That's why I was so surprised we voted for that extra point distance, that extra distance is going to bite us in the ***.
I's funny how the practice reports are always a Catch-22. One guy doing good and making a great play is good and gets me excited, but then you realize it was against another one of our players.
I don't really see that affecting us. Sturgis has always been very good under 40 yards. Above 40 is more of an adventure. Now allegedly he battled an injury all year so that may be a factor on the longer kicks, but regardless he was good on the shorter kicks so I don't extra points being any different for us than any other team.
We are down seven and Tannehill leads a masterful drive to bring us within one with just seconds left in the game, now all we need is Sturgis to tie it up with the pressure on.....see where and why I'm nervous? He rattles waaaaay too easily.
Sturgis was 20 of 21 last year on kicks of 39 yards or less, so no, I don't see why you're nervous. It's obviously not based on Sturgis missing a bunch of kicks in the 39 yards or less range.
Moooooooorree..... Not Matt, more OTA. Never had a penchant for crack, but I might rob my grandmama for some more OTA news.
Tell ya right now, Mike pouncey is in tremendous shape..and so is J James...with Albert in the fold and Turner and douglas we might have the most in shape nline out there..these guys are gonna be moving..
Day One OTA Thoughts: The team already looks better than last year. Body control and hands, body control and hands. DeVante Parker can be undefendable it seems. I've been saying all offseason that Parker has a chance as good or better than anyone to be the draft's best WR. Today, it wasn't the talent, it was the consistency. Showed excellent route running and getting out of his breaks - that's NFL discipline, not only NFL athleticism. He definitely has a top ten shot at being ORoTY. WRs in general? I've never seen a unit be totally revamped in one offseason, and looks so elite immediately. This might be the strength of our team, even over our DLine. Contrary to initial belief, the starting LB battle is going to be way more fascinating than the UDFA version. Kelvin Sheppard, Chris McCain, and Jordan Tripp all got the opportunity today to earn the position. All three bring a lot of potential to the competition, so let's hope one of them can exploit playing behind an A+ DLine. Suh is the best player on defense. This might be he best thing to happen to Wake. Suh versus Pouncey is going to be fun to watch. Jamil Douglas may already be one of our two best OGs. Dallas, lol. There really wasn't any competition at CB2, I don't think that is a good thing. Jamar Taylor is probably the biggest question mark going forward. Lippett had an INT, which is nice to see he's impactful from the start. On the other hand, the best news of today has got to be Louis Delmas actually running plays. The difference between Delmas and Aikens/Thompson is probably the most vast of any first and second teamers. A healthy Delmas during training camp is HUGE for this team. You have to love Bill "EVERYTHING should be better" Lazor. (Listen to his interview if you haven't.) The most underrated difference of this year's offense from last is that this is Lazor's system's second year. This offseason will be spent "perfecting" and not "learning". Those gray shorts are awesome. There's something that makes so much sense having an alternate jersey the actual color of a dolphin. All in all, what a great day. It's nice to be back.
Parker is bigger and stronger than I thought watching his college highlights. Our wide receiver corps is deep and diverse. It still hasn't hit me fully yet...Just smh in disbelief.
Albert is coming off of an acl and mcl tear. I'm still a little concerned about him going forward. Especially since his injury occurred late in the season. I'm not penciling him in to the pro bowl at this point.
I very nearly injured my... self, reading this post. Certainly hope anyone else looking to read that write-up has enough lotion within reach as to avoid my predicament.
if you watch that little 1 min video above of him walking out onto the practice field you will see the build from the waist up, his lats and shoulders are very impressive, very strong kid...his body was beautiful in college and projected well to the pros..
