Were talking about the Guard class and yes there are always guys in the first round that will never be anything more then a guard. I didn't name any names ;)

And yah I'm thinking I might offer up WR Cole Beasley to move up from 105 and get out of the way of that Buffalo train if anyone's interested ;p

Scherff is the only offensive linemen that wouldn't tick me off to see Miami select at #14 if he were there. Such a fun nasty lineman to watch. Plays tackle like Dick Butkus played ILB.... like he thinks you just set his entire family on fire.

I can't see him making it there. I do see Collins as an option at 14 but I think Hickey would like to move down some and get him. Hickey likes versatile O-linemen. However I get the feeling Miami might go RB at 14 if they stay and that will make me sad.

because I still have a few starting holes to plug and Newsome unfortunately represents my last bit of trade ammo w/o dealing Luck. Messing up my time slot pretty much sealed my fate. I would've had the extra pick I needed w/o having to deal Newsome..... but, spilled milk and all.

I nearly traded Beasley [my favorite player in the draft, from Clemson no less] to Washington, so that should be all you need to know about how highly I feel about Newsome.

I have it the opposite almost. Youre entitled to your opinions of course...I like Scherff. I wouldnt have been upset taking him at 32 and giving that a whirl or even if Miami took him at 14 because I know he will be a good pro its just i question whether it will be at guard or tackle. I love his compete level. His questions arent just about his reach. Arm length is nice but id never be so shallow as to base my assessment of a player like him strictly based on that. To me he struggles vs speed rushers because teh technical aspect of his game is not as sharp as it needs to be. He plays on his heels too much and as a result is caught off balance occasionally. He also relies too much on his strength. What I have a hard time with in that regard is that a guy who did 23 reps as an OL shouldnt be relying only on strength. Arm length should work in his favor on that. He needs to get stronger if hes really going to be a road-grater type.

Clemmings I like and theres upside there but again, I see a RT. Could be wrong. Not trying to be critical of anyones picks, just giving my logic and opinions. Collins to me is more LT. His square build even projects many to say he will be an NFL guard.

After Perriman timed a 4.19/4.27 at his pro day he may have put himself squarely in round 1

Perriman shouldn't be in the first based on tape. However speed kills and that alone will likely get him in.

I thought Atlanta got a steal in Flowers. At least a ton of value. Same with Kendricks...Falcons are having a nice draft so far.

Perriman going in the 2nd is a huge get. Thought he was a first a month ago, sure of it now.

Haven't weighed in on much, but also thought Jags did well to get Fowler at 8, Cleveland didn't have to give up much at all to get a franchise QB, and Oakland has done a nice job as well.

He does drop balls. I'll give you that, but Julio did as well when he was at Alabama.

I likened Perriman to Julio earlier this year too.

Were going to have people reaching for day 3 talent at WR here shortly

I'm really glad I decided to go White instead of a DL because no way in hell I'd get my 2nd round target based on who was taken so far.

That's one reason I moved up for all 3 picks I had (Williams, Peat, and Agholor). They were IMO the only three weak links on my team and have now been shored up with top flight talent. All three IMO should be good pro's.

EDIT: Also it's the GML where WR is forever overvalued

Parker is not my favorite WR to be honest. People think he's a deep threat because he's tall, but I don't see an athletic wr when I see him. He plays slow and his height is his only real advantage. I made you an offer because frankly I did need a wr at some point but it was never going to be a serious offer because I didn't really want him. Beggars can be choosers I guess. I have guys like Agholor or Perriman projected as better pro's because I think they offer more. That's not to slam your pick, it's just I think he's being driven up draft boards by the media and mock drafts. I don't really think he's a top 50 player this draft.

Had a chance to see him play live once, watched a few other games of his the past couple years...thought he was a game changer. Impacted the way defenses designed their coverages and still produced. He completely changed the dynamic of L'Ville's offense once he returned, which is what really good, pro-caliber WRs should do. I don't know if he's going to be great, because he plays a little slow as you alluded to, but I do think he's athletic. The ability to go up and get the ball in the end zone will make him an asset at some capacity or another for a long time in the NFL...I think.

As a UCF grad, I saw Perriman a lot. Friendly with the guy who recruited him to UCF and coached him, and he always loved Breshad's potential. The aspect that worries me is that I didn't always think he was the best -- or even the second best -- WR on his own team in some games. That being said, Perriman's potential is pretty stellar, lots of upside but lots of room to grow, too.

A lot of guys took advantage of Williams this season...certainly a down year after 2013 for him. I'd have to double check, but pretty sure Parker did most of his damage on a couple players, with that 70-yarder to start the game coming off a missed assignment by the safety, not Williams.

Like I said, it's all opinion. When I'm ranking this years top wr's he's not one of my top 5 or 7. Many will disagree with that. I'd rather see Miami go OL or something completely unpopular and unsexy then go there in the real draft. To me he's round 2-3 prospect boosted significantly by measurables. It's just my opinion but I like Cooper. White, DGB, Strong, Perriman, Agholor and Smith more in no order.

Really? Well I respect your opinion but I have to disagree. I have him solidly at three. But from a pure talent standpoint I would put DGB ahead of him. Obviously you can't just disregard his red flags unfortunately.

The biggest thing I would say to this is that being an alumni of a school or having watched a player live does not make you an expert on a player. When I attended South Carolina we had Troy Williamson there. He was roasting CBs every week. Suffice to say it was not the same thing at the NFL level. And I've had a pretty decent eye for projecting players for as long as I can remember as well so i guess what I'm trying to say is that sometimes no matter how unbiased we try and be, sometimes being an alumni makes you more of a homer or makes your opinions more skewed then you realize when trying to evaluate players.

Also want to add I saw an interesting comp for Phil Dorsett; Antonio Brown. The speed is there but he certainly needs to be more focused with catching and improve his route tree. But as a Canes fan, he's one of my favorite prospects. Good job Jags.

People will sleep on Sammie Coates because he is raw but from what I've seen on tape he is at worst a very solid #2 receiver. Also, I love his Brandon Marshall-like blocking ability in the run game and screen game. hes got the speed to take the top off defenses, too

The best comparison I've seen for Coates is Mike Wallace. He can definitely stretch a defense vertically. He may have a better catch radius then Wallace though if have to look more at that. He's best at 9 routes, drag routes, and outs.

And thats exactly what I needed. I got a big, possession #1 in Floyd, a quick slot receiver in john brown, and a possession, route running slot receiver in amendola. I just needed a #2 who can be a deep threat to pretty much complete my receiving corps
