Butch Davis says he would be interested in the U if is was available; http://www.cbssports.com/collegefoo...be-interested-if-miami-job-was-open-right-fit I will up for that, hell yes!!
Its no shame to lose to a higher echelon SEC team like SC. I just saw Butch Davis name mentioned.I like the idea.
So apparently former Canes AD Kirby Hocutt's wife hated living in Miami according to Brian "The Beast" London on 790. He says he sat behind her a few years ago at Miami International Airport and all she did was complain about how no one in the airport spoke English.
Well Hocutt had lived in the midwest for quite a long time before coming to Miami, so I assume his wife is the same way. Not too surprising. I can understand someone spending most of their live in Oklahoma and not meshing well in Miami.
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/spor...lett-decommits-from-miami-20150201-story.html another one bites the dust...Al Golden is really dropping the ball here.
This has been the mantra of the past 4 years, no? It's should basically just be part of the fight song at this point.
Will never understand why a kid would claim to be a cane for over a year and then a few days before NSD flop harder then Paul Pierce
A 17/18 year old whi likely can't remember the last time we played in a big national game, or even won a bowl game for that matter. Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk 4
Someone give me a cliff's notes on Miami's recruiting class. I love the Canes, but not obsessively like the Dolphins. Thanks!
Hurricanes getting Gerald Willis from Florida via transfer. He was kicked off the team. The kid can play and will help on the field.
Good article on Miami's recruiting class today. http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/greg-cote/article9298577.html "Howard Schnellenberger used to say three-quarters of UM’s recruiting class ideally should be kids from Miami-Dade, Broward or Palm Beach counties. Jimmy Johnson once told me he’d be perfectly fine if you told him he could only recruit South Florida – nowhere else in the country – but could have every local player he coveted. The Hurricanes owned the backyard, once. That is what has changed, and Wednesday continued the trend of many top local players making a U-turn away from The U."
If this season is not successful for the Eagles I think Chip Kelly could be headed back to college. If Golden is cut loose, pay this man and let him pay his assistants.
Kaaya will be in the Heisman race this year. Mark my words. He may be an outsider looking in but if he's worked like his demeanor says he has, he's going to be leaps and bounds better than an already great True aFreshman campaign. I think the country will take notice.
Ed Reed retires. I will never forget the 2001 canes. That team was special. There will not be another team like them.
I've been out of the loop. I recently read about Randy Shannon being hired to be a coach at UF, and him saying that UF is a "bigger brand" than Miami. That's no surprise, because, whether it's true or not, he's promoting the football program where he has a job. "Shannon, a Miami alumnus and former assistant and head coach for the Hurricanes, admitted taking the Florida job was a little weird because of his deep Miami ties but said the decision to go to Gainesville was easy thanks to the quality of Florida's brand. "It’s the brand that makes Florida special," Shannon told the audience, according to the Miami Herald. "The Florida brand is bigger than the University of Miami brand. I’m being honest with you." http://247sports.com/Bolt/Randy-Shannon-says-Florida-brand-bigger-than-Miamis-37183406 In other Miami news, it doesn't sound like the new President of the University of Miami will meddle much in the affairs of the athletic program. "A high-ranking UM official who has spent time with new UM president Julio Frenk said he doubts Frenk will inject himself into decisions regarding the future of Al Golden if next season is disappointing and Frenk likely will defer to what athletic director Blake James believes is best..." http://miami.cbslocal.com/2015/05/1...ikely-defer-to-blake-james-on-goldens-future/ The AD is supportive of what Golden is doing, so who's to say whether he wants to keep a mediocre, yet low-key football program, or hire somebody else next year and put us back in the spotlight.
You could easily replace the term "brand" with "steady paycheck" in his statements and get to a more honest place. Al Golden should be gone after this year though.
Brand is such a fickle term. Remember the kids these guys are recruiting just care about very recent memory. Not trying to be rude, but UM has not been great in what 12 years? For these kids (18 yr olds) that would make them 6. Most kids at that age are not really following college football. Now if you are talking about of all Time? Yeah obviously UM has done more in football than UF. I just think this is sort of like Alabama before Saban went there. Their history is off the charts, but before Saban they were an average team at best and their 'Brand' was surely struggling. Heck Mike Shula had a losing record at Alabama. It really just comes down to what you consider "brand". IMO, and I am guessing in Randy's, that he refers "Brand" to mean the last 10 years or so. OR he could just be talking up his new school. I mean what do you expect him to say? "I like UM better but they booted me." ? LOL.
http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/eye-on-college-football/25196379/dimes-releases-2015-college-football-win-totals Over under on wins in NCAA this year. This site says UM is 5.5. I was talking with a co-worker of mine that is a BIG UM fan. He wants to take the under. I was telling him he is crazy with a solid QB you should win at least 6 or 7. What do all of you think?
New Adidas Miami Hurricanes uniforms were unveiled a few days ago. Not too bad, pretty basic. No alternate colored helmets this year. Slideshow of different color choices here: http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/college/acc/university-of-miami/article27715279.html
No I think Bama was pretty prominent under Bear Bryant....Miami's problem has been the coaching..Shannon was mediocre at best and I do not trust Golden at all. His loyalty to Mark D. the DC is going to sink him. Unless he brings in a great DC, he also needs to be shown the door....Bring back Butch Davis....maybe he has learned his lesson....He is a great Coach, however. We all know the Gators are the most followed team in the state but their Football program has been in a downward spiral for quite awhile..maybe McElwain brings them back to prominence....We need to get a great Coach back to UM.
Golden's bond to his best friend and DC is unbreakable. I agree, Davis would be welcome to return, imo. I've heard him say several times that leaving the U for the Cleveland Browns is one of his biggest career regrets. The football team got progressively worse as his recruited players gradually left for the NFL. We definitely need a change. It's a shame to have so much talent on our team year in and year out, with nothing to show for it. We haven't won a Bowl game since Coker was still here.
Well 2-0 is 2-0 even if the last game wasn't the best win. Glad we are at least winning, if we can just continue to do that we will be fine.
Nebraska scares me a bit. They could/should dominate the trenches on both sides. We need to use our athleticism to create space where we will dominate them. We have to play OUR game. A win here would make me feel like there is a chance this year.
20-3 Not surprising we stalled in the red zone, that is where we SHOULD have trouble against them with less space for their defense to cover.
I am so embarrassed to be a UM fan right now. Led them back into the game and now it is tied. I wonder how Golden will spin this.
