unless you plan on taking certain canadian quarterbacks or other positional players from up north you'll be ok, we'll cross that bridge when we get there

Kind of random but can someone tell me the last spread QB who made a successful transition to the NFL? I was thinking about it today and the only name I could think of was Cam but his system at Auburn wasn't exclusively spread. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Was having this convo with a friend the other day a actually. Does Drew Brees count? It was before the spread was in vogue, but it definitely wasn't a pro style offense either.

I realized ol Tannyhill and Kaep after I wrote that. Brees' entry into the NFL was before I was a fan so I wouldn't know that honestly. I had forgotten about Alex Smith (really not that hard to do) and then I had no idea what Flacco would've run at Delware of all places.

Was looking at the draft schedule to figure out roughly when to check back in to possibly make a trade up from 128 (offering 143). Then realized I better just pay attention cause schisno could just whammy the draft schedule and make all his picks at once.

So yah....Looking to move up into the 109-114 area dependant of course on my target being there. Offering up 143 in the 5th.

Brees, Flacco and Tannehill. Kaepernick to me is nonsense as a pro and was a zone read qb which may have spread concepts but isn't really a spread offense. Alex Smith wasn't a spread QB; he was a triple option QB. Again, not really a spread offense. Newton has had some success but also player in more of a zone read from what I remember. I like Cam though and would consider him more of a success then C-Kraep and Checkdown Smith. Dalton was another spread qb. Rodgers ran a pro style spread at Cal under Jeff Tedford meaning he was asked to make throws you more commonly see in the pros then in the one or two read styles of spread offenses many colleges feature. Tedford forced his qbs to go through 3-4 progressions as opposed to one read and run styles like a Vince young player in or one that featured many half field reads like Newton or Kaepernick had.

Brees and Rodgers were definitely the best so far to come from a spread offense but remember even they each took 3-4 years

Considering moving Dallas' 4th round pick from last year LB Anthony Hitchens (expected to replace Justin Durant this year). Depends on the offers (Probably move him for a high to mid 5).

Both Teddy bridgewater and Derek Carr played in a spread offense in college. I dont know that you can call them successful yet, but their transitions to the NFL were pretty good.

I underlined the key parts. "Rotational guy". "Limited role"..... and I couldn't care less who you fetch coffee for.

LOL @ you attempting to be a badass and thinking you actually know your stuff. Don't make me school you, kid.
Ehh screw it, let's Dikembe Mutombo your silly backfire of a post.

Your friend conveniently & superficially calls Davis a DE just b/c that's where he's listed on the depth chart in base defense, you know- since he's too small to play DT on run downs, genius. If you went by snap totals, however, Davis was technically a DEFENSIVE TACKLE!! That's why PFF grades him as a goddam DT. You know PFF right? -the site you quote as gospel since you apparently have no idea how to describe players in your own words? The greatest reason Davis stuck on Jacksonville's roster is b/c Gus Bradley found a home for him as a DEFENSIVE TACKLE in his "Lightning package", not because he was a standout DE.

Here's Davis's positional hierarchy: 1. pass rushing DT; 2. backup DE. So if you wanna highlight Davis as a "DE", you're highlighting a 3rd or 4th string player not worthy of a 7th round pick who hasn't started a game in 3 years. lulz. Nice attempt at circular logic BTW. But why take my word when everyone else under the sun can Mutombo your post for me.

I especially love this one below from PFF, you know- since they actually tracked all of Davis's snaps.
"Davis plays defensive tackle for Gus Bradley's defense".

Like I said from my first post, Davis is primarily an interior pass rush specialist. Now kiss my feet.

If you don't like being corrected, then get your s*** straight and don't try to publicly sell a player as a potential 10 sack edge rusher when he's a goddam nickel DT... and tell your friend thanks for the lousy advice. "edge guy" my ***.

Todd, it must be a miserable life always being correct. I mean, I could only imagine the anguish it would cause always being the smartest person in all of the internets. What could you possibly do to push yourself as a human being? To grow? Especially since you seem incapable of learning anything at all from anyone at all. But then again who would want to learn when wrestling is on television...

He was 1b on my list a few picks ago. If Jarrett hadn't been a perfect fit for my defense and if I hadn't taken Waynes at 9, I probably would have jumped on Golson. Watched for a long time at Ole Miss, even on good defenses, he popped. Great pick.

Add a couple more and they could be the Spirit Squad 2.0, unless you prefer they play up the 3 Count angle.

Bengals are on the clock at 4.96. Weighing a few options before making pick official within the next hour or so. Shoot a PM if you're looking to move up or are interested in moving a player for 4.96.

Greco is a solid all-around veteran guard who started 16 games for the Browns last year and finished +14.2 including +10.8 in run blocking.

He's not even worth a 7th, according to one GM who knows more than people who actually cover the players professionally.
