He probably wants to start at left tackle and get to his next contract ASAP.. Not Guard. No competition. No state income tax.

I would like to get him. And i agree we should have drafted him in the 5th round. If he turns out to be guilty cut him you only wasted one late round pick.

I haven't watched much film on Parker, just highlights. But from what I read a lot of scouts projected him as a true #1, you don't think so?

The difference here being those guys were acquired before they committed atrocities. It's a different ballgame if you sign a guy under suspicion or after he's been in trouble. This is a premeditated double murder of a woman and her unborn child. You'd be crazy to draft him before he's even spoken to police or taken a paternity test.

If it ended up that you signed a murderer, you can bet the team would (rightfully) take a beating, their moral fiber assailed and advertisers would pull out. It would be a monumental embarrassment and an injustice to we the fans. I would definitely be calling for heads to roll.

Way too much to risk IMHO.

This is a pretty bold statement, but talent-wise, I think I agree with you. What the offense would still be lacking, though, is better coaching and some experience playing together in the same system. So I'd say if we get La'el Collins we'd have a playoff-caliber offense for sure, but not championship-caliber, IMO, not immediately, at least.

While I do think he wants to play tackle, it wouldn't be that bad of a move to start out at guard while learning under some great vets in Albert and Pouncey, then transition to tackle in a few years. It would take some of the pressure off him, as he probably knows a lot of guys who start at tackle as rookies struggle early in their careers. It would also showcase some versatilty for his next contract. Doesn't seem like a bad idea to me...

    Most teams have ex-LSU players!

Saw footage on the local news here in New Orleans of Lael with Rex Ryan.

So if he's later found guilty we cut him. Don't see how giving him the benefit of the doubt is a problem.

    1. He doesn't need to publicly proclaim his innocence. How does that help him or change anything?
    2. He has a lawyer because he's not an idiot. This idea that you don't need a lawyer when dealing with police investigations if you're innocent is completely idiotic. Cops can and will take advantage of you and most people don't know their rights. Better safe than sorry.

So you keep him even if he's charged? You're keeping him throughout the murder trial?

It just sends a bad message.

You also risk pissing him off. Remember, he warned all 32 teams not to draft him. Taking hostages is not a good way to start a relationship.

I was never a big fan, but that's irrelevant. He "could" develop into a #1...certainly not impossible, but I'm not banking on it before the first mini camp.

If there is one coach out there capable of charming themselves into the good graces of a player, it's Rex Ryan. Thankfully, he coaches the Bills, who reside in a **** hole. I don't think any player would want to go play in Buffalo. Getting Collins as an UDFA is going to be quite the coup for one team. I don't recall a player of his magnitude ever being an UDFA. Hopefully Miami sells him on being their future LT, after being groomed inside for 1-2 years.

I bet wishes his agent didn't say that, because it screwed him from re-entering the draft in 2016.

Isn't the money fixed for him?

If so, a Florida team will get him the most money.

If he's set on tackle then on the one hand we can't offer that, on the other hand we can offer him one of the best left tackles in the league to learn from.

If it is really just between the Bills and Dolphins it is a no lose situation. If Collins chooses the Bills he is obviously an idiot and we don't want him anyway. What sane person wants to spend their time in gloomy Buffalo when Mr. Money Bags Ross is offering a mansion in South Florida.

Some teams have none. Many have one or two. Only three teams have three former LSU players. Miami, Cincy and Arizona. No teams have more than three.

I'm starting to think we are one of the frontrunners here:

    1) Tannenbaum's connections with Priority Sports, the firm which Collins is represented by.
    2) Climate similar to that of his hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
    3) Relative proximity to his hometown, which is also the location of his alma mater.
    4) Three ex-LSU players, Kelvin Sheppard, Jarvis Landry, and Anthony Johnson, with whom he seems to have a good relationship, are on the team.
    5) No state income taxes.
    6) Young, ascending team on the cusp of playoff contention.
    7) Automatically comes in as the starting LG and backup LT. No pressure as a rookie to have to start at LT, a position that a lot of rookies have trouble with. He can ease into his tackle role by playing guard while learning from Albert until he is ready. It also showcases his versatility for his second contract.

We have a lot of good points going for us, IMO.
