Said pretty much the same a few pages back. We'll worry about the money later if it looks like it might backfire. For now, we should focus on the fact the team just got a disruptive monster of a DT in his prime. Team got a heck of a lot better.
I wonder what effect the Bills getting McCoy had on the Dolphins pursuit of Suh. And what I mean is it was clear weeks ago their Plan A was getting Suh and if not there was a Plan B. But did the McCoy going to Buffalo have the Dolphins change their plans just to Plan A all the way, go all in no matter the cost?
This news inspired me to make this today.
No matter how good Suh is, we need help at LB and CB. He can't cover and tackle everything as well. He will help, but not much if the rest of unit is trash. And, right now outside of Jenkins and Misi we have backups at best, and Trusnik is pretty much the only one I'd call relevant as a backup at this stage. That's a major issue. Major. To the point of being criminal.
Like either one of these reporters are going to address what they wrote. Pipe dreams and picking up the pieces? Don't you wish that reporters that cover the team actually like the team or their fans?
Wheres the guy that wanted to bet avi rights on Suh not signing with Miami? Lucky I didnt take that bet or you would have a Wisconsin avitar. Lol Once again, my sources were correct.... I guess yours let you down.(the source that told you we had "no chance" of signing Suh and you heavily criticized me for saying we did have a chance and it now looks like he is signing with us)
Ok. Wow. For the last coupe of weeks, I haven't had time to check in here. I've been working and playing a lot. This is the first time and HOLY POOP! I love when that happens. So, we got Suh, huh? You guys and gals f'ing rock!!!
Not only got better, the physical presence and identity changed. I am soo looking forward to watching him play every week. What a great day to be a dolphin fan.
Huge win for Miami. This makes us better no doubt. This is not overspending on Mike Wallace, its getting the premer player at his position in the league for the prime of his career. Anything other than a massive celebration is overthinking the situation. We will continue to plug our other holes through the draft and lesser free agents and combined with Suh we will be better for it. :highfive:
I'm happy about the signing, it fills a need, I'm just saying that you need a lot more and I don't get excited about free agency. I'll celebrate if the Dolphins finally win a playoff game for the first time since Y2K was in style. The Lions had a losing record during all of their years with Suh combined. The Texans are 33-31 (I think) with the absolute best in JJ Watt. Miami has a ways to go before they catch the Patriots (who mauled the Lions in Detroit this year). But I am excited to see the defensive front. This should help them not disappear against the run again.
We have a better team overall then the Lions & Texans. I know that's not a popular sentiment, but IMO, if we had Suh last year we'd have been the playoffs. If we had Suh, Albert & Delmas for the whole year we'd have been in the AFCCG.
If anyone ever wants to know where my anger comes from just remind yourself where I live and that a day nary goes by that I don't want to punch a Jat fan in their throat. SANITY NOW
Albert playing the full year is still the most important thing. Yeah, Suh is a huge playmaker that was sorely missing, which even further makes anything short of playoffs a total failure for Philbin. He'll have even more pieces to work with in 2015 than there were in 2014. Must go 10-6 at the very least. The damn Bills went 9-7 in 2014. Plus the Dolphins run D was abysmal. Lions were 1st I think in 2014. Suh must have been a big part of it. Need to fill those WR, OL, Secondary holes now.
14 is at the edge of where a player we really covet might fall. I'd trade up if necessary to get a potentially great player (probably at most cost us our 3rd). Preferably, it's either a top WR or Waynes. However, signing Suh makes me feel better if we end up trading down now (assuming no one we really wanted was at 14). We'd probably get an extra 2nd and still pick in the 20's in the 1st. Lots of good players there at multiple positions of need.
What he is probably thinking is,if the NFL is a QB driven league and the Dolphins are willing to pay a Defensive Tackle $20 million dollars a year, he must be worth a lot more than the $15 million a year it has been reported the Dolphins want to sign him for. I have no doubt Tannehill's agent has already decided that Tannehill should be offered a contract which makes him the highest paid player on the team. In fact if Tannehill's agent isn't demanding he be the highest paid player on the roster when he signs his new contract, Tannehill should fire his agent and hire a new agent.
Yes and if the Dolphins had Aaron Rogers at QB, Bill Belicheck as the head coach and the Seahawks defense, they would have won the SB last year too.
I agree, if we sign Suh and Cooper/White are gone by #14, I say the smart move would be to trade down, pick up more picks (we still have a lot of needs) and draft DGB or Jaelen Strong at the end of the first round. I do not want Parker, I dont see anything spectacular about his game.
Really? That's what you post as a response? If we'd had Suh last year, we'd have been a playoff team. Our defense was abysmal against the run, and bad in fourth quarters. Zero pass rush when it mattered.
That's horse****. I didn't say anything outlandish. We had two very key injuries...so key that as soon as they happened both units dropped off a cliff. That's fact, not kool-aid or insanity. So would have shored up our run defense. Fact. We are getting him now, so its not crazy to think how much better our team would have been with him last year. I get it, you're one of those people that looks at the final record and then makes their opinion up, but again, I didn't say anything crazy.
I really doubt this. Just because you're a QB doesn't mean you deserve to be the highest paid player on the team. Tannehill's agent will probably start negotiations with a figure he thinks is at the high end of "fair market value" (or maybe a bit higher..), but it's not going to be Suh level.
