And during BB's time in Cleveland he compiled the great record of 36-44.

IMO, 3 seasons, especially on such a dysfunctional team, is not enough time to judge a head coaches' greatness or mediocrity

Yep and he was fired because of his long record in Cleveland as he should have been. Belicheck had proved he was one of the best defensive coordinators in the history of the NFL before he was hired as Cleveland's HC, but he failed to get the job done and lost his job. That is what should have happened based on his won-loss record with the Browns.

As far as the dysfunction you refer to with the team. I always assumed it was the job of the head coach to ensure that the team is prepared to play at their best each week and also his job to make sure there is not a lot of dysfunction on the team.

You can view Philbin anyway you wish. To me he is a mediocre HC who was lucky to get the job in the first place and once he is fired after the 2015 season, I don't see him ever getting another chance to be a head coach in the NFL.

He was also given 5 years. Most would argue that that wasn't enough time based off of what he's done in NE.

It's not the HC's job to come onto a team that's sucked for 12 years and turn it around in 3 seasons. Especially with a horrible GM. It takes time. If after 5 seasons he's shown no improvement I'll be one of the first to say that he's not right for the job.

Also, you're wrong about him never being offered a HC position before the Dolphins.

Dion Jordan has less sacks in his first two seasons than both Eric Kumerow and John Bosa.

So, he is either a complete bust or not a DE.

See if he is something else....

Lol he was offered the HC position at a Div III school, his alma mater...no team in the pros would ever be foolish enough to offer him their head coach position, except for the one Stephen Ross runs of course.

    It wasn't true.

Anyhow, I believe the Bucs also offered him the HC position in 2012.

    the poor house
any fan that says 5 years isn't enough time has to be a) high on crack b) not serious about winning C) living in lala land.

3 years is definitely enough time to give a coach regardless of how god a gm is or isn't.

I cant wait 10 years to see this team make the playoffs I WANT TO WIN NOW DAMN IT .

IF a team is still 500 in a coach's 3 rd year its not a given that coach will win if you give him 10 years and some of us is tired of the lame excuses that many posters like to make .
