Free agent Wes Welker is visiting the Dolphins on Wednesday.

It's the soon-to-be 34-year-old's first-known visit of free agency. Welker spent three seasons in Miami from 2004-2006 before getting traded to the Patriots. He looked like a shell of his former self last season, losing his patented short-area quicks. Welker also has a concerning concussion history. If he were to return to Miami, Welker wouldn't be assured of a job behind top slot man Jarvis Landry.

He may not have the quicks anymore but he is a saavy multi-faceted WR .He knows how to get open.Would be depth signing IMO .If Jarvis is out for some reason Welker could fill in .Gibson is no longer here to fulfill that role.

Dolphins are still looking for a veteran WR after striking out with Jennings and Crabtree.

He needs to just retire already. I understand he has a love for the game and never wants to stop playing but at what price to his health?

No thanks. We've already got one concussion waiting to happen on offense, don't need two.

Way to miss the point completely...

You know, those studies out there... that say people who've suffered concussions previously are more likely to suffer another?

    Anyways... moving along..

Assuming Welker can be signed for a contract consistent with a backup, he could be very valuable as depth at the slot position, given Lazor's offense as it was run last year, and Tannehill's strengths.

Obviously you don't want to be running a short passing game offense primarily, have your short area (slot) receiver get hurt, and then have the entire offense fall off a cliff because there's nobody with any talent or experience on the bench to put into that position.

Even aside from the health issues, he plays in the slot, where we already have Landry. I'd much rather bring in a larger, outside WR.

I'd much rather have Greg Jennings. He has more in the tank and doesn't come with the injury risk. Welker is a shell of a shell of his former self. I don't see him making much of an impact. If Miami's going to add a veteran, he needs to be able to bring something to the table - as in, be able to produce like a WR2 or WR3 at worst. I don't want to see them add an over the hill veteran just for the sheer reason that he's a veteran.

Jennings has to want to play here too. It's a two way street in free agency.

He's id like to have Jennings as well, but brining in Wes to see how much wiggle he's lost does no harm, if it ain't much I'm sure he's ready for a reduced role, if his wiggle still is good enough, then he matches with Ryan's skillset and isn't that what this revamping of the offense all about..

Ugh, they are bringing in every washed out WR in hopes that one of them pans out so it justifies taking Collins at 14.....

draft a playmaker, playmakers win games....

I don't think our coaching staff when he was on our team knew how to use him to his fullest capabilities. He was basically a kickoff/punt return guy back then for us. Oh well. I would say that I wish we had been able to keep him in Miami when he was just reaching his prime years ago, but as the saying goes, "You can wish in one hand and crap in the other, and see which gets filled first."

I would take Welker back because he is a hall of fame caliber wr but if he takes care of himself he will be fine . I think signing Welker frees up a draft spot for defense mainly linebackers I don't have a problem with resigning Welker because he ha caught more passes in one year then our entire receiving corp has in four years.

That's one of the things that would make a sweet sports center story during Super Bowl week. Man would I love to experience that with our team one day.

How would bringing a vet WR eliminate us taking a receiver in the first three rounds?

This is a waist of the coaching staffs time. Welker needs to retire already. I don't think another team even looks at him.

    Slightly left of center
Unless we want to suffer the curse I put on Wes wanker to forever be looking across the field wondering what it would be like to play for a champion I really don't see the point. Unless it would be to humiliate him by cutting him after the third preseason game. That might be fun.

Just to be clear. Pats b4 wanker...3 of 4 Super Bowl With wanker 0-2. After wanker 1-0.

    Broncos w wanker. 0-1.

Just sayin... Don't piss me off! Its really bad juju!

Yeah. Welker ran his mouth off about us when we were the only team to give him his shot in the NFL. He's dead to me.

Finally. If we did sign him, to me it would mean we feel Landry can adequately move outside to Hartline's old X Receiver spot.

The biggest mistake of the Welker situation back then was not giving him a 1st round tender.
