The Lions are very excited to welcome back OG Rob Sims and welcome CB Javier Arenas. Sims has started every game at guard for us in the last 5 years and we are thrilled to get him back at the veteran's minimum. Arenas will give us some depth at CB and has solid return ability. Two bargains we are happy to have.

If you're going to sign a player and release him that same hour, please just rescind the bid because you're just making me have to do more work.

The Cincinnati Bengals welcome three new additions to their roster:

    WR Andre Holmes ($750,000)
    LB Jasper Brinkley ($750,000)
    S Jaiqauwn Jarrett ($510,000)

We believe all three are tremendous values and will be vital role players as our organization ends the completion of its transformation from fringe playoff team to legitimate Super Bowl contender.

Brinkley (74 tackles, 12 assists in less than 500 snaps in 2014) is one of the best run-stuff LBs in the NFL. Big, physical and instinctive, he thrived as a two-down LB in Minnesota and will have a similar role for us. Only two MLBs had more Stops than he did with fewer attempts; He also missed just four tackles, or one miss per every 117 plays he was on the field. Comparatively, more higher-regarded LBs like Chris Borland (60.9), Luke Kuechley (92.2), Brandon Spikes (64.9) and Bobby Wagner (95.85) all missed more tackles per play. We think we got a steal here. Sio Moore (6-1, 240) can move to Mike in our nickel package.

Jarrett will serve as our third safety but can start if needed; in fact, he would've been a full-time starter this year if the Jets didn't invest a high pick in Calvin Pryor. His +4.1 PFF grade indicates production in 389 snaps, especially in the final six games of the season (27 tackles, 2 INTs) when he had 39+ snaps in every contest. A fluid athlete, Jarrett moved very well in space, giving up an opposing passer rating of 44.6 percent and surrendered a completion just 50% of the time when the ball was thrown in his area. At 25, Jarrett's best years are ahead of him.

Holmes, we believe, is a great addition to what is unarguably the best WR corps around. He's still developing after three years in the league (must get more consistent), but has emerged as legitimate deep threat. At 6-4, 210 pounds, he can stretch the field with the best of them. He's a bargain after recording more than 1,000 combined receiving yards in the past two seasons. Adds a nice compliment inside to the diminutive but uber productive Andrew Hawkins when we go 4 WR sets. Drew Brees says thanks for another solid target. Only 26.

These are the type of moves that can win championships. While they aren't the splashiest signings, all three bring value at a low cost and fit perfectly into specific roles.

Could be a rough FA for BK's dynasty team. First Maclin to the Chiefs..... and next up might be Latavius Murray buried behind Demarco Murray.

Man, add Boik's team in [Demarco potentially going to Oakland] and that signing would kill 2 birds with one stone.

How many times a game can Carr turn and hand off to Murray? How many times a game can White Cassel force the ball to Sammy Watkins? Good thing I have 2 1sts in the top 5 this year in that league :)

Heh...CK convinced me to pick up Eddie Lackey in the draft. Thankfully I only spent 205 on it.

I still don't know how I clued into Coastal Carolina though last year. I don't really follow the college game at all.

The Jets are happy to announce they have signed, without contest, DE George Johnson. This young Edge rusher will be a steal for us, proving to be an effective pass rusher with a +3.4 grade on PFF. We are thrilled to put him across from Sheldon Richardson on third down.

The Buccaneers are thrilled to welcome new additions S Dwight Lowery and OG Dan Connolly:

Lowery, 29, is primarily a FS, though he has played at both the SS and dime linebacker positions. He played over 1,000 snaps last year, recording 60 tackles and 2 picks, and ranked in the top half of PFF's safeties. He will rotate at FS with Stevie Brown, fill out a secondary that is now stacked with Talib, Verner, Bouye, Finnegan, Ihedigbo, and Brown.

Dan Connolly, 32, was a captain for the New England Patriots, and played primarily at LG for the team last year, though he has also had starting experience at C and RG, where we expect he will excel alongside our other ex-Patriot, Logan Mankins. The pair will be some of our most influential veteran leaders in the locker room, and will lead the offensive line.

