No surprise. I'd deal him for a OG in a heartbeat.

If they haven't already shopped him from one side of the country to the other they are fools.

Odds are Matt Hazel will beat him out anyway.

He has a decent amount of talent. I'm disappointed that he didn't develop into the player I thought he would become; whether it be because the coaching staff(s) never gave him a shot, or due to Matthews' own work ethic and attitude issues that have been brought up before.

    Oh well.

If Philly is desperate enough to unload Evan Mathis' contract, they could take a flyer on Rishard. Not only is he almost a decade younger than Mathis, but he's ridiculously athletic, and there is no doubt that Chip Kelly would value that. I could see Rishard in an Eagles uni anyways.

    Make it happen, Hickey!

7th round pick from a school that's hardly a football factory.
    No really special physical gifts.
He's already been in the league longer than most guys in his position and is poised to have made more than 2 million dollars in his career by the end of this season.
Will be a UFA an free to go where he wants next March.

And he's raising a public fuss.

I mean, at least play like a diva wide receiver before you act like one.

He's done jack squat in his pro career to be demanding trades.

Matthews is a bit of an enigma to me. I remember liking the pick out of the draft and then him beating out BJ Cunningham to make the 53. The TB game his rookie year I thought was going to be a pleseant surprise of things to come.

But, after 3 years he's never been more than a 4th option and unable to beat out Oft-Injured Brandon Gibson and Brian Hartline. On top of that it seems he's had his moments of messing up nothing major but enough to seem he is in the dog house.

First off, I do NOT cut him as he knows the system and offers ST help.

I would make him very available in a trade.... Ravens, Philly, Panthers, KC, SEA, and Dallas all look like they could use some WR help.

We've been rumored to Philly before and Mathis is still needed.

With Collins going to Dallas I see him starting at OG right away meaning they could make Ronald Leary available.

Plain and simple if he get's beat out by a Matt Hazel in camp then obviously you cut him but don't do it now without trying to get something in return.

Pretty ridiculous statement if you ask me. While, of course, it's true he hasnt done much to demand a trade, but at the same time, we haven't really given him much playing time or opportunity (of course that may be Rishard's fault on his own), however I dont blame him one bit for asking for a trade. He wants to play. It's pretty obvious he's not going to get any playing time here with Landry, Parker, Jennings, Stills all ahead of him. If he felt like he was a part of the plans of the Miami Dolphins moving forward then he probably wouldnt be asking, but I think it's pretty clear we have no use for him looking at the depth chart ahead of him, so why wouldn't he want to be traded. He wants to play.

He's got a legitimate gripe. The guy is good enough to be a contributor but he can't get on the field. Philbin has buried the guy and I'm sure doesn't even want him on the roster but we've had three personnel guys want to keep him.

He's been in the team for 3 seasons, plenty of opportunities to prove his worth and earn his place. 7th round pick, has done very little, and he's demanding a trade like he's some big shot player, just bothers me. Of course, we don't have all the details and information here so there might be other circumstances we are unaware, I'll admit this.

7 round picks in their rookie contract, who have done little to prove themselves, should not be demanding anything, but earning them.

I'd throw in the rights to Dion Jordan too. No way Miami keeps the kid at his salary next year anway (assuming he can keep from getting suspending for another year). The money we are saving on Jordan this year will about cover the cost of paying Evan for the year. We really need this deal now that Collins has gone to Dallas.

I don't think this is new. I think he's wanted out for awhile. And now he sees four guys the team intends to have ahead of him. Which means if all goes as planned, he'll be inactive on gamedays.

Looking for an opportunity and a fresh start.

Will be tough. Generally you're carrying four on gameday. Three high profile acquisitions and Landry. Will take injury or disappointment it seems.

No one is going to trade for him. He really hasn't done anything to make himself a player other teams would covet. In fact last year he seemed to regress from the progress he showed in 2013.

I suspect he will be cut sometime in pre-season, if not sooner. Even if he is picked up on waivers or as a free agent, I really don't see him being anything more on another team then he is with the Dolphins. A fourth or fifth WR and a special team player.
He has had plenty of time and opportunities to show he could be a top three WR with the Dolphins but he just never showed the consistency or the ability to rise above his mediocrity. If he isn't a member of the Dolphins during the 2015 season, it really won't be a loss for the offense.

This. The dude is a nobody. The things I keep hearing about him are the same things we hear about nobody receivers on the back end of the chart since the beginning of time.

Rishard Matthews boycotting Dolphins workouts in hopes of forcing a trade

Seems Richard Matthews is feeling like the odd man out!

I think he could ask for a trade but he's doing himself no justice by sitting out and starting to be a negative attitude in the locker room. It's just going to fester and cause distractions. Trade him and Donald Thomas for a box of Twinkies stat!

What a joke this guys is. This guy is devaluating himself. To me, it sounds "oh **** they picked parker and ill never ever play better than this rookie not to mention some 38yrs old vet called jenning." What a joke.

Damn, you guys are harsh... Kid wants a shot and he's frustrated. I'm not saying we should give it to him over the other receivers, but I get it. He wants to go where there's an opportunity for him. Fine by me, best of luck if he's delt/cut.

I say keep him unless we get a decent offer. Why? Cause that's the worst thing we can do to get back at him and I'm vengeful like that.

At least keep him til through preseason. LOL. Suffer A-hole.

Rishard Matthews boycotting Dolphins workouts in hopes of forcing a trade

By and large, an organization values you by what you produce. You get game snaps, which give you the opportunity to produce, by showing well in practice. He should be focused on being perceived to be the hardest working guy on the team, so as to beat someone out. He obviously realizes that the receivers before him are ultimately better than he is, so there's no opportunity for him here.

This guy has a history of not being...happy with the Fins... This isn't the first time... It's ok, as a WR to be a diva, but first you have to prove it on the field... Given our history of flubs in the WR ranks while Rishard has been here, what's the issue ??

I agree that its fine to be frustrated and want a shot, but he's coming off as a child in the way he's handling it. He's always had issues with work ethic and he needs to prove himself.

He just doesn't come off as a team player.
