly excited about them because I know in the end the team just isn't that good.

It's not about being "bandwagon" either.
I hung on through many a losing season.
It's the consistency of what seems to be ineptness from the top and not seeing a bright light at the end of the dark tunnel anymore.
Not that it changes the fact that I am a fan of the Phins because it dosen't. It just makes me not care any more sadly.

will always be patient with the miami dolphins..when it comes to GM's and coaches, thats a different story, I try to give each regime change a three year observation period, weigh the results and the curve, and make decisions.

You know, pushing 50, I guess I have no choice to be patient. Here's the thing, my friends are Broncos and Pats fans mostly. So look at what I have to endure. Ugh. I just hope we win a superbowl before I die.

50 is a great age to be a Dolphin fan. Early Childhood were Super Bowls. Some lean Seasons after that, still young enough just to love the team no matter what. At the age where Football seasons meant a lot more and we knew more about the game...Dan came and gave us great moments and excitement for 17 years. Solid JJ teams....Wanny's talented rosters to not winning a playoff game in 14 yrs. Patience? Where am I going?

Just hit 30 a while back so I wasn't around for the 70s or early 80s success. To me contention is about hard work, patience and yeah luck. Ross is def on the right track w the stadium upgrades bc for all the scapegoats we've had the last 20 years the Dolphins, well lead or not, haven't done jack ish since they left the Orange Bowl.

i cant root for another team because if I change teams and then this teams wins then I will hate myself more for that then I would if I was plain frustrated.

the only thing I have to hold on to is we have had some great players like Zach , Madison and Dan , and who can forget Louis Oliver and Trace Armstrong ? if it were not for the 2000 to 2003 years I don't know how I would really feel, because those years seem good compared to the last 5 years. I guess that is why I hang onto some of our players longer then other fans .

I suppose it depends on what patient means. I've been a Fins fan since I was a kid after the 84' Super Bowl. I've been diehard since I was 13 in the 90' playoffs. And I'll be a Dolphins fan for every day of the rest of my life. I'll watch every play of every game that I'm able to. The team is my religion and my patriotism rolled into one.

However, am I patient with individuals involved in the team? No. The last coach I was patient with was Jimmy. I've been either luke warm or flat out cold on every coach since he was hired, and haven't warmed up to one since about midway through Wanny's third year (after which he blew it and it went back cold). I want Ross to sell the team. I want Philbin fired. How I feel about Hickey will likely change a lot over the next few weeks, as right now I'm 50/50 on him.

But the good thing about the NFL is that, other than owners, what's the worst that can happen? Everyone gets fired and we start over? Then we can get optomistic that the next guy will be better. Since the Fins last appeared in the big game, no team that I'm a fan of in any sport has ever appeared in a championship game or series. Sports is about patience as much as anything. It will make the good times feel all that much better when they get here.

Welcome Undisputed...glad to have you here... Well, I'm pushing 60 and feel the same way. I was even a TC ball boy in '69... That said, I grew up in NJ and was an Eagle fan for a while, but when we moved to Miami in 67, that was it... Funny tho, if there is a game on and it's not the Fins, I'll look for the Eagles even tho I really don't follow them much at all... But I'll always be a Fin fan, even tho we have an owner that can't seem to get things right yet...
