As usually I stay away from this place during the off season and it is my main source of news for my beloved team. I know we got Suh and got rid of Wallace. Other than that I don't really know what went on this off season. I see what looks like an easy schedule to me that I am excited about! Please hook a brother up with some cliff notes and refrain from comments i will ignore like try reading or researching. I am not incapable of researching something but some of you know all of this off the top of your head and can sum up the off season in one paragraph with hardly any effort. Whoever you are, I thank you in advance.

lol, Either you believe in magic and fairy tales or you've never actually read the posts on this site before.
FinD and FinO decided to quit flirting, get hitched, and join a commune of Orange pickers in Ocala. They're naming their first child after Cash. And Todd.
The player transactions are well stated above. Here are some other things people might not think to note but are important nonetheless: 1. Mike Tannenbaum is now in charge of everything. He'd previously been a consultant on implementing analytics and sports science/technology (since Hickey, despite his claims, is clueless on this stuff). Tannenbaum impressed Steve Ross so much that Ross essentially made him his avatar inside the building. Ross is still in charge, and I think he showed that by probably being the main driver behind signing Ndamukong Suh, but Tannenbaum is the guy that makes Ross' visions come true and manages everyone else. Tannenbaum is, in a word, ballsy. You get the feeling he's one of those fast and loose, no dream is too big kind of guys. He's also a wheel and deal kind of guy. Loves to get on the phone and talk trade. 2. Dennis Hickey has become sort of a lieutenant to Tannenbaum, and I'm not entirely sure Hickey minds. He gets to focus on player evaluations and that's what he likes. 3. Philbin on the other hand seems to have taken a demotion when it comes to off season decision-making. There have been definite signs he's not even being kept in the loop. The whole tiresome explanation of why the Dolphins won't be interested in a certain player because "Philbin wouldn't like him" is no longer a thing. The front office people almost don't care what he thinks. They tell Philbin what they think he needs to know, and they ask him his opinion only when they really want it. The Suh signing said it all, perfect microcosm of everything that has changed. Suh arrived at the building to meet Steve Ross, Mike Tannenbaum, Matt Higgins and some others. There Suh is in pictures signing his contract, posing with Tannenbaum and Ross (no Dennis Hickey present). Then they have a press conference with Suh and Ross sitting at a table flanked by Hickey and Tannenbaum. Where's Joe Philbin? Literally in the audience with members of the press. That's a thing that actually happened. 4. May be noteworthy, may not be, but while no changes have been made to the coaching staff (which is still under Philbin's purview), they have seemingly made a decision to simplify the defense and make it easier for young players to play in.
Thank all of you very much for the relevant posts and the funny ones. I forgot how much I have missed this place. I think I think that every time I come back near close to draft day and when I come back close to pre-season. I guess I only have one question now. How many draft picks are we sitting on now with the trades?
We intentionally signed a crack-pipe-toting, loose-gun-slinging, balls-on-the-table-slamming, maverick of a VP, who has done more in this off-season than any of us probably could have ever imagined... I'm typing with one hand btw...
Yup, Tannenballs has been breaching like a humpback on Viagra. Philbin looks like a caretaker paid in hashish. And every exciting draft pick becomes unavailable as soon as I set my sights on them... Just like every other woman in my life.
I actually agree with your view of the roles of Tannebaum, Hickey, and Philbin. Of course it is the role Philbin now has that makes me think this is going to be another mediocre season for this team. If the individuals above Philbin have basically made him a non-factor in player personnel decisions, you have to expect that the players probably also see that Philbin is no longer one of the decision makers on the team. I don't think many of the players are big Philbn fans to begin with and if this coming season starts going south, I really don't see the team stepping up to try and save Joe's job. I see a lot of good things happening with this team in the future, 2016 and beyond. I just wish Ross had let Philbin go after last season and the new HC could have already been in place to implement his new system starting this season.
Finnegan officially retired... retirement speech made memorable by taking a parting shot at Andre Johnson Shelley Smith has signed with Denver Just recently the Dolphins signed some O line depth with Linkenbach and McGlendon. We flirted with every FA veteran wide receiver, before signing Jennings. Oh and we finished a close 2nd in the Jimmy Graham sweepstakes... that was a thing.
Our highly regarded DL coach left to be the DC of the Jets. We hired Terrell Williams as the new DL coach. He was the Raiders DL coach the past three seasons. He was originally going to be the DL coach for the Florida Gators but held that post for about one month before Miami came calling. Prior to Oakland, he had been a DL coach in college at several schools, most recently, surprise surprise, at Texas A&M from 2010-2011. He was a college NT at East Carolina back in the mid 90s and was a pretty good college player.
It was 2nd, but it was not a close 2nd. The Dolphins called, were interested, made an offer, it wasn't competitive. Those discussions likely set the stage for the Stills trade that happened later.