Seahawks pleased to QB Case Keenum. He should slide in as the #2 behind Russ with his mobility and experience.

Seahawks excited to add OLB JT Thomas. Not just a homer signing but could easily displace Bruce Irvin as a starter on the outside.

Houston Texans are pleased to welcome their recent FA signings:

TE - Bear Pascoe – the former Giant was a top 10 run blocking TE in 2014 with a grade of +4.8, he has been brought in to compete with Craig Stevens as the blocking TE in Houston’s offense, in 2013 both Stevens and Pascoe ranked in the top 10 blocking TE’s as per PFF. The Texans offense ranked 16th in rushing last year, with the goal of cracking the top 10 for this coming season, Pascoe looks to play and important role in the step.

DE – Ropati Pitoitua – Brought in to play DE alongside JJ Watt; Pitoitua graded out as #15 (3-4 DE) as per PFF with a top 10 Run D grade of +10.5. He will replace Jared Crick who graded out at -7.5 vs the run in 2014, his addition will significantly improve the Texans run D which ranked 20th in the league last year. Having stout run stopper along the line will allow Romeo Crannel to move JJ Watt and now Trent Cole around the defense to attack the QB

SS – Dawan Landry – was brought in to improve the poor play from the safety position last year. Landry’s top 10 PFF grade of +10.9 with just under 1000 snaps in 2014 is a huge improvement over now back up DJ Swearinger’s( -11.1) grade, Landry is a strong player against the run and in coverage, the Texans will look to Dawan to help mentor a troubled yet very talented Swearinger to hopefully become the starting SS once again.

The Texans made an offseason commitment to improve their Run Defense and believe the addition of both Landry and Pitoitua will address that need

The Baltimore Ravens have had a busy last 24 hours. The Ravens have signed Offensive Linemen Eric Winston (LT/RT) for 710K and OG Daryn Colledge for 510K as reserves. They then further bolstered an already impressive and beefy Defensive Line by signing former Jet Kenrick Ellis (for 850K) as a reserve. The versatility of these players will insure the Ravens against injuries that may strike while performing as good rotational players who can start as needed.

While the ravens did lose out on the bidding for Antrel Rolle they did move Dennis Pitta, Bernard Pierce and a 4th round pick to Cleveland for Michael Griffin and a 6th round pick. Griffin had a bad year in 2014 but he has been on some every other year nonsense since 2011. In 2011 and 2013 Griffin graded out as a top 20 safety in the entire league. In 2012 and 14 Griffin graded out terribly, particularly in pass coverage. Good thing its an odd numbered year so the "good Michael Griffin" will show up as we anticipate the rotation of safeties with Griffin, Will Hill, Darian Stewart (who was signed earlier in free agency for 850K) and Antonio Allen (signed during cut free agency for 510K) to be among the best in the league.

Everyone is so happy with their new additions, we were too until this morning. The Bengals announce that they are dismayed and disappointed as they begrudgingly bring in CB Perrish Cox and S Jeromy Miles.

Miles was ranked as a Top 25 S by PFF (+5.4), but so what? Those are just silly numbers. Think we're happy about a guy who can push for a starting spot and be a beast on special teams for the minimum salary? Think we like his underrated coverage skills (thrown at just 8 times in 300+ snaps, gave up a passer rating of 4.6) or the fact he performed better the more he played (received a grade of +1.0 or higher in 4 of 5 games in which he logged 30+ snaps)? Should we be happy about his nice blend of speed and size (6-1, 211) or ability to play either safety spot? Nah.

Don't even get us started on Cox (or is it Cocks). $3.5 mil for a nickel back? Jesus, what were we thinking? Not like NFL defenses are in 5-DB formations more often than they're not nowadays. We're infuriated to be paying $3.5 mil for a ball hawk (led all CBs with 5 INTs in '14) who surrendered an average QB rating of 78.0? Think we like his versatility to competently play inside or outside? Nah.

Anyways, **** these guys. Didn't get better at all today. Probably got worse.
