    Mets talk.....

I think it is INSANE for Wilpon to slash payroll and then put his manager on notice? What sense does that make Boik?

They're the coupons....very little they do makes sense.

Alderson to me is also underwhelming as a GM. He gets way too much credit. He knows how to trade and how to build a farm system but his FA signings blow. The guys he signed (Cuddyer, Granderson) are high character but products of their previous environment. Moving the fences in and hiring Kevin Long is IMO, probably not going to make Granderson in to a 35 homer guy again. Cuddyer was signed simply because he's pals with Wright since Little League (literally).

Yeah and they moved the RF fences in about 8 feet. This team wasn't going to hit for much average anyway IMO so they have to generate some power somewhere I guess

Oooof thats pretty strong. Too bad its coming from a guy who is not only out of shape every spring training but has no shape. Sandoval is an ok player but I wouldnt have given him that contract. That has the potential to be a really bad deal

I think the only redeeming factor of his contract is that it only goes until his age 32 season, so he should hopefully be able to produce/maintain his level of output for 3 or 4 years before the decline really starts.

Yeah, I mean who knows Wainwright pitched for 7 years with a torn UCL but I'd be surprised if Tanaka threw 200 innings this year.

Good thing they at least have some SP depth. But yeah sucks that yet another pitcher is down before the year even starts.

That's the start of it, but I have seen inverted W guys get their arm back on time. Many do not.

Evan though Kershaw isn't exactly an inverted W guy, his throw arm does drop in a similar fashion. But its early enough he gets back on time with his arm.

Same reason Archer scares me. Not really inverted W, similar move to Kershaw. But arm doesn't get back on time and is late.

Pretty sure we have had the inverted W discussion before and there have been a lot of studies over the years that say just because a pitcher has that form it doesn't lead to a great risk of injury.

Obviously losing a year of development will hurt but on the bright side his injury has nothing to do with his arm, he should be able to bounce back.

the form doesn't lead to injury. The issue of timing is CAN create, can.

I disagree, the form leads to bad mechanics/habits which directly leads to injuries. You can see from those pictures above, that the arm angles are below the 90/0 degree plane, which leads to bad timing, use of deltoids instead of rotator cuff and places more stress on the elbow and humerus.

Alex Cobb is going to miss opening day due to forearm tightness. The Rays say it's nothing serious but definitely something to keep an eye on. Smyly is also going to miss his first start of the season. The Rays really need their pitching to stay healthy if they want to be any good this year as they don't have much of an offense.

Healthy, in any year, especially with the AL East being so close is key.

They are saying that Uherha could too now Fink?

Tanaka pitches 3.2 last night I watched it....lower velo, but his placement is on point and he is snapping over a mean splitter right now....keeping fingers crossed because IF he and Pineda stay healthy with that bullpen they are going to have decent pitching....

Easiest way to explain is to make an upside down W with your arms while trying to pitch. Also scroll up and look at the pictures Nappy posted, especially the Wheeler one.

Some people claim it leads to more injuries to pitchers but most research out there on the internets don't think that's the case.

Yeah Koji hurt his hamstring is something, is 50/50 to start the year. Personally I think he's a big injury risk anyway. I'd be surprised if he lasted his contract.

Exactly. We lost josh edgin to tj surgery last week but that was addition by subtraction. Losing Wheeler stinks. I was hoping to see Syndergaard or Steven Matz take the 5th starter role but ultra conservative Sandy is gonna do what sandy does....hand the 5th starter role to Dillon Gee. Ugh x 2.
