Could they be our SS and or FS.
Niether one is cut out for cornerback.
Is Travis just nickleback and backup material?

Jason Allen has proved he can start in this league. Daniels? It appears he is nothing more then depth and not really starting quality.

i don't think i like Mr.daniels, he seems a little punkish to me, the only players i keep from our current secondary is jason allen, michael lehan and the bullfrog

Daniels is just not a great player. He played well his first season but since then hasn't been able to get back to that steady level.

Jason Allen however, has proved to me he was worth the 1st rounder.

Travis Daniels plays that WR pretty good but they find a way to get the ball over him

I think we need to get one new CB and the rest should stay i think our Secondary should be
    Will allen
    Marcus Trufant
    Jason Allen
    and my favorite Yerimiah Bell

i remember when a lot of people on these boards were flipping out about the jason allen pick
i said he would be worth it

the guy is very talented and he has impressed me this year, he would have been better quicker if he didnt hold out that long
which is the biggest gripe i have about him

daniels has not been that good, and i really like bell the guy is a spark plug and he is a play maker

Jason Allen looks to be all right. Whether he was worth the 16th overall pick (I had Cromartie, McNeill, and Greenway there on my short list back then) is still in question but he's doing a nice job. Daniels should get more time as a FS next training camp because he has the awareness just not the speed. And Allen likely should stay at the safety position.

As for CB's, Will Allen is an ok #2 CB but we need a #1 CB. Allen's hardly a blanket corner and has hands of stone. Lehan should then put back to thenickel & dime packages and ST as we're languishing there.

Lehan is a nickel. But we need a playmaker at Cb. Will Allen is a good #2, but we need a true #1 shutdown, ball hawking CB.

Travis Daniels has to be one of the worse defensive backs I've ever seen. It doesn't matter where he's placed -- the guy is awful. Jason Allen on the other hand has shown a ton of promise. Let's evaluate him next year, which is when he should get 16 games as the starting FS. He's earned it.

I would prefer Will Allen as the #2 . . . and then sign a Trufant as our #1 . . . bring Lehan as the nickel . . . and also draft one first day (Cason or Jenkins would be lovely). We would be kinda sweet w/ those 4 CB's.

The lack of pass rush this year really exposed guys like Travis Daniels and Andre Goodman.

As far as safety . . . I wouldn't mind seeing Jason Allen, Yermiah Bell and Renaldo Hill back. Worrell IMO can come back as well because of depth purposes and his special teams ability. We also need to draft a safety as well.

For the love of god, I don't ever wanna see Schulters on this team again . . . .he had his one moment in the sun for us in 2005 when he had that pick against Carolina . . . . but he proved late in the season that he is strictly TOAST material . . . he can't cover for nothing.

it took troy polamalu 3-4 years to prove himself. same with Jason Allen

    J. Allen can start and play well. hes got like what 5 INTs this year? if he played this well in the first half, he'd make the pro bowl. at least we know Jason Allen, Will Allen, and Michael Lehan are keepers. all we need now is an SS, and a shutdown corner and our secondary will look great!

Travis Daniels is a liability. He face guards too much and gets too many PI's for a guy who is a reserve. We can upgrade. J. Allen is boom or bust at this point, but he does show play making ability that only Bell has shown.

apparantly you don't remember Reggie Howard aka, I get burnt deep, and miss the short tackle. But both Daniels and his LSU teammate Cory Webster have lost a lot of credibility in the league. They were both thought as great prospects as rookies, but have since lost spots on their respective rosters.

actually, he was a Pro bowler and All-Pro his second year in the league, but he was in a similar situation as J Allen his rookie year. He barely got PT even though the guy in front of him was not very good. It took him 3 years to become a great all around player though

I think Daniels and Crowder are two of the surprise "bubble guys" for us next year, they simply haven't improved enough in 3 yrs, to keep them as they are is to steal playing time from a different player who can improve those positions....

Jason Allen needs to be careful, this is his first taste of any sort of success at the NFL Starter level, he cannot afford to go on cruise control in the offseason. And let's keep in mind that 3 of the games that JA started were in awful conditions for passing, that cut down his responsibilities at Safety, he could be more one dimensional in the Steelers, Giants and Eagles games...

You can see how Daniels would be a frustration for a coaching staff. He looks the part and has basic coverage skills and enough speed, but that's where it ends. As someone else posted he face guards too much, with no clue how to locate the football. Then you get the bonus idiocy of celebrating a missed play by the offense, when he had nothing to do with it other than being in the vicinity.

    I hope he's gone in '08.

Though I see Allen covering the opposing sides' #2 WR's most of the time. If he were truly a #1 corner, wouldn't one think he'd be put on guys like Moss, etc? But I agree, we need a ball hawk #1 corner to put on the top WR. FA has a good crop near the top if anyone is willing to shill out.

I don't think an Allen/Trufant would come close to those tandems. Maybe in the top half but not anywhere near top 5. Bailey is the best and Bly's probably also in the top 5 in terms of CB's. Both are true cover corners with playmaking ability. Woodson's likewise a great cover corner and Harris is well balanced. And plus, the way I see it, Trufant's only doing well in his contract year and himself gambles a bit too much. I don't quite consider him a lockdown corner though he is a big play guy. Allen is best in the blitz and run support and above average in covering a team's #2 WR but won't make ints unless someone else grabs it and he yanks it out.

I am hoping that the light came ALL the way on.. that he can equate his success to deciding to become a pro, and work all the time towards improvement. If he can continue to make good decisions, his natural abilities should pay big reward.
