Everyone is excited about this draft Gone are the days of the head scratching picks and deals. There is a new Sherrif in town and he has a reputation for wheeling and dealing .Will we trade up ,trade down or stay still .Which players are in play for the Dolphins .

Here is Barry Jackson take on the eve of the first day of Draft Day .

    http://miamiherald.typepad.com/sports-buzz/

There are several Cane players who are in play. While we are waiting for the draft take a guess at which Cane players we will draft and name the players you would like to see us draft.Personally I would like us to draft Kevin Johnson who would be a good fit for our defense.

Here is a list compiled by Barry Jackson of the players who have visited

    DRAFT VISITS
Teams are allowed to bring in 30 non-local players for visits, and we ultimately ended up confirming 28. (Three of Miami’s first four draft picks visited last year.) The updated list:
    ### Potential first-round picks: receivers DeVante Parker (Louisville), Nelson Agholor (Southern California) and Breshad Perriman (UCF); cornerbacks Jalen Collins(LSU) andKevin Johnson (Wake Forest) and Marcus Peters (Washington); LSU offensive tackle/guard La’El Collins; Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon. Reports say Clemson defensive end Vic Beasley visited.
    ### Potential second-round picks: Defensive tackles Jordan Phillips (Oklahoma), Carl Davis (Iowa) and Xavier Cooper (Washington State), Connecticut cornerback Byron Jones, Utah cornerback/safety Eric Rowe, Auburn receiver Sammy Coates, Ohio State receiver Devin Smith, Mississippi State linebacker Benadrick McKinney, Oregon left tackle Jake Fisher. (There was a report that former Missouri receiver Dorial Green-Beckham visited, but that’s unconfirmed.)
###Potential mid-round picks: Guards Jarvis Harrison (Texas A&M) and Ali Marpet (Hobart); linebackers Jake Ryan(Michigan) and Ramik Wilson (Georgia); Maryland receiver Stefon Diggs.
    ### Potential later-round picks: Minnesota safety Cedric Thompson, Maryland defensive tackle Darius Kilgo,Bowling Green linebacker Gabe Martin, Tennessee State offensive guard/tackle Robert Myers.
    ### Potential free agents: Boston College quarterback Tyler Murphy and USC receiver George Farmer.

If no Parker/White, I say trade down and grab Dorsett/D. Smith and a LB (Jake Ryan? Eric Kendricks?). Not a fan of taking a RB in the first round unless they're an AP or Emmitt Smith. Gurley looks special but his health is a major concern. Gordon looks like the safer pick but is he first round worthy? Waynes would be a nice pick, but if he's gone we should wait on CB til 2nd round, maybe we can pick up a third at some point and wait then. After Waynes the CBs start to look indistinguishable. So depending on who's there, its BPA or trade down for quantity.

I think Peters is the best CB in this years draft. I just don't think they will risk taking him at 14 because of his issues in school last year.

Hopefully if Gurley is not an option for them at 14. They will trade down and get more picks and Peters will be a more realistic option for them later in the first round. I think Peters can become an all pro type CB in the NFL.

Peters is a terrific talent at CB, but with his character issues I doubt Miami takes him.

Unfortunately I agree his character issues will probably prevent the Dolphins from drafting him. Especially after just going through what they did with Jordan.

I just think that whichever team is smart enough to draft him will be getting the best CB in the draft. He is the type of player and talent that the Patriots will probably decide to draft and he will end end up being a pro bowl corner for them for the next decade.

I think God has more important issues to worry about than who the Dolphins draft in the first round.

I beg to differ with you on Gurley. I think he is exactly the player this team needs to become a more effective offense.
To me, he is the best offensive player in this entire draft.

Hey Crunch, can you designate this thread as a spoiler or no spoiler thread? Some people don't like the television reveals spoiled ahead of time by phone updates, and some people are getting it through their phones ahead of the television reveals. It would be nice to have two threads devoted to both methods of discussion.

Yeah with no one to block for him in a deep rb class. It is the dolphin thing to do after all.

Actually the OL is quite effective when it comes to run blockng. That is the reason Miller was able to rush for over a thousand yards last year.

It is pass blocking where they come up short and I agree they need to upgrade the guard positions in an effort to improve the pass blocking.

I just don't think you take a lower rated offensive lineman in the first round if you have the opportunity to take what could be the best offensive player in the draft.

Finsiders just had a mockdraft and their consensus pick was Todd Gurley.

Not to high on Todd Gurley, that torn ACL is a problem.

Does not surprise me in the least since I feel he is the best offensive player in the draft. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he doesn't eventually turn out to be the best player taken in the entire draft.

I just hope he last until the 14th pick and that the Dolphins draft him if he is still on the board.

I suspect Gurley will go earlier than our pick.I am pretty sure we will get a RB later on perhaps Duke Johnson for an all UM backfield.

IMO the Phins will target 3 players @14 (if they don't trade up), Devante Parker, Vic Beasley and Todd Gurley, this is my gut feeling. If all 3 are gone, they'll trade back.

Don't think Waynes is a target for them with that pick, and with La'el Collins out of the picture, I don't think any other player that will realistically be there, will entice them much.

Unfortunately I agree that Gurley will probably be gone by the time the Dolphins pick in the first round. He is just the player I like the best in the entire draft.

If he is gone, they should try to trade back and take a CB with their pick in round one. I look at the CB's they now have on the roster and I just see trouble. Grimes is getting older and his play declined as the season went along last year.

I have no confidence that any of the other CB's they now have on their roster can be effective staters in the NFL. I like Peters the most at CB, but as was noted earlier, character issues will probably prevent them from taking him in the first round.

Waynes likely will will be drafted before 14, so if they are concerned about drafting Peters and they decide to draft a CB in the first round, it will likely be Johnson.

I think the top three WR's will be off the board before 14 and I really think they can get a quality WR in the second round if they feel that position is still a need.

As far as drafting Duke Johnson to pair with Miller. They are basically the same type back and drafting Johnson will not provide them with the big back who can get the tough yardage on third down or down by the goal line. I loved Johnson at UM, but I really have no interest in a Miller, Johnson tandem with the Dolphins.

Where is Amari cooper projected to go in this draft? I ask because i don't watch college football so i don't know any. College players. But since i live in Akabama i know he is good therefore i would be happy with him. But you guys know better than i do when it comed to college players so i digress.

He appears to be an excellent cover corner and he is not afraid to come up and put a big hit on the opposing teams ball carrier.

Other than the questions about his character, I'm not aware of where his weaknesses are suppose to be at the corner position. Any information you can provide to areas of concern regarding his play at CB is appreciated.

I have only seen him play a few times in his career and not at all last year because he was kicked off the team.
I liked him in the few games I saw him play, but perhaps you have some information on him I'm not aware of.
