Why are wilsons passing stats better then RT's? Running team, running QB, solid defense. Tannehill should mop the floor with him. But he doesn't. Because he doesn't have the talent. The worked with what he had comment was about the offense. His WR & TE blow. If Tannehill was a seahawk they wouldn't be over 6 wins a season.
I'm disgusted people like this can even call themselves Fans. "Delusional" is the understatement of the century.
My "substance" was facts and numbers that proved your wrong on the first few pages I posted in. The stats you completely ignored when we all smoked you. you said RTH is Henne 2.0 because of their first 2 years as players, Like that even matters or something. WE KNOW FOR A FACT: One of them progressed to 90+ QBR in his 3rd year and has ONLY progressed from year to year. No deviation. Only progression. the other has sat at 75 QBR for his 7 year career. There is no comparison. There is no logic. You are Wrong. RTH >>>>>> Henne for miles and miles. It's so disgusting of a comparison It's hilarious. Delusional. It's saddening that you're a fan of the same team as me, really.
How many does Marino have, you know, your namesake? Is Wilson, or Big Ben better than Marino? Just stop it already.
Superbowls don't make 1 QB better than another. TEAMS, yes. QBs no. I guess by that logic, that Marino guy sucks too, eh?
Tannehill will never win a superbowl, he doesn't perform in big games. Lets sign him to a long term deal.
Frankly, Romo and Kaepernick have a lot more to work with than Tannehill. I am not convinced that Kaepernick is going to be a very good NFL QB long term.
None of the teams you talked about have had any success since paying those QBs big money. They are at a severe disadvantage because they are paying so much for the QB position. I'm not saying one way is better than another, but we are at the point where paying $15-20M for an average QB may be a worse option than continually drafting them and finding value FAs. At the very least, those teams have done themselves a disservice by not drafting QBs with the hopes of replacing the ones they have.
Only the Colts and the Seahawks had cheap quarterbacks in the playoffs last season. Baltimore did make the playoffs last season. They did come close to beating the Patriots, who went on to the superbowl.
The patriots did to a certain degree. Sure, but they actually won one when Flacco was underpaid. They were able to put a better team around him. I don't think its a coincidence that since the new CBA was enacted, the last three SB champions have had QBs which were paid below market-value. Teams have become a lot more reliant on young players, which makes cap space even more valuable.
Winning the superbowl is hard. They probably still wouldn't have won it if he was paid $1. There is a HUGE difference between "not winning a superbowl" and "not having any success" I think it is a coincidence. Not nearly enough information to form a conclusion. Of all the playoff teams in 2014 only 3 weren't in the top 10. Yes two went to the superbowl, however the Ravens were close to beating the Patriots and the Packers went into overtime to lose. The team the Patriots destroyed had a cheap quarterback.
So being better than the dolphins=good/elite? That offensive line has been living off reputation from years ago
So by your logic Doug Williams , Trent Dilfer , Eli Manning , Brad Johnson , jeff Hosteter, and mark Rypien ALL were better QBs then Dan Marino? And if you are not sure yes they all won a super bowl. I could have listed more but hopefully you get the point, I doubt it though.
It is hard, and it basically requires an 'all of the above' approach. You don't need just a couple of things. You need a great QB, a great defense, etc. Paying a QB $20M/yr. makes it a lot harder to build a great team. Since paying Flacco, the Ravens haven't been able to put a team nearly as good around him. The same goes for the Packers. If the Packers were paying Rodgers $5M/yr., I'm pretty confident they are in the SB. The same goes for the Ravens.
I am not confident it either. Winning the Superbowl is hard. Only team to not make the playoffs who are paying their quarterback over 20M/yr is the Falcons.
Many so easily forget that we HAD this QB they envision as taking the team to the promised land...and he didn't. Marino must really suck since he couldn't get a ring, right? Is it safe to say that Marino, much like as has been said about Tannehill, couldn't win the big one without good players across the roster? If not, why?
You realize that the reality of what you're saying is that GB should get rid of Rodgers and Seattle should get rid of Wilson before his his rookie contract is up. Also, how did the Pats win the SB with how much Brady makes?
No, I'm not saying they should get rid of those QBs. I'm saying that when they are paying those QBs that kind of money, they will be at a disadvantage to teams that are paying comparable QBs much less.
I'm 28. I grew up watching Griffey. I begged my dad to buy the baseball package so I could watch him here in Jersey. Even games that started at 10, I would stay up to watch Griffey and the Mariners. I loved those teams and loved watching him play. When he went to the Reds, I followed him there and started rooting for the Reds because of him. I remember being on the boardwalk spending hours at a stand trying to win a Griffey plaque, and I didn't give up until I won it. I had Griffey posters, jerseys, t-shirts, everything. I emulated him in little league. I loved the man. Still do. He is a Hall of Fame player and one of the best to ever put on a uniform, but he is not THE best.
These threads are awesome. Can't believe the BS that some people spout. It's why I get labeled a "Tannehill-lover" cause I argue with them.
