Yeah, I'll feel better for sure if they get Mathis (I think you only need one 5th though since the Eagles are probably cutting him otherwise). You don't want to go into the season hoping Turner fills one OG spot and the other is filled with a low round pick or a questionable vet, especially given the D-lines we'll face in our division.

What are the Phins.com draft gurus saying about the 2nd round pick? I know nothing about the guy and would love to hear their take. I've been through the thread but haven't seen anything from any of them, guessing they are keeping their comments in club maybe.

Doubtful that happens, we already traded with the Eagles to get two 5th round picks. If we wanted Mathis he would have been included in that trade.

lol classic Jets. Not a fan at all of Petty. Very easy college system with limited reads. Doubt he amounts to anything.

He's not good enough to be a starter right away. A project, good prospect but we'll see what he can be in 2016..

Honestly where they rank doesn't matter. Fact is no guard left in the draft is a Week 1 starter.

He was originally a guard. Asu converted him to LT. Not a big reach at all.

To address the hole at guard was in the second round.. stay put and draft Morse instead of trading down.

Bingo. He is a Guard, no position switch there, 6-4 305 lbs and very athletic/mobile for what the team wants on the OL. Good player and a very good fit, regardless of where some draft service had him ranked.

Tre' Jackson would have been a week 1 starter for us. He'll have a 10 year NFL career. Book it.

I'm ok with Douglas but I was pulling for Tre' Jackson. Douglas fits the profile of what the team wants on the OL in terms of movement skills and was a good pick, but I prefer the power OGs like Jackson.

WEAKNESSES Finesse, left guard-only prospect. Waits on action to come to him. Isn't a consistent enough block finisher. Must convert weight-room strength to play strength. Gives ground against bull-rushers. Struggles to consistently redirect when defender gets to his edge. Will get cross-faced. Shows very little fire in his play and looks like he's going through the motions. Gets caught catching rather than punching. Fails to generate push at the point of attack. Feet will stall and he doesn't sustain blocks for very long.

Wow this sure sounds like a great prospect.Good thing we have philbin to light a fire on his ***!

    Could not agree more.
2 players I believe will be impact right where we were. Morse was one.
It is what it is though.
I'm completely used to dealing with head scratching drafts from the Phins at this point.

Of course the Patriots take Tre' Jackson three picks before Miami. Jackson would have been a nice addition for the Dolphins - a probable starter in year one.

I know that. We are converting him back to guard though.

I disagree that it wasn't a reach though.

Why? Because NfL.com says so? I can post a ranking of him being protected as a 3-4 round pick.
