Eh, it was just one of those years.

Get healthy and gear up for next year. Plenty to be optimistic about

Even if Whiteside doesn't get better (unlikely), a healthy Heat team is quite scary.

Whiteside is guaranteed to become better so long as Spoelstra isnt stubborn. The biggest mistake the past ten games is not playing an inside out game with Whiteside. The guy is our high percentage scorer, when everyone is injured you have to run the offense through him. Even when Bosh is back, when Bosh is at the bench taking a breather you start feeding Whiteside until Bosh is back on the court and then tun a balanced offense but dont get away from Whiteside.

Can't really play inside-out with Whiteside because he is a ball stopper. He just doesn't pass it when he gets it, he's going to shoot it 99% of the time when the ball gets to him inside. They need to develop that part of his game to make him a better player, as well as his post moves.
They also need shooters to play inside-out, and they've got none.

Next season I'd like to replace Chalmers (seriously can't deal with his dumbassery anymore) and Deng (too inconsistent) with some shooters. Play Dragic/Bosh PnR and PnP; Wade/Whiteside PnR; cuts to the basket with wade and the wings; and inside-out game with some perimeter shooters.

Ennis should continue to develop his 3-point shot, and work on his handles.
TJ should continue to develop his 3-point shot, and work on basket cuts from the perimeter.
Napier should develop his shot overall, and work on PnRs and PnPs to be backup PG.

Would like to replace Chalmers, Deng, Billiam and maybe even Birdman, depending on replacement. I'd keep Beasley, he's shown plenty of improvement.

I think that's something that can be worked on with Whiteside. He's too good to give up on the idea of playing inside-out with him.

Also, while the idea of upgrading from Chalmers and Deng would be great, I don't think it's realistic. Chalmers is signed for next year and Deng has a player option that I think he'll take. And while he may have been somewhat inconsistent, he still was pretty solid and would have to carry less of the load with Bosh back.

I want Deng back for sure... Chalmers.... everyone knows how I feel about him.. I won't miss him... Same with Henry Walker and Beasley, they can all go play china ball together.

I'm not sure about Deng. Too inconsistent and injury prone but he does have flashes of brilliance.

Oh yeah Whiteside can develop his game, I have no doubt. I was speaking mostly about this season. One offseason to work with Whiteside and polish his game is going to improve him a lot.

I don't think it's unfathomable to upgrade Chalmers and Deng, even if the latter picks up his player option. They would both have expiring contracts which are nice assets to have, and there are nice option to upgrade out there. If the Heat can get out of Chalmer's and Deng's roughly $14M salary numbers, and reinvest that into DeMarre Carrol and Danny Green, I think that would upgrade the team immensely.

Tough season injury-wise but a heck of a lot of positives came out of it.

We got a star in Whiteside. You outdid yourself on this one, Pat.

We got an All-NBA PG in Dragic, who will likely resign with us

We got ourselves an excellent SF in Deng, who will likely return under his player option.

Tyler Johnson appears to be a nice addition and bench player moving forward.

Ennis seemed to have picked it up at the end of the season.

Wade played damn well this season.

Add in Bosh, and hopefully Chalmers refinds his game and Birdman and Haslem contribute, and we have a shot at beating anybody. I'm more than ecstatic if our 5 next year is Dragic, Wade, Deng, Bosh, and Whiteside. Now we could use another 2 guard off the bench given Rio's inconsistency as well, but our lack of depth due to injuries killed us this year.

    Next year will be fun.

Aside from the injuries my biggest disappointment this year was Napier. He's a natural PG, but I thought he'd be a better shooter than he's been. I wonder if he just isn't a good enough athlete for this level.

Dragic is easily the most important off season storyline (aside from injuries and such). They can't afford to lose him.

Well that might well be the Thunder out of the playoffs. Westbrook got himself T'd up for saying something unpleasant to a ref. It's his 16th of the season and he's going be suspended for OKC's next game against the Blazers. So unless a miracle happens the Thunder will lose that one. They might well lose this one too. Westbrook's keeping it close, though, with 50 points so far!

    UPDATE:

    [IMG]Royce Young @royceyoung

Pacers beat the Thunder 116-104. Westbrook with 54-9-8 (and one costly technical).

You "predicted" a 36 win season?

Did you also predict that they would lose 167 games played from their top 8, have their projected starting lineup play 37 minutes all year, have Whiteside play with Bosh for less than 100 minutes, and that Bosh himself would almost DIE from a blood clot?

If you predicted all those things..nice prediction. If not...nice hatin'.

    Not always wrong...

I did predict the exact number of rings for the Heat in "the big three" era, I knew James was coming home 6 months before he was a FA. And before you call it anything remember I'm a Knicks fan so if I was really tossing around sh-t and hoping it would stick I would've forecasted him to NY.

And now I may have nailed the exact Heat win total, the reasoning isn't of any significance as I'm a results oriented individual.

Now, let's not pretend I'm puffing my chest out about a few predictions gone right....I'm simply disproving any notion that I have been "wrong for 6 years"

Wait a minute. You "Knew" Lebron was going back to middle earth 6 months in advance?

But..my point remains...are you bragging that you bet the #3 horse in Race 8 at Santa Anita, because his name is similar to your cat's and he came in at 16-1 ...so therefore...you are a genius?

You...were...WRONG...you just happened to be right, by accident. (if you were, I didn't see the the prediction of your win total.).

Speaking of the Knicks Greg Monroe spent the day refuting Frank Isola's report that hes a done deal to NY. Personally, I dont want him for max money but I do want him. There are a lot of similarities in his early career style and skill set and results to Pau Gasols including the guy running the show. It could be a nice frontline with him and Melo and Okafor

My take from afar is Spo is what he is, or the league is what it is, crappy EC this yr and we did not make the dance.

Coaching in the league is a bit overrated, more or less don't alienate the talent, and have high quality talent, to begin with or be Charlotte.

So as bad as the Knicks and Heat are this year lets all take a minute to laugh at the Nets. Tanking: you're doing it all wrong!

1). They swapped picks with the Hawks for this years draft as part of the Joe Johnson deal. Um, yeah, the hawks ended up beings one of the top 3 teams in the league this year.
2). They gave picks to Boston in the pierce/KG deal. Boston made the playoffs this year without those ageless wonder while the nets...have neither left on their roster and didn't get squat in return for either.
3). Jason Kidd coached a Parker-less Bucks team to a better record then the Nets. A team with Lopez, Williams and Johnson had a worse record then the bucks.
4). Billie King is somehow still the GM through this all.
5). Prohkorov hasnt been able to get 2B for the team like he wants because the payroll is high, contracts are unmoveable and the team doesn't even own their own first til 2018 or 19.

Isiah has GOT to be involved somehow. He simply has to.

For anyone still complaining about Spo, I challenge you to watch 82 games coached by Randy Whittman next year.

We need 3 point shooting. Bosh/McBob if Mcbob is still here, which I'm not convinced of) will help, but we need a wing player that can hit around 40% from 3.

Wonder if Wade might opt out again to help us out and 2 for $20 or something like that.

I don't think that would do much. I'm pretty sure the Heat will over the cap unless they trade away some guys and Deng opts out; or Deng opts out AND Dragic doesn't re-sign.

    Good stat from Tim Reynolds:

"Wade this season: 21.5 ppg, 299 assists, 219 rebounds. Only other players to do that in '14-15: Harden, Steph, Kyrie, LeBron, Blake, Russ."
