Yeah, just look at the recent trend of the NBA now where you've got an MVP candidate that makes a living off of free throws and where there's no strong dynasties.

LeBron obviously fed off of 3 point shooters because he could penetrate so well so the spacing was there for both parties.

Why don't you find the stats on the dynasties I mentioned? Let's see how many 3 pointers those dynasties attempted per game. And don't even try to argue that those dynasties weren't part of the greatest NBA era ever.

Cavs in 7 / Warriors in 6, then it'll be Warriors in 6 when the two meet after that.

My post was in response to the league being watered down this year. Nothing to do with dynasties. If we're talking dynasty...the twolves are coming...one of these decades....after they move to Seattle....depressing.

I don't understand. Do you believe the NBA is watered down or not? Because it seems like you're saying only the Eastern Conference is watered down and I'm contending that the West is watered down compared to last year as well.

Dude... you're a Timberwolves fan? Rough. Must be just as bad as being a Dolphins fan or worse. Why are you a Wolves fan if you don't mind me asking? Miami, Minnesota, odd mix.

Game has changed, bruh. Plus you conveniently left out the actual MVP and the possible young dynasty of a team he's on.

Read my other post where I say the Warriors have a chance of becoming a dynasty.

Edit: I don't welcome the changes in officiating since the Bad Boy Pistons. It's what's allowed Harden to make a career off of free throws. It was a segway for flopping. Taking charges was bad enough but this era is just ridiculous.

It won't change either because owners want to protect their investments and the league wants to keep it a star league.

Minnesota everything but football. Born and raised, graduated from UofMN. It's really odd, I know. And fricken brutal. Basically, my dad was/is a Cleveland guy who absolutely despised the Vikings. So I grew up a Cleveland guy, but switched to repping MN like 15-20 years ago. Be my own guy, ya know? Could never go Vikings, Browns went away for like 3 years back in the day, so I started repping the fins back with the Ricky era. There is no good explanation for me staying loyal to the fins. They have sucked a lot more than not since then. And I'm literally the only person I know(in person) who likes them. I watch football with about 15 guys regularly who are all Vikes fans. I just can't bring myself to leave. Battered wife syndrome or something, I don't even know. lol.

Anyways, on topic. I think the east is watered down, but I think the west is very very good. Thus, not a watered down leage...just imbalanced.

Well, I showed you the Wade/LJ numbers and the Duncan Spurs numbers....and I showed you the three-peat Lakers that were 1,2, and 8 in 3 pt. Diff.

What do 80s Lakers and Celtics, Bad Boys, or Jordan's Bulls have anything to do with MODERN NBA? Hell, Sect showed you that Phill's 3peat Lakers (the guy who is making the argument in the first place) were very much 3 point oriented team. So what are you trying to say? Those teams didnt need 3s to be dynasties? No. However the two closest things we've in Dynasties in last 15 years (early 00 Lakers, LBJ HEAT) very clearly superior 3 point shooting teams. Now you can attritube it to whatever you want to attribute it to (pointing to you saying that Bron made it happen with his drives) But bottom line it happened, and they were successful, very successful.

Oh, and the last 4 teams left? Just happen to lead the league in 3 point attempts per game in the playoffs. Like it or not, THIS is the modern NBA.

As I pointed out, it's a weak era. Where are the dynasties? Why are last year's lower seeds this year's top seeds? The 3 point reliant teams are winning but in an era where there's no truly great big men or great teams in their prime.

That couldn't have worked out much better as far as I'm concerned. I would have loved to move up, but I knew that wouldn't happen. My realistic hopes were Heat keep their pick, Kicks get jumped, and Lakers move up. All happened.

Hezonja, Johnson, Dekker, Porzingis, Turner, Oubre, Cauley-Stein, or Kaminsky would be my top choices.

Honestly, my favorite player in the draft, Russell, could be there. Either he or Mudiay will be. Someone was tweeting out that they met with Justise Winslow also, who could be very good. It's a deep draft.

For personal reasons that would be great, it was rumored Phil likes Russell a while back but who knows how true that is. I don't know how he would fit with Melo but I'd welcome the addition, ecspecially if we can use those dollars on a big man or 2

By the way, I wonder if the rumor I heard today about Jimmy Butler and D-Rose having a "rift"...I've heard basically ZERO good things about Rose as a teammate. Either way the Bulls losing Jimmy Butler is fine by me.

