I was going to take him at 34 but figured the odds were on my side and Smith was flying under the radar.... So far 2 picks in and both picks people are offering trades on.
Im having trouble understanding something with our draft. We have to be at 53 players on our roster at the end. Typically...late round players are not guaranteed a roster spot, they have to beat out a vet through training camp. Since we have no practice squad to put players who dont make your roster, it seems like it puts an unreal amount of Value on players drafted in first three rounds..then last four. I dont see the benefit of trading back .... when you really arent getting later round players to develop. Your forced to cut them. How is this being taken into account when Voting happens?
It's easy... Because it's more chances to claim you found the gem or the one that slipped through the crack. It's just GML gambling. Plus, some people do it because they enjoy the draft process, not necessarily because it will better the team.
Smith was a nice pick. I thought about him but it was gonna be either Agholor or Perriman because I wanted a different skillsets then what I already had with Wallace, Latimer and Hartline
If you want to cut your later picks, that's on you. You're not forced to cut draft picks. It'd be silly to field a team without low cost, developmental options. I likely wouldn't vote for you as best in draft, team of the future, or possibly even best team/GM if you cut half of the guys who you drafted.
But how can you logically argue keeping a later round pick, who you have no idea if he would make practice squad..much less final roster. Add a practice squad and it solves the issue perfectly. Now you can enter developemental player into equation
Sure you do.. This league is like highschool... Everybody revisits the past every year... Some people (Todd) will reference it every month.
Because it is about what you would do. You're the one determining the final roster, so it seems pretty easy to argue whether they should be kept.
also..does anyone know how the practice squad counts against the cap? and the rules as to who can be placed on the practice squad?
I think its within 3 years and minimum contracts (and draftees) but anyone can your PS to their active roster.. Could be wrong
Hey don't be jelly just cause I got 4 rookie starters out of the 6th round and beyond. #BrandenOliver_AaronColvin_JustinBritt_RussellBodine
I thought high school got out earlier?? 7 hours is certainly within his rights but ridiculous all the same.
With the lack of LB talent in the draft, Kyle Van Noy can be had for a 2nd round pick. PM me if you're interested.
Came here to catch up on the days progress and find I'm still the last one who picked (and I picked from my classroom! ;p). Progress halters for the lose!
Yeah, to be honest I was able to work out a trade with Nappy while in class, and make the selection. It shouldn't be too hard to check on a break... Unless you're wanting to trade down then I can understand.
So is it a major faux pas to make my pick at 9:00:01 EST if Atlanta hasn't picked yet? It isn't that I want to be a jerk, you all know I've been Mr. Congeniality through the process, but we've had a day of multiple tornadoes here, with more on the way, so as you can assume it's been a busy day/night here at the station. I don't need to leave a bulletin, because I will be here as I come on to the clock, but I didn't know if should give him a grace period or not.
Sebo, be safe man. Honestly I would jump in your situation. If nothing quite as serious was going down I'd be a bit more lenient on waiting.
You can pick now. I apologize for taking a long time. I had a rough day in clinic and it took a toll on me.
