How many of you who are b!tching about Walton ever watched him play, and really focused on him? Not saying he is great, but if he is as terrible as some of you seem to believe, then half the centers in the league are terrible. Hey, this signing is nothing else but depth. I doubt the guy starts unless injury. I'm fine with him at depth and he should be fine in his role. Think about the scabs we had backing up the last few years.
I definitely agree he is better versus the pass, but he is not a liability as a run blocker. I watched 15 minutes of Giants 2014 film and the Broncos post above. He lacks the speed, the strength, and the agility to be a top lineman. I do like that he seems to always get his hands on the defender without losing leverage. I like he keeps himself between the QB and the defender on pass plays. I like that even when loosing ground he stays engaged with the defender. I like that he seals the hole effectively, and he has a knack of placing one hand on a defender when out of position to maintain a hole for an extra yard or two. He seems to have maximized his potential with sound fundamentals. I am happy with him as a backup.
