I see what you did there...

I thought he took his time and took a solid composed shot. What a fantastic series.

Bulls throwing away the game. As always, you can't trust them, just can't.

This must be how America felt all those years putting their hopes against the Heat in the Bulls and Pacers, only to get crapped on over and over again.

That was some terrible basketball being played by both teams. Just awful.

If this is what McHale came up with to beat the Clippers, then he should get fired. Intentionally fouling 6 minutes into the first quarter ? Really? That was your brilliant plan? You know he's a limited minded coach when thats all he can come up with.

I love what the Clippers and Grizzlies are doing. They're bringing old school basketball back.

For whatever reason there's always trends in the NBA. The league as a whole bought into the Spurs way of spacing the floor with a ton of three point threats when the only real strength is passing to kill rotators.

The control game of playing inside, creating turnovers and playing great defense will prevail during the Finals.

Three point/analytics aficionados are being exposed right now big time. The Splash Brothers and James Flopden are prime examples of that.

Ultimately I think GSW will still win vs the Grizz. The Grizz have been a tough out for a few years running but I don't think they can pull this off. Curry and Thompson eventually will get going and wreck shop.

    Lol @ James Flopden. That's good. :hi5:

The league needs to get involved in stopping that Hack a Shaq crap, I mean teams are doing it in the 1st quarter now. Really? I had to turn that Rockets game off it was so horrible to watch. Coaches are taking this nonsense to a ridiculous level. Rockets deserved to lose.

I've just never seen it work? Like - has a team ever hacked their way into a win? It seems to always backfire.

I'm kinda surprised players will do it. It's more or less admitting if you play them straight up you think you'd lose, right?

Problem with the hacking thing is the Rockets had 3 bench players on the court to perform it . So theyre hurting their offense whilst giving free throws to DeAndre. It was such a stupid strategy.

Free throws are part of the game.
That said, it was a comically dumb strategy.

My bets on last nights clippers game were so easy except for the second half over 108.5 lol

    Picked -6.5 clippers entire game
    -1.5 clippers second half
Over 108.5 second half - garbage time 3 point shot by Nick Johnson cashed this bet. Lol with like 20 seconds left. I swear those scrubs werent scoring **** the last six minutes i thought i lost that one...

I think its a legit strategy if say you are up by 5 and their is 6 secs left and you hack Shaq and then get the ball back but this hacking in the first quarter? The league needs to penalize teams that do this because its just unwatchable basketball. I shut the game off and lost interest in the series after watching that for a few minutes. I literally want the Rockets to lose horribly in the next couple of games and see their team and front office/coaching staff all fired.

I thought the comment from Lebron about shooting from behind the back board, he thew the bus into reverse without even letting it stop first.

Uh..Memphis is run by one of the fathers of the analytics movement (Hollinger) in the NBA. The last 4 NBA champions all had analytics departments and fashioned their offense to suit what their data showed them.

Uh.. Someone is condescending. How convenient of you to give Hollinger that much credit. Apparently he runs the Grizzlies. Forget about the coach, GM and scouts.

When did I claim that NBA teams don't or shouldn't have analytics departments? If you asked me what I meant by my original statement, my response would be that analytics shouldn't be the primary focus of entire rosters the way Morey believes it should be.

Do yourself a favor and read up on Hollinger and other analysts' flaws: http://www.forbes.com/sites/markhei...-barkley-put-it-but-theyre-not-proven-either/

If you're a stats guy, you can pick and choose whatever numbers to support whatever argument you favor (the way Windhorst recently tweeted that LJ is as clutch as MJ) but don't pretend to know what you're looking at when you watch film.

Yes, you can. But numbers also happen to be the....truth. Watching "film" is also now quantified by NUMBERS. SportVu saw to that. Synergy did that before it.

As for the Grizzlies. The Coach, the GM and their entire scouting department where interviewed, and hired based on their belief in analytics.

If you look at the Grizz lineup data, it seems to have been taken directly from their per 100 poss. numbers on Basketball reference.

I don't have to read an article that attempts to argue that Mathematics are flawed. Such nonsense should be thoroughly dismissed. I however had read that article, and you didn't understand it, evidently.

What happens if Golden State wins? That series isn't over yet. You mentioned the Clippers bringing back old school basketball but they were the 5th most in 3 point attempts this season.

The article didn't seek to prove that mathematics is flawed. Apparently you didn't read it or didn't understand it.

I'll now ignore you since you have shown yourself to be condescending AND incompetent.

BTW, once again...the James Harden paradox is proven true.

He is a poor playoff performer. He is not a bad basketball player..to the contrary, he was a legitimate MVP candidate. But Refs do call the game differently in the postseason and it hurts his game.

Cherry picking stats again. What do the stats show in the Rockets vs Clippers series? The Rockets led the league in three point attempts and are being blown out.

The Warriors have the Splash Brothers and the three point shot is failing them so far.

I can argue, with statistics, that the three point shot is inefficient based on what we've seen in the playoffs. Or I can argue that you need to understand basketball (Rockets relying on iso, flopping calls and Tony Allen being a menace on defense, the Grizz bigs clogging the paint allowing for help defense on the perimeter).
