Because the NFL hasn't made a move to punish the Pats since the AFC Championship game until after the Super Bowl and draft, I doubt we'll see any significant punishment if any at all.

The NFL likely pressured Wells to publish that he had no definitive conclusion in order to protect themselves and the Pats. The Colts and Seahawks would have a reason to sue and fans would feel cheated. This is the best case scenario for the NFL.

Anyone who thinks this whole thing will motivate the Pats and make them play with more of a purpose and a chip on their shoulder is a worried, scared wuss.

    This report is awesome.

    you bellowed?

i know you have an affinity for me, its OK. i like it when you scream my name.

I said it before the superbowl, if it comes out that they are guilty, then I wont defend them.

i mean, it's not like we lost a draft pick for tampering with a HOF coach from another team or anything :wink2:

The only two things I would like to know is: what were the measurements before the game? asking the opposing team is like asking the person who rearended you in a car accident how fast they were going. the number will always be lower than actual.

second: why would it take some no name safety to recognize this over all these years? there have been multiple dudes over the years who have touched Tom Brady's balls. :shifty:

all in all. i want to hear what Brady has to say. this should be interesting.

The rest of this post is you getting ready to turn the bold into a lie.

Read the report, he's guilty. Wells' attempt to soften the blow doesn't change the fact he's guilty as sin.

From page 21 of the report -

"Similarly, although Tom Brady appeared for a requested interview and answered
questions voluntarily, he declined to make available any documents or electronic information
(including text messages and emails) that we requested, even though those requests were limited
to the subject matter of our investigation (such as messages concerning the preparation of game
balls, air pressure of balls, inflation of balls or deflation of balls) and we offered to allow Brady‟s
counsel to screen and control the production so that it would be limited strictly to responsive
materials and would not involve our taking possession of Brady‟s telephone or other electronic
devices. Our inability to review contemporaneous communications and other documents in
Brady‟s possession and control related to the matters under review potentially limited the
discovery of relevant evidence and was not helpful to the investigation."

It was also stated by the science end of the investigation that environmental factors alone cannot account for the level of inflation, in addition to the above mentioned, very incriminating texts, about inflation/deflation, needles, balloons, stress, gifts and rewards, and Tom Brady.

    The report in full.

Reading Brady's statement made by his lawyer I have got to say, Roger Goodell has had an epic year last year. This guy continues to make mistakes. With the Ray Rice situation and other nonsense and even this.

I really don't care if the Patriots are permanently banned from the league and forced to move their team to Canada... But if Goodell was informed prior to the Colts/Pats game about the issue of footballs, why didnt they warn the Patriots before the game and say hey cut that out, we have been told something is up with your footballs, cut it out before this becomes a big story. Instead they kept quiet, some no name safety intercepted the ball, told the Colts look how soft this is, and the mess erupted. Great job Goodell on continuing to throw some dirt on the league's integrity and embarassing football fans everywhere. You suck.

Patriots fans read from the same playbook. Every Patriots fan has been bringing this up lately! Because Miami's pursuit of Don Shula for which they were punished appropriately decades ago has anything to do with this.

Anyway McLovin, I really do enjoy your side of the discussion, that's why I was asking about you even if I did want to rub it in a little... :shifty:

If you read the report, you will see any questions about measurements and scientific data have been effectively put to rest by the Wells report.

I wonder if people see a difference between 'Corporate cheating' - early negotiations etc. which break the rules of the setup of teams and 'On-field Cheating' which break the rules of the game itself. Whilst I would strongly argue against any cheating at all, I think I'd acknowledge a difference between the two.

It's kind of like robbing a bank for a million getting caught and doing the time without really doing the time just being put on probation after using a free public defender. But having the million stashed so you still get to spend it. Not a bad situation making it well worth it.

I just read the report, and I think reading it, in its entirety paints a very different light on the situation. As with the Incognito-Martin Well's report, this was very enlightening in creating a wide view shot of the whole event. Reading from Patriot sites, they're seemingly making it out to be a witch hunt, when clearly Wells provides a thorough accounting of all the events that took place before, during, and after the AFC championship game.

The lesson learned? When doing something wrong, don't leave a paper trail. In fact, behave as though there is heat around the corner and proceed accordingly. Those two boobs involved in doctoring the footballs are case and point. Brady, meanwhile, was smart enough to discuss deflation of the footballs in private or by phone calls, never referring to the issue in text. Why those two idiots decided to hand over their phones, is beyond me... Criminals must be inherently stupid. If you're clearly guilty, handing over evidence that implicates you is beyond stupid. Better to withhold that evidence and appear "guilty" than to hand it over and be proven guilty. Without those text messages, the entire thing looks suspicious, but the damage control would of been manageable.

One thing I'm curious about, is Belichick and Brady's relationship. When BB gave his press conference, he seemed very sincere in not knowing anything about it. Even holding a press conference to specifically discuss the issue, which is completely out of the ordinary. He reference his conversation with Brady too, in which he claims Brady denied knowing anything about it. I can't help but wonder if Brady would be so brazen as to lie to BB's face. I have to believe BB wouldn't have put on a dog and pony show like that if Brady told him the truth.

Let's say he gets a 4 game suspension. That means he would miss Steelers, Bills, Jags, and Cowboys. They could conceivably win the Jags and start the 1st 1/4 season at 1-3. Let's hope its a eight game suspension and he comes back after the Miami game.

The more I think about this report, the more I feel like the league has a very legitimate basis to suspend Brady for the entire year, and possibly level punishment towards the entire franchise. Even though the pro Patsie major news outlets are not reporting on it, you can bet your *** the league is very aware of the portions of the report that indicate the Patriots and specifically Tom Brady did not cooperate fully. That coupled with Brady's bold faced lies, along with Kraft's smarmy demand for an apology cannot be sitting well with Goodell. Historically the league has come down hard on players who have been found to not be honest with their investigations.

I guess what I'm saying is neither extreme would surprise me.

I'd love to see the Pats punished hard...but I also feel like if they do poorly due to Brady being suspended or something, then any wins over them won't be considered legit. I can already imagine gloating to my Pats friends about wins, and it will be all the excuses about not having Brady, blah blah blah. It just won't be satisfying, like stomping them WITH Brady would be.

The two employees had to turn over their phones as they were NE Patriot property which in turn is NFL property. If I'm one of the other 31 owners I'm calling Goodell and telling him he better not let them off. If I'm Tom Benson, the owner of the Falcons or Browns I'm definitely going after Goodell and telling him that Brady better get 4 games minimum for cheating on the field of play. That organization spits in the face of the NFL time and again. Time for the other 31 teams who pay Goodell to put a stamp on Kraft.