Incidentally, here are some players picked 10 in the past few years:

    Elfrid Payton 2014
    Paul George 2010
    Brook Lopez 2008
    Caron Butler 2002
    Joe Johnson 2001
    Paul Pierce 1998

There are some other good ones, but those are probably the best names.

I think the Bulls as a whole is in a rift with Rose. It starts with his loudmouth brother Reggie Rose, all the comments he makes towards the Bulls, and then some comments that makes Rose look like he doesnt really see basketball being that important.

I probably would keep any description of the past few years to at least the past decade.

It's also difficult to include results from when HS players could go straight to the NBA IMO.

Riley trading the pick for Westbrook, Durant and Khawi Leonard anyway.

Winslow went to a NYY game with Carmelo last week. Either he or Russell would be my pick at 4. Mudaiy would be OK because he's a plus defender but he has NO jumper to speak of and he's a terrible fit for the triangle. I could see them packaging THJR to move to three for Russell. Winslow as the defensive wing next to melo fits well too.
if Butler wants to sign with the NYK I'm ok with that :)

Fair enough. Even going back during the past decade, the success rate is pretty good.

    Elfrid Payton
    C.J. McCollum
    Austin Rivers
Jimmer Fredette (Klay Thompson went 11)
    Paul George
    Brandon Jennings
    Brook Lopez
    Spencer Hawes
Mouhamed Sene (JJ Redick went 11)
    Andrew Bynum

With the exception of Fredette and Sene, you'd be pretty happy if the pick this year gave you what those guys have.

We'll get an impact player at #10 to go along with a healthy (hopefully) starting 5 of Dragic / Wade / Deng / Bosh / Whiteside and McRoberts, Chalmers, Birdman coming off the bench. Add in the potential progression of Tyler Johnson plus whatever we get in FA we should be set pretty well.

Lakers dodged a huge bullet and actually moved UP. As a Lakers fan, this is the perfect spot for them.I assume they keep the pick, fill their void at center with Okafor, and pair him with a healthy Randle and Jordan Clarkson at the point and accelerate the rebuilding process. This is going to be a pretty stress free draft for Mitch and Co.

I am moderately excited about the season after next now.

All joking aside, do you think we'll hold onto the pick or trade for a veteran?

I'm also curious to hear your take on if you believe we'll trade existing players (hopefully dump McRoberts on somebody else). I hope Deng opts out for one last contract elsewhere.

I think they are keeping McRoberts unless Riley finds another great deal like he did with Dragic. Every indication I have gotten is that they are keeping the pick.

Thoughts on who we're interested in drafting? I'd love Kaminsky. Three good 7 footers would be pretty cool.

Do you believe Deng will opt in? I think he will. Then he'll try to capitalize after the TV deal money raises the cap.

It'll be interesting to see who the Heat bring in for workouts. We know they've spoken to Oubre. Chad Ford has them taking Johnson at the moment, and I believe (the site is currently down) he mentioned Turner, Kaminsky, and Dekker as well. Their need for a shooter could put Booker in play.

Man, Phil Jackson is getting crushed on the radio today. The worst season in NBA history in an attempt to tank only to end up with the 4th pick. They were also saying he only traveled to two away games last year (both in LA where he has a home), and came to Chicago during the combine, but did not attend any of the events. Yikes. It will be very interesting to see who they take because we really don't know much about him as an evaluator. Justise Winslow might be my bet right now, and that could be risky. He could be a very good player, but according to Chad Ford his "so-so measurements at the combine coupled with ongoing concerns about his ability to shoot off the bounce might cause him to slide".

As for the Heat, I am very interested to see what they'll go after. Do they play it safer with a guy who will almost certainly contribute like a Frank Kaminsky or Devin Booker (with his shooting ability), or do they take a chance on big time upside with guys like Oubre or Turner? Sam Dekker might be somewhere in the middle. Most people would probably think Riley is always in win-now-mode and will play it relatively safe, but when he sees something in a player sometimes he locks into them. We all remember his Lamar Odom fascination. That could be the case with Oubre, who is a risk, but his shooting and defense could still make him a role player if he doesn't pan out (maybe just not right away).
