After two drug suspensions in one year, and a lack of production of almost any kind, the obvious answer is no... Chip Kelly clearly believes he's s king maker. Sam Bradford for a #1? Really... I have to wonder if its possible at this point. We don't have a strategy for him anyway and his cap number is growing every year. I don't know if he's any better than some of the backups like Tripp or McCain anyway. Inb4 even Kelly isn't that stupid
Apparently... and unfortunately, our plan is to keep him at Defensive End. So there is a plan, but Jordan himself says he is a linebacker.
Lol if we can get a 1st for Dion I'd do it in a heartbeat. I'd do it for a 2nd even. I'm not sure if people fully understand how much talent is going to fall to us in positions of need in the first 2 rounds. This would be the perfect draft for the Dolphins to have extra first day picks. A lot of the other teams are going to be picking positions we aren't even interested in.
Hes a suspension away from missing the entire year. His trade value is a 7th round pick. Might as well keep him for the same reasons Jacksonville will keep Blackmon. The talent is there, the value isnt.
I disagree completely. If they did not know how to utilize him, he doesnt make that play on Johnson. He doesn't make that play on Gronk. He was injured, suspended, and is green. Do you really think he has any legs to stand on with that on his resume? I really do not get the hate for this staff when Jordan clearly hasn't shown enough to start. Maybe he gets his true shot this year now that he knows the defense? I think this staff prides themselves on trying to develop rather than making him a starter based on draft position. I think he will benefit from that this year.
This guy is an OLB NOT a Defensive End! They are ruining this guy by making him put on weight and playing him out of position.
Coyle said in December they are going to move him around. Tannenbaum just said their plans are to have Dion to split time between OLB and pass-rush DE. The guy was suspended practically half the season last year. I'm sure that derailed their plans just a smidge. Have a little patience. Geez.
I've been thinking, this is the type of draft where I wouldn't mind giving up a future 2016 pick to get an extra 2nd round pick.. something like a 3rd and a 2016 2nd. Don't know how future picks are valued in this case.
If you could put him at a position where he could do that on a regular basis, while also rushing the passer unpredictably from that same spot, you'd have a hell of a mismatch for opposing offenses, in terms of accounting for him and his whereabouts on any given play. You'd essentially have the defensive equivalent of the mismatch that tight ends currently present in the NFL. If I were looking to make use of this guy's physical talent to the fullest extent, I'd be putting him at a position like that on defense, while also using him in the red zone to catch TD passes.
This post has a disturbingly low level of panic, rhetoric and negativity. Please, in the future, remember this is the mains, and use less logic and reason.
With Chip Kelly under a lot of scrutiny I doubt he does something like that. I would take that in a heart beat though since the team can't seem to find Jordan's place on the team. I would love to see Jordan at LB.
Ild like to see them keep dion and try to use him in this new front 7. Having both wake and suh disrupting should give dion some great opportunities to show if he is worth his draft status. It feels a litttle too soon to give up on him
I still can't believe we're forcing him into DE SMH. I LOVED him at UO, was shocked that they forced him to gain weight and put his hand on the ground. The dude could be a stud LB, very high football IQ. I'll be disappointed if he doesn't make it to a 2nd contract. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Pretty sure all Kelly is focused on right now is trying to find a way to move up to draft Mariota. Doubt that trading anything at this point for Jordan is in his way of thinking.
I'm beginning to think that they have pretty much given up on him...or perhaps this coming year is his MOB... It was obvious that he wasn't the prolific pass rusher on the edge at this level as he was at the collegiate level. I think they may just be looking for a spot to put him in...I don't believe that adding the weight to him was the right thing, but what was the right thing (to this point)... I'm pretty disappointed in him altogether at this point...
That's the thing though, I'm a UO season ticket holder. He's a freak athlete, but he's not a pass-rush specialist. The dude is fast and has freaky measurable a, and yes he got pressure, but overall he was a damn dependent LB more than anything. He was disruptive and could drop into coverage. He should be used to stretch pursuit from sideline to sideline and rush occasionally to keep teams off balance. He can do it all, but they're putting him in one-tricky pony territory. They were paying the LB's big money and you end up having to pay them. That and the suspensions, he ended up just being out of shape and out of the line up. This will be his make or break season. Otherwise, it's been nice knowing you.
Right now after two non productive years in the league and a drug suspension, Jordan isn't worth more than a 6th or 7th round selection. If he doesn't show more next season, he won't even be worth a draft pick. It comes down to either he proves this coming season that he deserves to be playing in the NFL or else he will go down as the biggest bust in Dolphin draft history. based on where he was drafted and the fact it cost the Dolphins a second round pick to move up and draft him.
Jordan can play in the NFL but he's not a 4-3 player and he wasn't drafted to be one. We had the PERFECT set up to run a 3-4 but the staff chose not to do it. Bye bye Dansby, Burnett, Soliai, Odrick, Starks, Jordan too if he can't find his niche soon. Bye bye Smith bc he's not an off corner, bye bye Vontae bc he's not a zone corner, and to top it off we've really only found a replacement for two of those players. Grimes and a 19 million per year DT. Im good w the changes on offense but remaking the D has been a friggin disaster.
