Surprised! Not sure who I preferred between him and Clay. With Cameron the upside is bigger, though the risk considerably more so. Tough to lose a homegrown late rounder like Clay. Damn.

But I'm excited to give Cameron a real QB and an offense that wants to attack the seams (which we should be able to do more now, as Clay wasn't a great seam threat). Lazor should pull that stuff from the Philly/Oregon playbooks.

3 TE goal line formation with Clay as the Fullback, and Todd Gurley as the tailback.

When he is heathy and on the field, Cameron is one of the best TE's in the league. Unfortunately he has missed several games due to injuries and three concussions over the past two years.

Clay also has had his share of injuries and it would probably cost the Dolphins similar type money to bring him back.

Whether they sign Cameron or Clay, all that really matters is whichever TE is on the roster next year. The Dolphins need him on the field and not out with an injury on game day.

According to James Walker at ESPN, the deal is done and Cameron has signed with the Dolphins.

PS It is also now being reported on Dolphins home page which includes an interview with Cameron after his signing.

Love the signing, great to have a Trojan on the team! A real seam busting tight end and red zone target finally. We havent had one of those since ever. Love it, hope he stays healthy.

if clay were to sign the tender, things could get interesting. probably would ask pouncey to restructure or something.

One conclusion I drew from the 1-on-1 with Jordan Cameron video is that Mike Tannenbaum is pretty good at selling the organization to the players... and looks like these players are genuinely excited about the innovations he's bringing in... great job so far, Mike!

Great signing. 3 concussions is scary...hope his health goes the way of Brent Grimes and not Moreno.

Reducing his 2015 salary as part of an extension.

I also don't think that there would be a plausible way to restructure Albert right now, especially coming off the injury.

There should be a clause in his contract that mandates he must wear a helmet at all times, on and off the field.

As much as I want to be excited, the realist in me doesn't see him lasting much longer than Keller.

    A shame, but I hope I'm wrong.

Jordan Cameron is an excellent football player and a great signing provided his medicals checked out, which all indications are they did. He'll wear a special helmet, he will be at increased further risk for concussions I'm sure, but he's still an excellent football player.

Something I think being missed is the possibility that Cameron plays on the outside in place of Brian Hartline. I see this as beneficial to the Dolphins for a number of reasons:

    1. He notches every category for a wide receiver, quickness, speed, agility, jumping ability and body control. Also good hands catcher.
    2. He was a wide receiver at Southern Cal. People forget that. He converted to TE for the NFL because he was so big.
    3. This particular offense Miami runs could really use the added BLOCKING prowess on the perimeter, for screens and runs.
    4. This particular offense does not ask the perimeter receiver to be a cat-quick man coverage beater, sight adjust specialist like Hartline was. That was part of the problem for Brian.
    5. Playing on the perimeter would very likely drastically reduce Jordan Cameron's chances of taking more concussions.

Let's get right to it. The dude is 6'5" & 254 lbs, ran a 4.53 with a 1.52 ten yard split, jumped 37.5" vertically and 9'11" broad jump, 23 bench reps, 4.03 shuttle which is fast for a CORNER let alone a 250 pounder, 6.82 cone drill (see what I just said), 33.5 inch arms and 9.75 inch hands. Athletically, he's Brian Hartline but 4 inches taller and 60 pounds heavier. Compare all the numbers. It holds up. Only thing Hartline has on him is a 0.17 second faster cone drill.

I think perhaps the reason Miami went ahead and did this could be that the idea began to build that Jordan Cameron could be exactly what you ALL have been begging for in terms of being that big, strong wide receiver that can go up and get the football.

Ask Brent Grimes how tough he is to cover. Jordan Cameron caught a touchdown in Grimes' zone coverage because Grimes underestimated his speed and lost him while looking for the ball. Cameron also flat out BEAT Grime in man coverage on the outside on a wide receiver route, caught the ball over Grimes and went to the ground while Grimes tumbled by, got up and ran to the end zone for what the officials initially deemed a touchdown before review showed that Grimes barely nudged him as he went to the ground.
