My opinion of him is that he is an okay coach. Just okay. A mixed bag with a solid defensive mind. What does 'history' show ?????
Sub 500. 6 years. THAT'S history. THAT'S fact. No opinion
If anything... I think history has shown THAT fact has more basis in reality than your opinion of him.

I'm not gunna put him on some pedestal. He is what he is, I'm still open to any kind of bet that we outperform his team this year. You seem confident in him and BUF.. so Let me know.

Rex Ryan is the most overrated "Defensive mastermind" in the history of the NFL. Which in Rex's case stood for Not For Long

Rex was handed a defense Ranked 4th in the NFL by Buffalo. When he was with the Jets they were ranked 2nd prior to his arrival, 1rst his second year and then in the mid 20's yr 3,4,5 and 6

I like the direction of the team and I'm always positive about the smart moves we've been finally making but right now I still a 9-7 team. Our division is loaded with sick defense. We have Suh but I still don't trust Coyle at the helm. Taylor and Davis scare me, Delmas won't make the season. We have Grimes and Jones but we still need more talent there. Bryce was so so in Pitt last year. McCain and Stewart are also unproven. A lot has to happen

idk about all that, but I certainly agree he is over-glorified around here and put on a bit too high of a pedestal.

Even though He's done it numerous times. Like the season right before we picked him up. 16 games.:pity:

I'd be more surprised if we don't have the best defense in the AFCE when this is all over. We aren't done making moves and still have the draft. It's interesting how you seemingly undervalue some of our best players.

& Suh isn't JAG or something. FWIW.

That's because people place far to great a weight on what seems to be "aggressiveness" in what they believe they're seeing in a head coach's personality. They figure since football is an aggressive sport, an aggressive head coach must make players play tougher and better.

I agree, but part of the reason I think Rex is good is because he calls "aggressive" plays (e.g. the defensive blitzes on 3rd down that stumped the Patriots in the playoffs years ago), which I guess says something about his personality.

Belichick would be a better example.

The reason I didn't bring up Bellicheat is because he CHEATS. Plain and simple. He's cheating still but we just don't know what it is because he hasn't been caught, don't know what it is but he is, that's what cheaters do, and he's been doing it his whole life. But I do agree with you. The one thing Bellicheat does and I love it, when he has you down on the ropes he keeps his foot on your throat and will run up the score. I hate when other coaches get offended by running up the score. This is the NFL where men play a physical game. It's a battle! Hey, when you stop trying to win, I'll stop trying to run up the score.
