That's because Fitzpatrick already knows the Jets OC's playbook. They went with familiarity.

This makes me happy. Matt Moore won my heart in 2011. I love having him as a backup and I believe he has good value. Classy dude too.

Was there any outside interest in Moore? Did he even visit another team?

Don't know, but I didn't hear of any. Still surprised there wasn't more interest in him given some of the QB situations around the league.

Why? If Tanny should go down, you want Tavares Jackson out there ?? Or some rookie, 7th round pick ?? Not me, I'm glad we have MMoore...and that said, nothing against MMoore, but I hope we don't have to use him but he's a good influence on the team and good enough to have around "just in case"...

On the sidelines, he is an extra set of eyes for Tannehiil. You can often see them discussing things when Ryan comes off the field. Ryan likes him and so does Marino. That is enough reason to re-sign him,

as long as he isn't under center it's a good move. I'm not surprised other teams had no interest. He's a pick 6 vending machine.

Oh, is that so? How many pick sixes has he thrown in the regular season for his career?

Defenses game planned for him for every one of his starts in 2011. His QB rating was 87.1. Not bad for a backup. And, please do not respond like those simplistic posters who say all he ever did was throw jump balls to Marshall. Because that is pure nonsense. You know it and I know it.

We must have been watching different games :shifty:

I was pulling my hair out with the risky way Moore played. Drove me crazy.

The problem with that was, it tied our hands for awhile because we had to keep the 7 million available from the transition tag. What we should have done is not waited all of that time for Buffalo to give him an offer in writing that in no way we would match because of the 24.5 million due first two years of contract. So yes, it kept us on hold with signing anyone else until we knew what Buffalo's offer actually was imho.

He threw jump balls to Marshall....just as he just "threw it up" to Steve Smith in Carolina, saw it live with my own two eyes. Guy can pick apart a defense, sure, but he also makes boneheaded plays, and is inconsistent. If he wasnt he'd be a starter somewhere.

That doesn't take away from him being a back up, where if Tannehill went down for a game or two....I'd take Moore over pretty much any other backup in the league to come in and give us a fighting chance.

he's a backup so by number, not many. however by average per attempt, a lot.

there is a reason he was only good for 1 year in Carolina... With a year of him on tape, the next year he was ****, cause all the defenses knew what to expect. Again, he is a fine back-up, however, if he ever plays for an extended time, well it doesn't really matter because we'd lose anyway, it's just more embarrassing losing with him throwing int after int for 6 after int.

You realize that Matt Moore was the last QB to lead the team to an actual winning record when he started?

He certainly wasn't the main reason for that, and thats as much because everyone between Marino and Tannehill was total crap as well. As I recall, Reggie Bush completely blew up and won at least two of those games by himself on offense, and the D suddenly came alive and won a few on their own as well.

Sorry I don't have time to go watch all his games played, I have a life. I do know that watching him in miami he threw almost 1 per game.

In 13 games during the 2011 season, he had 9 ints. Since you said he threw almost one pick 6 per game, does that mean all 9 of those ints were pick 6s?

  38. MrClean

    MrClean Inglourious Basterd Club Member

I am looking for something that supports baseless unfounded accusations. "Pick 6 vending machine"? "him throwing int after int for 6 after int."? Ridiculous statements like that when made, really should have something to back them up IMO.

    YMMV.
