Society as a whole though frowns upon it because they know nothing about it or because it's different from them. Like it or not, being different is frowned upon by many.
Society as a whole? You need to look around a bit. From religioustolerance.com: Apparently, the whole of society isn't frowning upon anything. And those numbers are understated. Alot of Wiccans don't identiy themselves, preferring to keep their faith close to the vest....as we wish ALL religions would do.
WHARFRAT SIGHTING!!!! Btw: I agree completely. Not so much in the sense of subscribe too, but to laugh at something you don't understand To the original poster, carefull about painting such a very broad stroke. It would be just as intelligent to state that you dont like Wiccans "Because all they ever do is post hot wimmins on football websites." No insight there, just a broad statement passing judgement on the essence of what is not truth, but percieved to be true
Bro... BIG HUGE difference between laughing at someone doing something stupid... and laughing at a religion. If your laughing at some bone-head stabbing themselves .. fine... If your laughing at Wiccans because they are Wiccan ... then that's just lame. The post I contested stated that people laugh at Wiccans (implying they laugh at the religion) NOT that they are laughing at some "happening". See the difference?
don't watch loud at work..... no nudity but weird language. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqXi8WmQ_WM
Wow! No one has taken the "obvious, religious zealot" angle. Streak of good luck requires payment from the "gods." Therefore, you are required to stab yourself in the foot and be humilated in front of the world community on the internet in order to restore your good fortune. Say 3 hummity hummas, take an aspirin, and call me in the morning.
No offense, but where I grew up and live, the society here will look down upon it. Maybe it's different where you live because Iowa and New York are both extremely different in ways of living.
No offense, then maybe you shouldn't make such a ridiculous statement as "society as a whole frowns upons it." Maybe you should say, "the ignorant people where I live frown upon it" instead.
