And you guys are proving that an all or nothing mentality is best for this site.

Full dead money charges on everything or no dead money at all. I thought I could implement dead money and still condone trading like people enjoy... but apparently not.

You keep saying you let me have my top target Gipson, but you fail to mention you bid him up. That's the exact opposite of letting me have Gipson.

I had been going after JPP for a long time and I told you I had no plans of bidding him up then, when you bid up Gipson you essentially wanted me to as you so eloquently point out, "have my pants around my ankles" by signing Gipson after you get JPP. So you put me in the exact situation that you were in and that you bid up Gipson to get out of, not to mention I then had to spend an extra $1,000,000. So I did the same thing that you did and ensured that I would sign Gipson by bidding up JPP.

I never once made this personal. You came to me trying to make a truce of some sort and I said no. You can highlight everything in the PM i sent you but you fail to highlight the important sentence:

For the record, building through free agency never works, especially when the money is fake. This is coming from a redskins fan.

Edited out of respect for UCF Finatic, who calls this place home outside of the GML. But for the record, I thought this was handled very poorly tonight.

Not one time did I say that anything was done to "get back at someone" at all.

I just don't get that narrative. I have consistently said the trades are what bug me.

You have a great team no doubt about that. And I respect all parties involved to really consider it collusion. I think there was an attempt to kind of keep all parties happy in the PM's with Todd and UCF that just went bad.

Here is my problem with this whole scenario....I can handle Atlanta wanting to create cap space. We all do it. Little doubt about that. My issue with is, Atlanta gave up assets to create cap space. He literally got less then nothing to those deals. I moved a 3.1M punter and 6.2M TE with half a hip no one really wanted. Anyone can be moved and get you a piece you want if youre creative enough. My issue is he didnt try and do anything else. He just handed you players and then gave picks up in the process. That to me is ridiculous.

Now would I actually downvote anyone for that? No. Its for fun. Theres no money involved and Im judging based on the body of work. But those two trades with you are and should be viewed in a vacuum. There were better ways to go about doing what he wanted to do.

GIK just told me that this shut down wasn't about targeting or going after "your" FA's so I really don't care anymore. I've done every move from the beginning to better my team as I see fit and will continue to do so.

That being said, my last two point are the following:
1.) You bid on Gipson after saying you were going to let me have him so that you wouldn't have "your pants down your ankles" in case a team made a serious run after JPP. So you essentially put me in the same situation that you were in, "my pants were down around my ankles" if someone bid up Gipson after you had signed JPP. So I put a bid on JPP to protect myself like you were trying to do by putting a bid on Gipson. (wow this sounds like the NSA here)

2.) The PM that I sent you and you keep breaking up and highlighting was genuine. Every word. You can believe it or not, that is up to you, but at the time I sent it I meant every single word. Would have been quite the parallel universe to see what would have happened had we not acted in fear. And again, I threw in that disclaimer (except it wasn't the Jets that bid him up...):
    UCF FINatic to Toddphins:

And that's all I'm going to say on this subject because I truly don't care anymore. I'm just going to continue doing what I think is best for my Falcons.

GIK explained to me that it was more about me trading player to avoid dead cap rather than whatever Todd is trying to drum up between us.

I apologize for trying to trade picks to create cap room. I sincerely thought I was following every rule while doing those trades, had I known I was "skirting" the rules I wouldn't have done that. I saw a post about someone offering a 3rd to take an overpriced OT and I thought to myself that isn't a half bad idea and tried to implement it myself.

I apologize to everyone if it appears I was trying to skirt the rules. Yes, I was trying to avoid the dead cap but I didn't know the fashion I went about trying to avoid it was frowned upon.

Im not sure Id feel any different about the example your brought up and I know you well enough to believe that it wasnt really an attempt to skirt the rules...more just a silly idea that went really bad :)

Like I said, I dont believe in holding it against teams in voting. By then It'll probably be long forgotten by most.

Yes. I like tracking how player I acquired do throughout the season and in their careers.

I still remember drafting Tyrann Mathieu, every time I watch him play I feel like his success is my success in a weird way.

Right but that was with honest intentions. I have a starting RT with a 6.9M cap hit who is uncuttable. I didn't just jump right out offering a 4th rounder if you recall. The process started with me wanting a 6th for him.... and it slowly progressed until it reached my having to give away a pick for someone to absorb his cap hit. UCF's trade nonsense was for players who are cuttable... but he figured he could kill two birds with one stone by including a 4th rounder to further reduce his cap.

Not to mention, I never posted a Cherilus trade, let alone multiple crazy trades in succession, and I sure didn't dishonestly attempt to screw a fellow GM over in my pursuit to gain that 6.9M in cap relief. However, had I posted a trade and GIK came down on it, I would've asked what needed to be done to make it acceptable and I would've taken that path.

As far as the "ridiculous price on a free safety" goes, he didn't HAVE to bid on JPP first which then forced him to be over the cap on Gipson. If Gipson means THAT much to him, why screw around by going after JPP when UCF has a detailed spread sheet showing he has no cap room for it, and he knew that he had no room for both players b/c he told me so in a PM less than 6 hours before bidding on JPP and then re-bidding on Gipson. So don't buy for a minute all this nonsense about how he didn't know, was drunk, made an honest booboo or what have you. The paper trail says otherwise.

yeah um, then why didn't you say that amidst our Gipson talks that involved you stating repeatedly that you had 0 interest in pursuing JPP if I backed off Gipson? Just say what we all know, that you wanted to beguile me away from Gipson so you could lock him up without a bidding war which would allow you to target JPP thanks to the cap savings a lack of bidding war would've provided.

yes yes right, I held a gun to your head and forced you to tell me you had ZERO interest in pursing JPP and would not be dismantling your team overnight in return for me backing off Gipson......... And :sidelol: to the last sentence.

LOL, ...do you mean the bid that I PM'd you about that was required on my part to ensure I'd at least have a 24 hour window with JPP just in case a bidding war ensued since he still had 18 hours left at the time? That's a TINY concession on your part to be guaranteed Gipson, and at a reduced price to boot.

.... do you mean the bid that would've allowed you to obtain Gipson for a single minimum bid increase rather than whatever inflated price a bidding war would've created had there been no allusion to an agreement made? How turrble that I was actually saving you money to use elsewhere.

Again, what does that have to do with anything? It's JPP we're talking about here. That was the trade-off. You'd leave JPP alone if I ceased a bidding war over Gipson.

In the real world many of these trades and instances of salary cap trimming actually happen dude. They just don't happen with as much frequency, but that's only b/c the real NFL is ongoing. If the real NFL were told that 2015 would be it's final year, I guaranf***ingtee you it would look JUST LIKE THIS PLACE, except with less trade rape, with no ridiculous trades like Atlanta's that are intentionally detrimental to the team, and with no intentions of screwing over fellow GMs who aren't Divisional rivals like Atlanta attempted.

Just b/c this is a GM League and not the real deal, that doesn't mean it has to kick integrity to the curb like you're suggesting. That's the point I was making, that real NFL GMs have something on the line to prevent them from engaging in such integrity-deprived bologna. They have jobs on the line, owners to answer to, a league to answer to, etc. But regardless, we shouldn't HAVE to have anything on the line to act with some integrity in the first place.
