The NY Jets are happy to welcome the following UDFAs to our roster/practice squad:

J.J. Nelson, WR from UAB and owner of a 4.28 40 time. He's someone we expect to be a dynamic Return specialist for us.

Malcolm Agnew, RB from Southern Illinois and former Oregon Stater. A runner who makes up for his lack of size with explosion and great hands.

Geremy Davis, WR from UConn. He has a huge frame and great catching radius.

Michael Orakpo, EDGE player from Texas State and brother of Brian Orakpo. He'll make an excellent "Joker", lining up all along the line and acting as a down lineman or stand up rusher depending on the situation.

Jon Feliciano, G from Miami. He's a versatile, hulking lineman who will provide invaluable depth.

Max Garcia, C from Florida. A potential draft pick, we are happy to grab him on the open market and have him backup perennial Pro-Bowler Nick Mangold.

Quandre Diggs, CB from Texas. Another potential draftee, he has the makings of a Brandon Boykin type Nickel in the NFL.

Won't bore everyone with in-depth scouting report on each player we sign in UDFA, but the Bengals did want to make note of the addition of WR Tyrell Williams, who we believe will be selected early on Day 2 in May.

--Fastest 3-cone drill in the country (timed at Oregon State Pro Day)
--17 YPC average through four-year career.
    --4.42 second 40-yard dash, 39.5" vert

Pros: Williams (6-3, 204) has everything you could want from a WR, with his only notable downside being that he hasn't proven his skill set against top competition. Out of DII Western Oregon, he has at least done exactly what you expect to do at that level: dominate. Totaled 2,729 receiving yards and 21 TDs in four years, and averaged 17+ YPC in each of his past two seasons in school. ...All-Conference in track (200). ...Experience playing outside and in slot. ...Regarded as likeable and charismatic, he's considered a good teammate as well and teammates respond positively to him,so that's another plus when factoring everything else in.

Cons: Level of competition, complexity of offensive system (ran full route tree, well, however) and admittedly needs to work on dealing with press coverage (something he didn't struggle with in school, again because of competition or lack thereof). Must become more consistent in NFL

His highlights are just insane, as they should be vs. DII guys. But even a one-game sample, as linked here, is enough to demonstrate why we're so high on him (and why we think we got a steal after admittedly overlooking him in rounds 5, 6 and 7): Speed, fluidity, aggressive as he attacks ball, very willing blocker, crisp route runner. The cons -- like consistency -- are too. But he's worth a look in camp.

--TE Brian Parker, a Great Dane with some pretty legit highlights, is an intriguing prospect as well. Based on metrics and the pSparq and z-scorem no other TE in this class comes close to him physically. Based on potential alone he deserves a shot to make the roster.

Are practice squads still being done? And if so, how to go about doing it?

You'll make your 53 man cuts before we do practice squad stuff.

I'll post some dates/deadlines tonight for the rest of the GML year.

The HoustonTexans welcome UDFA's to Training camp to compete for roster spots:

    RB – Akeem Hunt, 5’10 / 183lbs / 4.36 40 time – Purdue
Hunt is a legitimate triple-threat skill player with blazing speed, has the ability to carry the ball around the perimeter, catch the ball out of the backfield, line up in the slot and is a proven kick returner with 99-yard and 100-yard kickoff returns on his resume.
    Led Boilermakers in 2014 with 949yds, 6TD’s / 2035 yds, 11TD’s (4 years at Purdue)

    RB – Trey Williams, 5’7 / 195lbs / 4.45 40 time - Texas A&M
Features a devastating jump-cut, one of the best "make-you-miss" types in this draft, has speed to turn the corner can be used as a mismatch weapon from the backfield or slot, was a 3 year kick returner at A&M.
    2014 – 560yds, 7TD’s on 81 carries / 1343 yds, 18TD’s on 204 carries (3 years at A&M)

    TE – James O'Shaughnessy, 6’4, 248lbs / 4.68 40 time – Illinois State
Athletic Basketball tight end with plus foot quickness allowing him to stretch the seam and challenge vertically, good concentration, hands catcher and vertical ability to compete for balls. His blocking is a work in progress, but the Texans love his speed and work ethic.
According to NFL.com he could end up being a highly productive Day 3 draft pick if a team utilizes his talent properly.

Bengals announce the signing of QB Chris Bonner out of CSU-Pueblo.

After Winston, Mariota and Petty, Bonner was the QB that excited us the most of any QB in this class. A DII prospect, the biggest concern for him going forward is adjusting to level of competition (among other things, such as forcing some passes and not always putting touch on passes).

But there are a ton of reasons why we're excited about landing him. He has the physical tools -- 6-7, quick feet, strong arm, compact delivery -- and has tremendous feel in the pocket. He has experience in a pro-style offense. And he's a winner, guiding a team that lost 4 WRs to a national championship this past season.

There will obviously be a pretty steep learning curve for Bonner as he learns to adjust to a completely different level of play, but he'll get plenty of time to develop under Drew Brees.

--We'd also like to welcome in OL Allen Barbre, a late addition in free agency who will step in as our top backup at RT and either guard spot. Injuries derailed a promising 2014 campaign but he's expected to start for the Eagles at RT in 2015. Chip Kelly is awfully high on him, so if the mad scientist is a fan, we are at least inclined to take a look. Pretty excited about getting a capable NFL starter as a reserve and for only $510,000 at this point in the league.

The Houston Texanswelcome one last UDFA's to Training camp to compete for roster spots:

    RB – Malcom Agnew, 5’9 / 207lbs / 4.57 40 time – SouthernIllinois
Explosive off the snap, gets into high gear quickly, has the juice toget to the corner, capable pass-catcher with instant "go" aftercatch, promising change of pace backup with the ability to inject energy into adrive. Agnew immediately made his presence felt at Southern Illinois by leadingthe team in rushing in both 2013 & 2014 (820), missed the final four gamesof his senior year after suffering a season-ending ankle injury, prior to theinjury he ranked in the top 20 nationally in rushing, all-purpose yards andtouchdowns.
Has NFL pedigree, his father, Ray Agnew, played 11 seasonsas a defensive tackle for the New England Patriots, New York Giants and St.Louis Rams.
    2014: 820 yards, 10TD’s on 136 carries / 2400 yards and 22TD’s in 4 years (2 @ Oregon State)
